Chapter 8

Hsien Lian, now Yao Wang, walked with FangHai and Buo by his side. "So there are no shrines for me?" Yao Wang frowned, glancing at the shrine of a goddess before continuing to walk. Fu Hai started to snicker. "Guess you're not popular." Fu Hai laughed, shrugging. The three of them all wore more traditional clothing, with their hair all loose. They looked like average citizens, which is exactly what they were trying to obtain. "I should make one." Yao Wang hummed. Fu Hai nods. "A shine? Maybe I should help. You probably don't know how to make a shine, since you sat in a palace all your life."

Buo clicked his tongue. "Making fun of Your Highness again, how disrespectful. Yao Wang, I don't understand why you brung him here. Shouldn't he be, well, cleaning?" Buo asked, smiling mockingly at Fu Hai. Yao Wang sighed, not this again. Yao Wang didn't say anything, only continuing to walk. Fu Hai huffed. "Really? Me, cleaning. You can't live that down, can you? Didn't you teach Yao Wang to not be vengeful. So hypocritical of you." Fu Hai shook his head, dramatically sighing. The two only argued when together. Yao Wang didn't think that two gods could argue for this long.

"You two are both talking nonsense-"

Yao Wang stopped talking abruptly when he saw a butterfly, like a piece of glass, flutter towards him. Yao Wang stared in wonder, before sticking his finger out. After a moment of hesitation, the butterfly fluttered onto his finger, staying still, only the fluttering of its wings causing movement. It was practically see-through, only the sides being outlined. But the amazing part was the slight shadow located onto his finger. It was truly wonderful. Its crystallized wings were curved and tactical, fluttering without lifting off his finger. The butterfly practically waved at Yao Wang, which made him smile softly. How could a butterfly look like this? It was deemed like a decoration, too stunning to be able to fly. To be here in Yao Wang's hands.

Yao Wang didn't know what to do with the butterfly. He has never seen one like this before. So delicate and fragile. The crystal butterfly was weightless,Yao Wang could barely even feel that it was there. "What?" Fu Hai asked curiously, Yao Wang leaning over to Fu Hai could see. But the butterfly disappeared.Yao Wang still felt it in his hand though. The warm presence that had been there before. It was an icy butterfly. That was what Yao Wang saw it as. And he was stunned by the beauty of such a creature. If this was possible, then what else could be possible. For some reason,Yao Wang wanted to know.

Buo tapped both of their shoulders before continuing to walk. The butterfly is seemingly not that important. "Come on, we made it." He voiced simply, before starting to walk in front of the two. The cabin seemed only, with traditional styling. It was a temple, for someone We didn't know. For as long as he had been here, it was sad that he didn't know. Yao Wang didn't notice Fu Hai started walking without him until he looked up from his now empty hand.Yao Wang groaned, before starting not to run. "Hey!"

Once Yao Wang was fully caught up to them, the three stared up at the cabin. "It's not going to be what you're used to Yao Wang." Fu Hai snickers before stepping inside. The entire temple was dusty, and the lack of use. It had been abandoned for about one thousand years, however, the building was still as held up. Temple's weren't as much of a thing in present China as they were thousands of years ago. But still, there lived temples all around the suburbs. "Buo." Yao Wang said simply, and Buo only grunted before swirling his hand in the empty cold, bringing light in the form of fire on his hands.

Gods really have only two special things they can do. One is their main ability. Hsien Lian for example, controls all floral patterns in the space that China stands on, as well as the surrounding area. Fang Hai is the God Of The Ocean, so he can control patterns in waves, tsunami's and other ocean events. However, there is a side ability that involves your aura. Hsien Lian's is to heal. Chen Guo's is to burn, Fang Hai's is to seek. Those have less to do with your godlike abilities, and more to do with yourself. However, to take away your aura is to take away your life.

The room lit up as the blaze's energy showed through the previously blackened space.Yao Wang hiked farther into the room, skimming the area. As a normal shrine would, there was a portrait of a God, with various incense and flowers. However, none had been burned. "Ok, do you guys know about the ghost we're hunting?" Yao Wang asked, crossing his hands behind his back, the sleeves to his shirt stretching enough to reveal the bandages.

"The God's Reaper, that's what the human's call him. He kills everyone that goes anywhere near Tao Wu's temple at the top of Jiuhua. People think he was sent by Tao Wu to kill anyone that is sinful enough to die. But everyone that went to the temple, didn't come back. Only one person, a Legalist preacher by the name of Ah Chao." Buo explained, sitting down onto the cold wooden floor.

"Ah Chao, can we somehow find him? Maybe he had seen the ghost." Yao Wang asks, sitting down next to him. Fu Hai shakes his head solemnly. "No way. He disappeared long before we came here. One hundred years ago." Buo hums, nodding his head. "Wait, one hundred years? And no one from Heaven noticed?"

"Well, no. The God's Reaper was secret. Everyone that did notice, which wasn't much, thought they died of starvation or suicide. But the problem is that whenever someone went to get the bodies…." "They wouldn't come back either." Wang finished. He licked his lips, sighing. "Ok, is there any variety with who the Ghost is killing?" Fu Hai simply shook his head.

"Ok, well. What should we do first?" Wang asks, Buo almost cuts him off. "Sleep, we need to get rest." Buo instantly started. The god sat down on the floor, before laying down fully. Fu Hai scoffed, shaking his head with disappointment. That's how all of their arguments started. "You know, Buo, we need to catch this ghost. We know where they are. Sleep can wait-"

"But our aura's practically ruined if we don't sleep!"

"But if we sleep, someone else might die! We can't waste it."

"No one goes to temples during the night!"

"YES THEY DO!"

"You guys, can you both-"

"WANG, WHAT DO YOU THINK?" They both yelled at the same time, turning to look at him. Wang sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Let's sleep. Ghosts are most active during night time. The gate that leads to the mountain is closed, so most will not go near it. We need all the energy we can get." Buo smiles brightly, whilst Fu Hai huffs. "Whatever" He muttered. Yao Wang smiled.

"Thank you."
