chapter67 Mommy issues(2)

"so.. how's everything is good with your dad?"

"great"

"and with your ..mom?"

"awesome"

"I miss you."

"don't be so corny"

"but it's true, I haven't seen you in three days"

"still corny. we called and texted everyday"

"it seems like you haven't missed me at all" Lucas huffed over the phone.

"that's not true" Grace rushed.

"let's me take you out tonight. if you're not busy"

"sure. I'll see you"

"bye"

"bye"

Lucas was being corny but it warmed her heart. it actually caused a raging inferno in her insides.

truth be told, despite her. explosive. crush, she thought she would be single forever or would find herself in some kind of arranged marriage at the age of thirty five or forty. life is full of surprises.

"I was a better boyfriend"

how could she have forgotten about Trevor. sprawled on the her office couch drinking from a juice box.

"riiiight" definitely not true.

"what? I was an amazing boyfriend"

"you kidnapped me"

"in my defense, you broke up with me before I kidnapped you. awesome boyfriend"

"great defense" she scowled. "you have been here since morning. why is that?"

"my mom is back" Trevor whispered sadly.

it took her a few seconds to find words to respond.

"where is she?"

"in my house. "

"what? how dare she. she has no right to just 'come back'." this woman has been gone for seven year and absent in her sons life for way longer. mom were supposed to love, care and be there for their children, they give their life for their children.

"did you talk to her?"

"nope.. I have actually been staying in your apartment all that time you were away" when she went back to her apartment yesterday night, Trevor was there. dressed in casual clothes, eating ice cream while watching TV. she was in the mood to question him so, they watched a movie together before calling it a night. when she woke up, he was still asleep on the couch. still no questions asked. but then, he followed her to work. he literally spent the entire day lounging around in her office while drinking different flavors of juice boxes.

"you have to kick her out."

"i can't. she is my ..Mom?"

"is she?"

"hello! friend!!" Maya barged into her office like she normally does "oh.. hi Trevor" she wouldn't call Maya and Trevor friends but Maya no longer wants to claw Trevor's guts and that's enough.

"hello" Trevor greeted.

"I'm detecting major say vibes from this area" she gasped like she figured everything out. "did his cute fat cat you were telling me about die?"

"no. and sloth isn't fat she's just ..big"

"sure. keep telling yourself that"

"then what's wrong?" it wasn't Grace place to talk out about Trevor's personal problem so she just shrugged. "I know we are not on the best of terms but my sister told me that before she went all crazy, you treated her right and you were there for her. plus, you are Grace's close friend and as the saying goes; the friend of my friend is ..my friend?" that is not how the saying goes.

"just some minor mommy trouble"

'minor?!'

"you know how his sister is a major jerk?," she didn't wait for Maya to answer "his mother is way worse. the only motherly thing his mom has done for him is to give birth to him. she disappeared for over seven years and then she just comes back, move into Trevor's house like everything is fine and dandy!"

"oh." Maya mouthed "typical case of bad mother101"

"she isn't that.. bad"

"uhm hmm. take it from one child of a horrible mother to another. holding on to hope that 'isn't that bad' will mess you up.. badly. you are almost thirty right?"

"almost twenty nine" he answered.

"you're grown. you have lived long enough without her and you turned out okay. rough around the edges but okay. Mia tried hard to please my parents hoping for their affection but it drove her crazy. literally."

"I can't just stop caring"

"I know" Maya sighed sadly. "I still care too even after everything. I still care. but that's life"

"I guess you are right" Trevor mumbled

"of course, until Gracey, I'm actually a genius"

"don't make hit you." she would have done so already if Maya wasn't helping Trevor through his emotional turmoil. 'everybody is having mommy issues nowadays'

"I just wish she'd disappear again and not come back especially not to my house but I can't throw her out. she is my.. mother"

Maya let out a hysterical laughter with an undertone of psychological pain "you are speaking to the master. I have kicked my mother out of my house more times then I've had a conversation with both my parents combined"

'disappearing parents, neglect, craziness. and I thought I had mommy issues' Grace felt dumb for not appreciating her mom in her death. having a good mother is a blessing she took for granted. she spent years whining and groaning about not having a mother but she couldn't even relate or compare to Maya and Trevor's issues.

"can you guys come with. you know- for moral support while I -kick my mother out of my house" he said that last part in a sad whisper.

"sure. why not. came over here to sulk on how crush still isn't giving me any attention and this new intern at work is giving me too much"

"maybe Mr intern has a crush on you" Trevor said.

"gross" Maya huffed "the kid is nineteen or less.. Grace aren't you coming?"

work hours hasn't ended yet and she told Lucas she would go out with him after work.

"she has a date soon" Trevor answered for her.

"oh. okay. I'll tell you about it later"

"no.. I'm coming along, I'll text Lucas that I can't make it. this is more important". it truly is.

she packed her bags, texted Lucas and is now ready to support the kicking out of Trevor's mother.

"if there is a next life, my mom better be different and amazing or she shouldn't bother giving birth to me" Trevor grumbled as that got into the car.

"true and true" Maya agreed

'nope. my mom is great the way she was -is'
