chapter38 Eventful

* 'nowhere in particular, I'm taking the rest of the day off in search of adventure'

'can I tag along?'

'sure'

~~~
with Grace driving and Lucas in the shot gun sit, they would sometimes talk but most times, they drove in a comfortable silence.
~crush completely forgotten.
not even close but, at least it shouldn't get in the way of their supposed fun filled day.
fingers crossed.
"uhm- hey, I heard that Jasmine has been harassing you this past month" Grace scoffed
"I want to apologize on her behalf"
"why? I thought your engagement broke off. you're not responsible for hear" Grace said wearily. the last thing she want to hear today is that Lucas and Jasmine are still engaged
"we are not in any kind of relationship but I feel like that am responsible for her rampage. I can't tell you how so please don't ask"
"sure"
Grace has just confirmed straight from the bulls mouth. Lucas has no relationship with Jasmine.
the Hope she thought she killed blossomed again with full force.
~~~

Grace has always been a grounded person. literally and figuratively. she doesn't jump, skip or dilly dally but, she has always wanted to fly. she would always stare out the window whenever she'd travel by plan and imagine what it would feel like to glide in the clouds thus leading to their first stop. sky diving. .

"wow" Lucas appeared to be genuinely excited. "this is unexpected but then, always expect the unexpected, right?"

"y..yeah, yeah sure"

"you have never gone sky diving, have you?"

Grace shook her head frantically, mostly to dispel second thoughts. she didn't come all the way to chicken out at the last minute. not to mention that this is an opportunity to hang out with Lucas.

she tried to distract herself with how stunning Lucas looks in his all black diving suit but damn, her imaginations are so different from the real thing. Grace was used to being strapped to her sit when on a plane.

who knew, sky diving requires jumping out of a plane. the plane was over a hundred feet above the ground and approaching

'the drop zone'. Grace has always considered herself to be brave and courageous but she could almost feel chicken feathers popping up on her back.

Lucas must have sensed her distress

"you want to do this right?" Grace nodded "then you can do it. it may seem frightening now but I promise you, you will enjoy gliding in the sky" Grace nodded again and this time with conviction.

she couldn't help but smile. Lucas is here with her, doing the most spontaneous and -out of comfort zone- thing she has ever done before.

'maybe the universe doesn't hate me as much'

"WE HAVE ARRIVED AT THE DROP ZONE. GET READY TO JUMP!"

Grace was still hesitant until Lucas said:

"here. hold my hand" how can she refuse such a mouthwatering offer. she held his hand and he squeezed gently. both hands were clothed with gloves, it might just be her imagination but she felt like she was being electrocuted. the sparks felt so real and blissful. she squeezed gently too

"ready?" Lucas asked and Grace nodded eagerly

and off they went, gliding through the clouds,their hands still connected.

she felt like she was falling from the heavens. the wind against her face, the view beneath and beside her. absolutely breathtaking.

Grace was terrified at first, not only because of the sky diving exercise but the thought of doing something new and different scared her. her schedule has always been set on stone. wake up, go to work, come back home read a book or watch TV and go to bed.

on weekends when she had no excuse to go to work or has no social events to attend. she spends her time shopping or lazing around her house. she didn't like weekends very much. words cannot express how grateful she is to have Maya, Anna, Mark, her Dad and Trevor in her life. she is even grateful for Lucas's presence in her life. without them she would have been a shallow shell.

she didn't know what drove her to leave work in search of a adventure but she is glad she did. she is having fun. with Lucas. what more could she possibly want.

after skydiving, they went golfing which was surprisingly difficult. who knew, golf doesn't just involves golf clubs, score holes and sunshine but also angles and projections and other stuffs. she has been to golf courses a few times but she never learnt how to play. she has always been intrigued by the sport. the landscape, the finesse of the players and tiny white balls. everything about the sport screamed posh.

Grace gave up after numerous attempts at the sport. her balls always goes far way from the score hole or not far enough. sometimes she couldn't even hit the ball at all so instead, she watch Lucas play. he looks so fine in pressed brown pants and baby blue polo shirts and white tennis shoes. Lucas seems to be enjoying himself on the field. her focus turn to watching his arm muscles flex every time he swings the golf club rather than watching him play.

"hey Grace!" Lucas called

'did my dear Lucas call my name without any form of formality attached?' Grace gushed

"Grace?" the way her name rolled of his tongue made her gush all the more.

she didn't notice when Lucas approached her. standing so close to her that she could smell you sweet scent. it was faint on the new clothes he was wearing but she could still smell and she just can't have enough of it.

Lucas tapping on her shoulder brought her back to reality

"why did you stop playing?"

"in case you haven't noticed, I'm horrible at golf" grace huffed

"if you want, I can teach you"

it is safe that Grace immediately jumped on the offer

he tried demonstrating, for her to follow but that didn't work. something about her form being all wrong. so he stepped behind her and instructed closely. he brain went into over drive when he placed his hands on hers, showing her how to hold the golf club properly.

"very good" he praised "now strike" she did as she was told and the ball successfully rolled into the score hole.

"ahh!!" she screamed and hugged him on impulse.

'wait.. I'm hugging Lucas and he is hugging me back. we are hugging!'

she could died right there with no regrets.
