Jealousy

He just sat there quietly with a faint smile on his face, exuding a noble and unapproachable aura.

It was as if he had been born that way, with a dignity that radiated from his soul, and absolute confidence.

During the interview, he always answered the host's questions with ease and a relaxed and natural atmosphere.

A few girls in the café were glued to the TV screen, occasionally whispering about it, and seemed to admire Richard.

Richard did have such a knack for attracting the attention of all the opposite sex, even if he just appeared on the television screen.

"Cathy, you're so lucky to be married to a man like Richard! Not to mention the strength of the Grant family, Richard's handsome face alone can capture the hearts of all women!"

"Oh no, Cathy, I'm starting to get jealous of you!"

Sandy bit into a cupcake in mock exasperation.

I looked at her funny and didn't respond, just picked up my coffee and took a small sip.

"By the way, I'm going to visit Richard's family at the old Grant family home tomorrow and I don't have the right clothes yet, so you can shop with me later," I spoke calmly.

"Haha, no problem! I promise to pick out the most beautiful dress for you and make you the only woman in Richard's eyes!" Sandy was full of excitement.

I shook my head helplessly, "I'll ask Richard if I need to bring a gift for tomorrow's visit and ask about his family's preferences."

I was a little nervous about meeting Richard's family for the first time and hoped I could make a good impression on them with a gift.

I took out my phone and fished out an unnamed number and hesitated for a moment before pressing the dial button.

After a beep, Richard's voice came on the other end.

"Yes?" His voice sounded a little tired.

I froze briefly as Richard sounded as if he had guessed who I was.

"Do you have a moment now?" I asked tentatively.

"Some time, why?" Richard's tone remained calm.

I took a deep breath and gathered my courage to ask, "I just wanted to ask what I need to bring as a gift to visit your family tomorrow. What would they like?"

"No, just a simple meal." Richard's voice was even more tired.

"Oh, okay, I have nothing else to do, you take care of your rest."

I barked simply and hung up straight away.

I had been scratching my head about what to get Richard's family, but now I felt a little naive.

The Grant family was the head of the nobility and must have seen many expensive gifts.

And as an ordinary commoner, I simply did not have the money to buy expensive gifts, and it would seem cheap for the Richard family to prepare gifts that were within my spending power.

After thinking carefully for a while, I decided to follow Richard's words and forget about gifts for a while.

At the mall, Sandy chose a strapless white dress for me.

As I stood in front of the fitting mirror in the white dress, I almost didn't recognize myself.

"Cathy, you look simply gorgeous in this dress! Especially with your collarbones showing beautifully!" Sandy quipped.

"Yes, this beautiful lady, the dress suits you perfectly!" The shopper next to me chimed in.

Normally, I usually wore simple and loose jackets or work clothes, never a dress like this.

The dress was indeed perfect for a family gathering and I took Sandy's advice and bought it.

I would have liked to spend more time shopping with Sandy, but Sandy insisted that I go back to the hostel early to rest and get ready for my visit to Richard's family tomorrow.

The day passed quickly.

The next afternoon, I left work early and went back to the hostel as there was no work at the hospital.

I simply packed my clothes and household items so that I could move straight to Richard's house for the evening.

Immediately afterward, I washed up properly, even put on some make-up, changed into the new dress I had bought at the mall yesterday and picked out a simple but generous coat and jacket.

By the time I had done all this, it was 5.30 pm and Richard appeared at the bottom of the hostel building on time.

When I heard the car's siren, I immediately grabbed my suitcase and left the hostel.
