She Fails To Remember

Days passed and Emma didn't wake up. Dr Angelica said her health was improving but I didn't feel too sure until one day, she said something that shocked me. Her hand began moving and she cried while in the coma "Believe me. I did not murder anyone. Please call my brother. He has made a mistake." I was shocked and I immediately called Dr Angelica.

She took me out of the ward and explained "I think she might have remembered something. That is the only reasonable explanation for all this." I nodded and went back to Emma's bedside. Two days later, she moved a little and then woke up. I screamed joyfully and called Dr Angelica. Emma rubbed her head tiredly and asked "How did I get here? Jeff, is that really you?"

"Yes", I replied nervously and explained everything about her accident but to my surprise, she kept quiet. Had she regained her memory? Suddenly, she hugged me and said "Thank you for caring for me these past few days. I am really grateful." I smiled and said "It's no problem but I need to ask you a few questions." "Ask", she continued. "Do you have any strange memories or thoughts?", I asked. "No. I feel just fine. I am still Marina Daisy, a well renown actress. You know my parents - Mr and Mrs Daisy. What's wrong? Why do you ask?", came her reply.

That meant she didn't remember anything about her past. But she had said some things about her past while in a coma. What was going on? I immediately took Dr Angelica aside. "You said it was possible that she could have remembered something.", I began. She looked as confused as I was and said " It's possible that whilst in a coma, hurtful memories from her past could have come to her causing her to scream and shout but now that she has awakened, she does not remember anything. Be careful though, it means she is on the verge of regaining her memory. We'll discharge her tomorrow but please try not to stress her and take proper care of her."

I thanked her and went to buy food for Emma. As I was feeding her, she hugged me and kept thanking me over and over again. The next day, I was shocked to see Mr and Mrs Daisy. "We're here for our daughter. We're here to take her home.", they began. I wanted Emma to be with me but I knew there was no use fighting with them before she would get upset and her head would start aching. No! I couldn't take that risk.

I agreed to let Emma go with them but she didn't want to. "Please", she begged and continued "I don't want to be with anyone else except you." I felt heartbroken but if she stayed with me, more harm might come to her. I smiled and dried her tears. "Look. Please do not cry. I promise to visit you everyday and bring you your favourite flowers. Let them take care of you, okay?", I said trying to hold back my tears.

Mrs Daisy dragged Emma's hands and said "Let's go." "Ouch!", Emma yelled. That was it. "How dare you drag her like a toy? You can see she's just recovering yet you still don't want to show her any mercy. That's it. I'm not leaving her with you people for even a second. I can take care of her myself.", I yelled. Mrs Daisy looked at Emma and said sternly "Marina, tell your friend here that you want to come with us."

Next, Emma said something that shocked me and them "You can't force me to mom. I am twenty two now. I can do whatever I want and go wherever I want. It's not your business." Mrs Daisy rushed towards Emma ready to hit her but I held her hand and threw her on the floor. She winced in pain as Mr Daisy rushed to help her up. I looked at her sternly and said "Do not ever try to hit her again. Got it? Or I will make your life a living nightmare. " Then I turned to Emma and said "Let's go Marina." I took her hands and left the couple in complete shock. Outside the hospital, she said "Thank you for always being there for me. I truly appreciate." I smiled and hugged her and we got into a taxi.

Immediately we got to the hotel, she fell asleep and I smiled. Little did I know another problem awaited...
