The Party

Once we get to the bakery Edith starts in on the pastries while I started the candy. She did six different kinds of petit fours, then she made four different flavors of macaroons, then she made four different kinds of cookie bars. I made six kinds of fudge, six different flavors of truffles, a dozen different flavors of chocolate covered fruit bars, then to end it I did chocolate covered strawberries and cherries. After the candies I made cupcakes and single serving cakes. Once we had everything done, cleaned up, and put away it was eleven at night. We went up to Edith's house and had a lite supper before going to bed.

We got up at six a.m. and start boxing things up. I saved the chocolate covered fruit bars and the cherries and strawberries for the gift boxes. I mix it up and put three different fruit bars and one piece of fruit in each box. We do one hundred seventy-five boxes We finish everything by eight a.m. then we wait for Mathew and Tim to show up. We both get dressed and have a bowl of cereal then at the last minute I think about Tim.

"Edith I forgot to make Tim a box."

"Do we have any candy left? You know that's what he really wants."

"Umm I have a little bit of fudge left. I hope that's okay. I mean he will get the other candy so he will have a fair variety."

"I think that will be just fine. Let's get it boxed up before the boys get here. And we better prep the emergency bag incase they mess up the cakes while moving them."

"You have a point there. You grab the frosting I'll get the candy pieces."

Once we got everything put together we sat down and waited. Mathew and Tim showed up at nine. We loaded everything in to the back of the car then we went up the mountain. Tim drove and Edith sat in the front with him. I sat in back with Mathew. All the sudden I started getting tired so I place my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me and that's when he realized something was wrong.

"Take us to the pack doctor now."

Tim looked in the rearview mirror as Edith turned around to look at us.

Two minutes later we pulled up in front of the building. Mathew had already linked them we were coming. As he carries me inside the staff is waiting the doctor points him to a room then she has him lay me down.

"What's going on if she's getting ready to shift she shouldn't be like this."

"Alpha I don't know much about hybrid but I told you yesterday she is part elf as well. Just look at her ears that should tell you something. I don't know enough about them to adequately help her."

"Mathew try asking the elders I know there are elves on the council."

"Your right Aunt can you watch her for a minute while I talk to them."

"Of course Mathew. Hurry up though."

Mathew goes out into the hall to make the call two minutes later he walks in with two women. They come over to me and touch me. The tall women pulls back and starts giving out orders.

"We need ice now. How old is she? You said you were her mate?"

"Yes I'm her mate. She turns twenty today. What do these things have to do with anything?"

"She is what you call a late bloomer. Elves hit maturity at eighteen much like you wolves but her aura seems to be congested. Have you met her Wolf yet?"

"We met her briefly yesterday during the attack but her Wolf told us she wasn't due to come forward till today."

"When you ran the genealogy tests did you only look for the Alpha gene or did you go a step further and look for Lycan genes?"

"I'm sorry I only looked for alpha genes."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"Because boy we can tell she is from the Royal elf line. We just can't tell what house yet. But to us she smells Lycan. And those to combined are rare. It is a delicate procedure to balance both blood lines safely. Since you are her mate as well as an Alpha you should be strong enough to balance her. You must mark her before he blood boils. Then after we wake her up she has to mark you. This is the only way to save her life so get to work boy."

"Mathew please hurry I can't loose her to."

Mathew nods to Edith then he climbs on the bed and moves me to his lap. After he kisses me he moves down to my marking spot and sinks his teeth in. After a moment he closes the holes and kisses me once more. They watch as my body bows off the bed. Once I settle down they do something to me where I sit up and mark him. Once I seal the mark my body drops and the same bright light from yesterday fills the room. A moment later the silver/grey Wolf from yesterday appears. She turns her head and licks Mathew then I shift back. The elves come back to me and checks me out. Once they say I am okay the tell Mathew I should wake up in the next few minutes and be fine. Then they pull the doctor away and discuss what she needs to know for the future. I wake up ten minutes later and realize something major has happened. Then I hear a voice in my head that scares the he'll out of me until I figure out who she is.

"Hello Ellen I am Kora I am your Lycan."

"My Lycan? What is a Lycan are you a wolf?"

