Midnight

It was already close to midnight when James decided to

drop her to her room. The party was still going based on the loud

sound coming from the other side of the resort; however, she was

already too tired to care. Upon opening her door, she

immediately went her way inside the washroom and had a quick

shower. The day was exhausting, the sky was past asleep. When

she finished wiping her hair, she didn't realize she immediately

dozed off.

"What's the meaning of this?" she asked, raising one of

her eyebrows.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm done with you," Oddie coldly

replied. Emmie didn't expect to see her partner having to lay with

another woman by his side. Her face turned bright red in anger

as she stared right through at them.

"Seriously?" she asked, dumbfounded at the situation.

Her teeth were already close to gritting, wanting to attack them

but she stopped herself.

The man only laughed at her as if she was something

pathetic. "I dumped you because unlike you, she's way better in

bed," he added, looking at his partner. Her arms were caressing

his chest as Oddie planted a sweet kiss on her forehead.

This is bullshit.

"You're nothing compared to her. She could do a lot of

things for me while on the other hand, I always have to make

amendments for you," he continued. There was no hint of

hesitation in his eyes. She clenched her fist.

She can't believe she's hearing this.

"Go find someone else."

Upon hearing his harsh words, a stabbing pain crept into

her chest. Tears immediately wanted to roll down her eyes but

she stopped it and turned away. Her throat became dry, her heart

racing and her mind filled with countless thoughts.

She didn't even know where her feet brought her; only

the thought of his cold eyes staring right at her while saying

those words engulfed her being.

Again, was she only used for pleasure?

Her body continued to walk off with no direction. She

doesn't know where she wanted to go nor did she care at all. Her

eyes were blurry from the tears, her chest gaping from sadness.

As she continued to travel towards the eternal hallway, she only

stopped when she bumped into something.

When she opened her eyes, the ceiling was the first thing

to greet her. Emmie got up from where she was lying, only to

notice she passed out on the cold floor.

"It was all a dream?" she thought to herself, however, it

felt so real.

Her eyes then landed towards the quiet empty room. The

window was open, the curtain was flowing thinly at the bright

color of sunlight. A sigh escaped her lips. She was probably so

tired yesterday that she didn't even realize what happened. Her

smooth fair colored hand brushed past her face. It was time to go

to the washroom.

She knew her phone was also dead and only cared for it

after doing her morning routine.

"What happened to you last night?" Oddette asked.

When Emmie finished with everything in her room, her best

friend immediately came to see her with a serious look on her

face.

She frowned. "Can you at least say good morning?" she

sarcastically asked.

"I'm sorry, good morning. Now, can you tell me? What

happened to you last night? Why didn't you go back? My brother

called you several times but you never picked up," Oddette said

worriedly.

"I'm sorry." Emmie lowered her head. "I wasn't feeling

well last night so I didn't come back. My phone was also on

silent," she lied. She then lifted her gaze a little and checked if

her friend was buying her story.

"How are you feeling now?"

"Much better," she replied, giving her a dry smile.

"I remember that you're not fond of loud music and

crowded places." Oddette said. She bit her lip, looking guilty.

She didn't expect her friend to be this concerned for her. A bitter

smile crept into her face as she remembered her dream from

earlier; a woman who is out of her reach, someone who can

match Oddie better than she can.

Upon getting ready for breakfast, Emmie invited her best

friend in as she fixed her things in her wardrobe. It's been a while

since she started blabbering about small things again that she

finds it a little surreal.

As she continued to focus her gaze on the closet of her

room, she suddenly noticed Oddette stop talking. She could feel

her friend's gaze at her with such tension, a chuckle escaped her

lips.

"Care to share?" she jokingly asked.

There were only a handful of times when she became

like this; silent and strange. It was when her brother went

overseas or those times when she's troubled.

Wait...

Her eyes widened for a second, her heart racing. Is this

about Oddie?

She immediately turned around to look at her friend,

only to meet her serious eyes.

"It's about Oddie," she mentioned
