Chapter 28 Like Father, Like Son

[Stephanie's POV]

"See? It's easy!"

Let go of Patrick and choke Carl with just one hand. I had no idea how Arthur managed to do those while saying that.

"Carl!"

"Hell!"

Demon Forest's members didn't even react until their future alpha was caught.

Carl's feet were off the ground, and his hands struggled to slap Arthur's arms. But all I could see was his face, which had become red from congestion and lack of oxygen.

I couldn't let Carl die at Arthur's hand. Again, it's my personal vendetta against Carl. Arthur shouldn't have helped me get revenge.

"Arthur!"

"Steph, that's horrible!" As I was going to dissuade Arthur from killing Carl, Rose's trembling voice rang in my head.

"The aura emanating from around our mate's body is too powerful. No, it's terrifying." After that, she just muted.

I was not feeling scared, honestly. However, when I looked around at my pack members, including Patrick, they all seemed frozen in their spots.

"Steph, please, could you ask him to stop? Carl is dying!" Freya, with teary eyes, pleaded with me to get Arthur to stop.

"Shut up, bitch! He deserves it!" Kane shouted to her.

"He's really gonna kill that bastard! We should do something, Steph!" Patrick sobering up from his shock, grabbed my wrist.

I realized Carl's face was almost turning purple, and his struggle was getting weaker.

"Just be clear, Steph, once I let this bastard go, it may be difficult to kill him and that she-wolf as easily as this time in the future." Arthur turned to me, though I didn't understand why he said 'difficult.'

[Arthur's POV]

I smelled the scent of wolfsbane from those two fuckers when I met them in front of Steph's school. But it's extremely faint, which wouldn't cause harm to wolves.

Judging from the smell of wolfsbane I caught at the territory borderline this morning, their pack already had wolfsbane in it. I even doubted Triton could be the mastermind of this matter.

No matter what their plan was, it was definitely not good.

What were the Demon Forest wolves planning, and how did they avoid the effects of wolfsbane? I was supposed to figure them out for Steph or Eric and for myself. It was my duty to eliminate any danger on my territory as the alpha king.

But I couldn't control my urge to kill the motherfucker when listening to his nonsense to slander Steph.

Defame the girl he once loved only to make irrelevant ones believe he cheated because that girl hurt him.

How crazy to have such a jackass!

How dare he slander my luna!

I choked that bastard's neck. He was struggling with pain.

Seriously, if Steph were not here, I'd probably just let Paul come out and break their necks, just like what I did in the previous world.

"Arthur!" After hearing Steph call my name, I had eased the force of choking Carl, who was about to faint.

I'd understood she wanted me to keep him alive. But she probably forgot no one stopped the two damn things when they killed her.

And she didn't know the wolfsbane thing.

Considering Triton's style, if I let them go, it was highly likely that he would be more alert about wolfsbane and not allow the two things to show up.

I should have reminded her.

"Arthur, both packs' wolves are coming close. You'd better kill him now!" Paul sensed their wolves and pushed me to move.

"You don't have to get your hands dirty, Arthur. That is between the two of them and me."

"Again, she's too kind!" Paul sighed in my mind after hearing Steph's words.

"Very well!" I loosened my grip. The jerk knelt directly in front of me and took several deep breathes of fresh air.

"What are you doing?" It's Triton's shout.

Looking at the old fellow rushing towards here, I chuckled and shook my head.

Some guys would pay for their wickedness with their lives. Some lucky dogs would not, like the two suckers.

"Next time, take care of your neck before you spit out your inanities," I warned that lucky dick and turned around my head.

Her golden-brown eyes told me their owner felt anxious now after she noticed her father and Triton were coming. But she seemed to forget I was on her side.

"Our alpha is coming to save us. Let me go!" That omega was good at judging the situation.

"Don't move! Bitch!" The she-wolf who grasped that omega's wrist turned to look at Steph. She released that omega until Steph nodded at her.

This gamma she-wolf and the other White Star Lake pack members, including Patrick, were impressive. They fully trusted Steph.

Not only that, they even ignored the important agreement between the two packs and began to declare war on their friend pack after Steph slapped that jerk.

This reminded me of how Eric panicked yesterday when he was informed of Steph's injury. It seemed they were overprotective of Steph. Or my Luna needed this kind of overprotection for some specific reasons.

No matter what, one problem at a time. I was ready to meet my old fellow at first.

[Stephanie's POV]

Seriously, Carl's racking cough couldn't soothe my nervousness.

Here they were, my father, Mr. Dodgson, our principal, head of the grade, and most of our teachers.

Things were getting serious.

If following the original plan, Mr.Cranston should have started his inspiring speech for ten minutes. But unfortunately, his speech was unexpectedly replaced by a drama.

And several minutes ago, he and other teachers found the drama had gone worse, and none of them dared to stop the Alpha King. So they went for our fathers.

Noticing the principal's long face, I shook my head. If he could control his lecture duration to be as short as his time calling his alpha and my father to the school, the drama might come to an end before the classes began.

"School closed today. Go home, puppies!" As they arrived, Mr. Carnston shouted to the students, which of course, did not include the main characters of the farce.

"Carl, my son! "

"Father..." After hearing his father's call, Carl, who had not fainted for ten minutes, finally passed out.

I shot him a disdain, but I didn't dare to look up because my father was holding a solemn face. I would probably be grounded.

"Steph, you're not hurt, are you? Feel good? " He grabbed my shoulder and looked me up and down as if to make sure I wasn't hurt.

"I-um, I'm pretty good, Dad," I answered.

Unexpectedly, my Dad's reaction was almost the same as Patrick's. But why? He didn't even know what had happened.

Did I look like I got hurt?

But the current scene was, I was standing here, reasonably healthy, well, physically and mentally. Carl was lying on the ground with his eyes closed and Arthur's fingerprints clearly on his neck. Plus, Freya's eyes were swollen with tears.

So, obviously, I was not the one who needed to be cared for.

I noticed Arthur's raised brow when hearing my father's concern. He must have been as confused as I was.

"20 years, Arthur," Mr. Dodgson stood up. His dark green eyes were about to burn with his silvery gray hair in an angry fire.

He yelled at Arthur, "we haven't met for 20 years. I admit I didn't pay my formal visit last night because I had a headache. But I'm going to meet you today. See how you take revenge on me? by killing my son?"

Woah~ Why I didn't realize it before? Carl inherited his ability to speculate on others from his father.

What was that old saying?

Like father, like son!

"Like father, like son!"

Just the instant I thought of it, Arthur voiced it. My heart skipped a beat. Because it was the first time, I felt we were on the same wavelength. Or, maybe I had chemistry with him.

"He's not dead. And you should have thanked me for keeping him alive, Triton, because he offended me. " Arthur smiled at Mr. Dodgson.

"How could my sensible son offend you?"

"Your sensible son cheated on my sister and calumniated her with nonsense."

My brother never let me down.