"Lycan's are the first Wolf. There are not many of us left. I was chosen for you because we are going to save the world. It won't be right away but we will do it. You must train hard and learn to use your gifts and trust your mate above all else. I will explain more later right now we have a party to get to."

Once our conversation ends I look up to see Mathew watching me.

"How are you feeling?"

"Fine my Lycan told me I'm fine and we should start the party. She really wants to go to the party."

"Well my love if your okay and your Lycan wants to go to the party I say we go."

So he helps me up and links Tim and Edith then we head out the door. We get in the car and head to the pack house. Once we unload everything and get it in the kitchen I check the cakes. As of right now they are fine. We then go to Emily's house and fill her in on what happened. She was upset by how it happened but she was happy we marked each other. We talked for a while then people started to show up, I asked Emily to come to the pack house with me I needed to show her the gift boxes.

"Okay I know you said we are only giving one gift out for the exchange but I wanted to give everyone a gift so I hope these are okay."

I pull out one of the boxes and hand it to her. She opens the box and looks inside. She smiles and closes it up.

"I think this is wonderful. They will enjoy a gift make by their Luna. You are going to make an awesome Luna."

"Thank you, I'm glad you have faith in me. I'm still a bit nervous about all of this. I mean three days ago I was human now I'm a hybrid. I mean wow, lot to digest you know. Anyway when would be a good time to set this stuff out. It's only noon but people are showing up already. I don't want anyone to leave without a gift box."

"If your ready we can set them out now. That way we won't be jockeying for space later."

"That's a good point. Let's get the cakes out first then we can put out the smaller things. Ask Edith to help but not the boys they make a mess out of the display. And I like things to be pretty, you eat with your eyes first after all."

"Okay hun whatever you say Edith is on her way let's get the first cake out."

After Edith put the table clothes down we took out the first cake. Then Edith brought out the smaller one. We all brought out the boxes. Edith knows me so well she put out the candy around the smaller cake while I put the pastries around the larger cake. Then we had to set out a third table for the personal size cakes and cupcakes as well as the gift boxes. I put a small sign out in front of everything so the pack knew what they were grabbing. Once I was done with my tables I turned around to ask Emily a question and for some reason everyone started clapping. I was shocked but I told everyone thank you and told them all they are each welcome to a gift box and no nuts at all. Then I told them all Merry Christmas and enjoy. The other three tables were filled with the salads and side dished brought by the pack as they picked their gift boxes. I stood back watching and smiling as they enjoyed the sweets. I did not realize I was being watched as well.

About an hour later we did the gift exchange. It was nice watching so many people get excited over their gifts. I gave Tim his extra box of chocolates then I gave Mathew the DVD collection. They were both happy. I had to laugh as Tim picked me up and hugged me then put me down again.

"Enjoy the chocolate Tim but no more spinning okay. You make me dizzy."

"Sorry Luna but thank you. I love your chocolates."

"Your Welcome Tim."

Then Mathew comes over to me and hands me a small box. When I open it I find a complete jewelry set. There is a beautiful sapphire necklace shaped as a heart with matching earrings. As he helps me put on the necklace I kiss him to thank him. Several people around us ooh and aww over the gift and I just smile.

As the party gets into full gear there is dancing and singing then the four elders join Edith and I at our table.

"Good evening lady's great party. Ellen you are an excellent cook the candies are wonderful."

"Thank you sir, I'm glad you like them. And I wanted to say thank you to all of you for helping me this morning."

"Your very welcome dear. That actually one of the reasons we are here. We need to run a few blood tests get get a better idea about your bloodlines. We can do it sometime next week there is no hurry but we must assign you an instructor soon. Your are going to need them very soon."

"We can do it tomorrow after work. I can't leave early on Monday that's our busiest day. But anytime after four I'm good to go."

"That's fine we will see you after four tomorrow."

I nod my head and they go talk to Mathew and Emily. Then I watch as his dad and Tim do the cooking tonight.

All in all the party was great. Then I got an amazing surprise after dinner. At first everyone got quiet then they all started singing happy birthday to me. Everyone cam over to the table with small gifts. I told them all thank you. I knew I was crying but I couldn't help it. This has been the most amazing birthday since I lost my parents. The Party went so late I stayed at the pack house with Mathew. I ended up falling asleep almost instantly.
