Chapter 3 - Getting Closer

Adam went out of the forest and ran towards a area with small-medium cave. This was where the 1st boss of this area would be, there's usually 3 bosses each area. They each drop different things, different exp, and have different levels. The boss Adam was going to solo was level 10.

'Phew, finally made it. I wish they added zone teleporters, but that's not until the later updates. Right now I need to find the quest giver,' Adam thought as he looked around. The boss area was filled with beginnners and level boosters. 'Found him, he's next to the campfire,' Adam walked to him while overhearing the conversations and bickering of other people.

"I can pay you $25 if you can carry me against the 3 bosses of this area," 1 guy said to the level 25

"Make that $30 and you have a deal," he answered.

Another person who was the party leader criticized his healer, "If you had healed me and our tank, we could've killed him!"

Adam sighed as he listened to these conversations, 'The things people do to make a name for themselves,' he thought. Adam arrived near the campfire and talked to the npc for the quest.

"Hi, you look sad. Is there perhaps something bothering you?" Adam said with his best smile.

The person looked like he was about 13 but Adam knew that he gave a good starting accessory along with exp.

"A-Ah yes, my sister was taken right before my eyes...agh..," the kid said crying again.

"There, there, everything is fine. What is this 'thing' that ate your sister."

The kid sniffled and said, "He was green and..and..he grabbed my sister. I was knocked out before I could see it better. Can you get my sister back?"

"Sure thing, I'll get your sister back," Adam said as he comforted the child.

Adam looked at the quest in shock, 'It seems like I can't do this quest or boss until I get 'Void Regent', I'll need to go farm the boar miniboss again,' Adam thought. He thought for a while until he found a possible answer. 'I did get the class when the 1st main quest was over. Could it be that the class I got was part of the main quest? It's possible, I'll need to check to check out this quest.' Adam never did research on the first quest as he thought that since it was over, the information wasn't needed.

Adam went back to the boar and killed it 1 more time and got another set of gear along with 2 levels.

'I'm ready now, time to go to that place.'

Adam went back to the city, he went to the slums. Now the slums was a place where not to many players explored except for 'Red Players' and players part of the Holy Church. There was 1 place in the slums that did business and that place was called the 'Drinking Hole.' He went inside, there were players but they were players that were most likely part of the leading guilds. This class must be part of the quest if there are already level 76's here. The top leaderboard player was level 87 and this game was only out for a fucking year.

Adam didn't want attention on himself when getting the class so he thought of a plan. He went to the bartender, ordered a drink, wrote something on a small piece paper, passed the drink along with the paper back to the bartender. He went outside, put on a hood and went behind the tavern. He waited, and waited...and if you'd believe it, he waited some more.

10 minutes later the bartender came to him.

The bartender asked him, "How do you know of the Void?"

This bartender wasn't from this world, he was from another dimension called the Void. This first main quest had something to do with the Void and the players were suspicious of this bar because of 'something.' Adam couldn't find anymore but he knew this person as he was the one who gave him the class.

Adam answered, "I believe we should introduce ourselves before we talk business. We also need a place more private. There seems to be some rats following us."

The bartender smiled, "I didn't like keeping my identity a secret anyways. Sure, I'll teleport us somewhere so we can have some privacy."

With a snap of his finger, the bartender teleported him and Adam to the orb. The place where the orb was kept was glowing purple. There were purple light shining through the rock walls.

"We're here. Why don't you do us the honor and introduce yourself first," the bartender said.

Adam took off his hood and said, "Sure, my name is Adam..I need the orb for reasons that I cannot tell you."

"Straight to business now are we. My name is Apotheosis, guardian of the void," Apotheosis said.

He continued, "I could give you the orb, however you'll need to prove yourself. I planted a seed within a person, you'll need to convince him to join my lord's cause. He is extremely important, if you can do this I'll give you the orb. You'll also join the cause once you take the orb anyways."

"Alright, I'll do this job of yours. Anything else to add onto this request?" Adam questioned.

"None, now you may go, I'll need to change locations. Find me at another alleyway. Actually, here, take this," Apotheosis said as he threw a stone towards Adam.

Adam caught and asked, "What's this?"

"It's a location beacon, it'll show you my location once you have the boy. You'll know more once the 'orb' accepts you," Apotheosis answered.

Adam nodded and he pressed the teleport button. He looked back at Apotheosis and told him, "I'll be back soon, prepare the orb."

Adam disappeared in a flash of white light. Apotheosis just laughed, he looked at the orb.

"Is this the reason why you've chosen him? Hah, you're quite amusing aren't you," Apotheosis chuckled.
