Their new last day went exactly as they wanted it to. Going out and leaving their dads home. Coming back and packing up once again, resting and by evening, they were ready to do what they had intended to do the evening before.

The brothers came out from their various rooms and stopped in the kitchen where they saw Raina sitting on the counter, talking to someone who they realized was their dad. His back was to them but the black hair they all shared was unmistakable. Sawyer inched closer and stood beside Raina while Tom made the move to see what his father was doing. “…and when we applied it to the actual-“

“You’re making dinner?” Tom interrupted Raina as he looked down at the green pepper his father was dicing.

“Yeah.” Travis said, most of his focus on the work he never really got to do and whatever was left was listening to Raina talk about her classes.

“Oh okay.” The lack of care in his voice, no weight of any sort in the words.
