Chapter 4- I Know Everything

Jiwook: Why do you look so upset? Did something happen?

Bella: Huh, what? No, no! I am fine.

Jiwook: Well, shall we test each other about ourselves now?

Bella: Yeah sure!

Jiwook: I'll start with mine. What's my favorite food?

Bella: Chinese food and your mother's cooking.

Jiwook: My hobbies?

Bella: Motorcycling.

Jiwook: Born on?

Bella: July 5th, 1987

Jiwook: What is my height?

Bella: 6'0″ tall

Jiwook smiled as Bella could answer the questions about him well so he continued to ask Bella about himself. Bella took a sip of her coffee in front of her and adjusted her hair a little waiting for Jiwook to ask her more.

Jiwook: How about my studies?

Bella: You went to Shin Sung High School. Then, attended Dankook University and majored in Theater and Films.

Jiwook: I am impressed!

Bella: Well, this is what you gave me to remember, right?

Jiwook: Yeah but I did not expect you to be so fast in memorizing my details in a day.

Bella: Shall I continue? You have completed your mandatory military service on August 14, 2017, and were discharged a year and 8 months later, on April 27, 2019. Your ideal type of girl would be a girl who is fun and that he can communicate well with. Your favorite color is blue and your favorite season is winter. You love thriller movies, loves animals, especially dogs. You have a lovely dog named Ggoma. Other talents would be singing and playing the piano.

Jiwook was very surprised with Bella's response to his biodata and his heart did skip a beat when she told everything about him so accurately. He smiled in small and looked at Bella as she was sipping her coffee in that same café, they first met that day.

Bella: Okay, now, your turn.

Jiwook: Okay. Your favorite color is purple and maroon and your favorite season is summer. You love romance, thriller and horror movies, love animals, especially cats. Another talent would be singing. Your favorite food would be Western and Chinese food and your ideal type of guy would a Korean guy.

Bella: You are not bad yourself. I am impressed!

Jiwook: I am used to this as I have to know most of my contract dates and the content of it during my presentations at the office.

Bella: I am not surprised then. So, when do you want me to start my service?

Jiwook: You call it service?

Bella: Yeah, it is a service because you are paying me to do this, right?

Jiwook: Let's call it a mission instead?

Bella: Sounds good to me.

Jiwook and Bella shared some other information on their personal details that day and chatted casually in the café. Jiwook seemed to be relaxed and himself with Bella around and maybe he felt this way was because he was comfortable being himself in front of Bella. He would steal glances at Bella whenever she was not looking at him and when she looks at him, his heartbeat would beat faster than normal. Suddenly, his phone rang and Bella told him to answer the call just in case it was an emergency. She did not want to be blamed later if anything important Jiwook misses just because he did not attend that phone call.

Jiwook: Hello?

Melinda: Where are you now? How come when I call you, I get straight to voice mail? Did you block me or something?

Jiwook: I am having a meeting now, Melinda. I will call you back.

Melinda: Why did you not make it last night to that place I told you over the phone? I was waiting for you in fact. Everyone thought I was a crazy woman telling everyone that you would come. I felt so ashamed Jiwook.

Jiwook bit his lips and sighed hard. He totally forgot about the Touch Bar last night with Melinda. Thus, he had to come up with something and he kept biting his lips because he was nervous and trying to think of an excuse. Melinda knows if Jiwook was lying even on the phone so Jiwook had to think carefully of something that won't make Melinda suspicious. Bella noticed this and smiled secretly. She knew that he was trying to escape someone over the line so Bella took out her notepad and wrote something down for Jiwook. Jiwook saw this note from Bella and he nodded his head.

Jiwook: I was not feeling well last night so I had to head back home.

Melinda: Seriously? Are you okay now? Do I have to come over? I will bring some hot soup over and we can cuddle and sleep maybe?

Jiwook: What? No! I mean, I am fine now plus you would get it if you come too close to me. I will call you again once I am done with this meeting. Don't worry about me.

Jiwook ended the call with Melinda and sighed hard. He noticed Bella was smiling because Jiwook used her made-up excuse for him to escape whomever over the line just a while ago. Jiwook was too embarrassed to even look at Bella so he pretended to read the menu card. Little did he know that the menu card was upside down. Bella almost chuckled at his innocence but pretended not to care when he looked up at her. Bella looked at her watch and was shocked that it was late. So, she got up from her seat and hung her sling bag at her side.

Bella: Okay, I have to go now. Shall we meet tomorrow at this place again?

Jiwook: Here? Again?

Bella: There is something that I want you to see. So, don't be late, okay?

Jiwook: Any hints?

Bella: You will see tomorrow. Don't be late!

