=Jenny’s mouth hung open in shock. “Two weeks?” In one of the three classes they had together, they drew chairs to sit with Jenny while waiting for their teacher.

Peggy nodded with sad eyes. “Did you actually take the bus?” Aida asked. Peggy nodded again. “Why didn’t you call me?”

She had more than just her punishment on her mind. Trip had been calling and texting her and coming over. She ignored and locked herself in her room to avoid him. He didn’t really care about her; he just wants to perfect his baking. She can’t fall for that shallow care. Not anymore. She answered, “She took my phone. She really thought this through. I won’t get it until I get home. When she’s home.” Her voice was tiny with the pressure of her punishment. One day in.

“Why didn’t you let Tanner cover for you?”

“Because he was acting like he owned my soul. I won’t let him have that.” Aida agreed with a quick tilt of her head.

“That’s clearly an overreaction.” Jenny stated.
