What is it?

The only thing that occupied the room was the sound of

a knife hitting the chopping board. We were all busy preparing

for dinner, as the three of us decided to divide the task for

chopping the vegetables into small pieces. Upon the potatoes

turning into small cubes, we heard the doorbell rang from across

the main door.

"Who was that?" Oddette asked. She was staring right at

me and so I shifted my view towards the quiet Miranda, who was

now smiling at us. "Do you know the person outside the door?"

she added, creasing her forehead to my roommate.

"Yes," Miranda responded.

"It's Miranda's boyfriend," I added. Oddette only nodded

her head towards my remark before placing some plates on the

table.

Oddie was in the living room, watching his favorite

sports show when a man emerged from our back in the kitchen.

"Hey babe," a voice said. When we turned to glance at

him, we saw Alfred going towards Miranda. He gave her a peck

on the lips before shifting his gaze towards us. "Ladies," he

added with a captivating smile on his lips.

"Hello, Alfred," I greeted. "This is my friend Oddette." I

pointed towards my best friend. "And, I'm sure you already met

Oddie, her brother. He's the one who opened the door for you."

Alfred only nodded his head. "Oh yes, hi Oddette," he

greeted.

"Hello."

"Alright babe, go and join Oddie in the living room.

We're almost done here. We'll just call for the two of you when

we finish," Miranda interrupted and gestured towards the other

room.

Alfred didn't say a word and only obediently went to the

living room.

A bitter smile crossed my lips, seeing how the man was

eager to follow her words. My thoughts were screaming guilty

from the time I came back from work. I didn't expect myself to

catch my roommate doing something lewd in her room with

another man; how she and her partner mocked her boyfriend

while being bound into one. I shook my head. It's a pitiful

situation but I don't have a say in it.

Anyway, the one who's most likely not loyal is none

other than Zoren. He played me in the palm of his hand despite

having a fiancé!

I squeezed the remaining cutlery in my hand, looking

lost in thoughts when I heard my friend talk.

"Hey, Emmie, are you alright?" I looked at Oddette who

was nudging me. "It seems like you were preoccupied with

something," she commented while her face slowly turned into a

frown.

"I'm sorry, did you say something?" I asked, scratching

my head.

"Well, yeah." She rolled her eyes on the side. "I was

asking you if I should call for my brother and Miranda's

boyfriend already while the two of you serve the food," she

explained.

I let out a small chuckle. "Sure thing," I responded.

When we were now busy dining altogether in the room,

the only thing you could hear was the cluttering sound of

utensils.

As I put a portion of food on my mouth, I saw Oddie

open his mouth to speak.

"I'm planning on staying in the Azula resorts on the

upcoming Friday night," he mentioned. All of our attention fell

on him as a smirk crept into his face. "After all, in just a few

weeks, everyone will go back to school and I'll need to go back

to work," he added.

"Does that mean we're invited?" Alfred asked.

"Of course." He nodded his head. "I also just want to pay

for the delicious meal your girlfriend cooked for all of us," he

commented and turned to look at Miranda.

As my eyes shifted towards my roommate, my forehead

creased. Her face turned crimson as Oddie complimented her.

"Thank you," she said, acting shyly.

I don't know if I'm just reading too much between the

lines but Miranda feels like she's flirting with Oddie and she's

even doing it in front of her boyfriend! I secretly clicked my

tongue, looking disdained. I don't think my thoughts are

impossible, especially with me knowing her secret.

"We'll be staying for two days there?" Oddette asked.

Her eyes were glimmering in delight as she looked at her dear

brother. "That would be a great idea! It's been a long time since

Emmie and I visited a resort! I'm sure we'll all enjoy it!" she

said, full of excitement. Her hands motioned to clap before

turning to look at me.

"Do you still remember it? When was the last time we

went out overnight in a resort?"

"After our moving up ceremony when we were in tenth

grade," I responded.

"Yes, you're right, that's more than a year." She smiled

after putting a spoonful of food in her mouth.

After a while, we all exchanged ideas and continued

with small talks until we finished our meal. The two gentlemen

then exited the dining room as the three of us tidied up the dining

table. We all agreed to watch a movie while it's still early and so

we immediately finished with washing the dishes and headed

straight back to the living room.

Alfred sat on the carpet beside his girlfriend, Miranda.

They were leaning against the sofa as Oddette and I were about

to motion and sit on the single sofa when Oddie suddenly spoke.

"Come and sit behind us so you can watch properly," he

suggested, to which it thrilled me; I can sit near him.

The first movie we watched was in the humor genre. It

was 'Imagine that' portrayed by an actor named Eddie Murphy.

The room was filled with countless laughter, enjoying

the characters and the plotline of the work. Upon finishing,

Miranda then suggested a horror film.

I got up from my seat and immediately thought of

making popcorn. Having snacks to munch away while watching

something spooky is always the best, after all. I saw the rest

heading towards the washroom as I prepared the utensils.

As I motioned to stand on a stool and reach for the top

cupboard, I heard someone speak from behind me.

"Do you need help?" Oddie asked. Upon being startled

by his sudden appearance, I almost fell down the chair if it

weren't for his body supporting me.

One of his hands was holding onto my waist as the other

supported my weight. My face sunk into his sturdy chest as I was

holding the jar of popcorn tight in my hands.