Jiwook was surprised that Bella wanted to show him something but just nodded his head as Bella got up to leave the place. It was raining slowly so he thought he could send Bella back home but pulled a cab from the main road. Jiwook was looking at her as she got into the cab safely. He then took out his phone and called Hae Rae to drop by the café as he wanted to speak to him about Melinda. Jiwook had to wait for Hae Rae to arrive so he sipped his coffee slowly as he was enjoying the weather and the slow jazz music that was playing in the background.

Hae Rae: So, you met Bella just now?

Jiwook: Yeah and I told her about myself and she told me about herself.

Hae Rae: Maybe we rushed into some things here. I still feel you should talk to your dad about stopping the marriage, Jiwook. I don't feel good that you are treating your dad this way.

Jiwook: Treating my dad how?! So, now you are saying my dad is the victim now? He was the one who pushed me into this in the first place without even asking me. You know that very well. How could you say that, Hae Rae?

Hae Rae: Jiwook, relax, can you? Just listen to me. Before coming over here, I dropped by your house to check on dad and he wasn't well. He had migraines twice today and he was asking for you.

Jiwook: I did not know this. How is he now? Is he okay?

Hae Rae: He is fine now. I made sure he was asleep when I came out of your house.

Jiwook: I am relying on you for this, Hae Rae. Melinda seems to be slick and annoying at the same time. I don't want her to ruin our plan.

Hae Rae: Our plan? Jiwook...

Jiwook: Yeah, isn't it our plan? In fact, you are the one who gave this idea.

Hae Rae: But now I feel differently. I feel this would end so badly with your dad. With his heart problem, he won't be able to take this from you. I know how is it to lose someone, Jiwook.

Jiwook: Hey, you are overthinking this. I have made plans thinking ahead of time so don't worry. Bella just has to cooperate that is all.

Hae Rae: What is the plan? Have you told her yet?

Jiwook: I am meeting her tomorrow. I will tell her everything.

Hae Rae: What if she doesn't want to take part in whatever plan you have now? Would you then at least tell your dad the truth?

Jiwook looked at Hae Rae and bit his lips again in confusion. He knows he has to tell his dad no matter what happens and at the same time, he knows his dad very well. His dad is very controlling and wouldn't take "no" for an answer. He tried to bring up Jiwook in that manner but Jiwook always rebelled his way out.

Jiwook: Okay, if nothing works out, I will tell my dad the truth.

Hae Rae nodded his head and smiled in small. He knows how Jiwook felt about the whole thing but Hae Rae did not want to make things worse for Jiwook's dad and for Jiwook. He assumed that Bella would understand if Jiwook wanted to back out from the mission and he hoped that this arrangement would not be leaked to anyone.

Jiwook and Hae Rae decided to hang out in that café for some time and spend some time talking about their past memories. Jiwook was much relaxed when Hae Rae convinced Jiwook about Melinda saying Hae Rae would speak to Melinda again and convince her to stop the wedding. Jiwook did not want to cause trouble for Bella with Melinda later on as he knew Bella is working for Melinda. That night when they parted ways, Hae Rae went to the Touch Bar to look for Melinda because Melinda updated her status that she would be going there for the night. He now had to try his best to make Melinda convinced about the wedding and he hoped that she would understand and back off before it is too late for everyone.

He saw her with a couple of guys drinking and having fun and when he approached her, Melinda was totally wasted. She couldn't walk properly so Hae Rae had to help her on her feet to the entrance.

Melinda: I know Jiwook hates me. I know he wants me to stop being annoying but I can't help it. I like him and I feel we are perfect for each other.

Hae Rae: You are drunk, Melinda. Let's go home now.

Melinda: Do you know how much I like him?

Hae Rae: Okay, Melinda, you have to stop now. Jiwook doesn't like you. He doesn't want to marry you.

Melinda looked at Hae Rae with her drunken eyes and smiled sheepishly at him. It was as if she was not listening to what Hae Rae had said to her earlier. But then she looked back at him and pulled him closer to her.

Melinda: I know. I know everything.

Hae Rae was shocked that Melinda knows everything but she did not say anything to stop this wedding. Just then, Melinda vomited and Hae Rae had to hold her down so that she does not hit the floor hard. She was pushing Hae Rae away and trying to get up from the floor but Hae Rae was smart. He couldn't take it anymore so he carried her over the shoulders and brought her to his car. He opened the door and placed her carefully on the car seat as her head rested on the seat headrest. Her eyes were closed and her breath was stinking badly. Hae Rae stood there a while thinking if he should bring her back home or bring her to his house. He thought he did not want any trouble so he took her purse and checked for her ID card. He inserted her house address in his GPS system and started the engine. He helped Melinda with her seat belt and wore his too.

He shook his head in disbelief that Jiwook was going to have a hell of a time with Melinda if he was marrying her. He knew he had to make sure Melinda doesn't mess up the plan that Jiwook have arranged so that the wedding wouldn't take place. He brought her back home safely and her housemaid took her in the house as she thanked Hae Rae for bringing her back safely.
