A Fulfilled Wish

In the hospital wing of the city's general section, Lyra Belkovich laid on a white bed attended by a bespectacled nurse.

She had tried in vain to convince the woman that she was in fact sane and that the whole thing had been a big mistake but her words fell on deaf ears.

"You need to calm down and rest. You'll be back to your duties in no time," The nurse said, smiling down at her and patting her head.

In response, Lyra struggled against the tight restraints on her hands.

Apart from the fact that the older woman was talking to her like she was an invalid, she hated that she was powerless to do anything about it.

She had been given two shots of tranquilizers back when she was captured by the guards and she could already feel their effect though she tried to fight it.

"Have you listened to anything I've been saying? I'm perfectly fine, let me go."
