Chapter 4

Now I am facing a situation that I have dreamed of in the last three or more years. That is to become a slim and healthy person. Standing in front of the mirror now made me realize how well gifted was I this Christmas. From the corner of my eyes, I can see that both Dana and Aria are looking at me from time to time. The changes shocked them. After waking up, Dana was having a hard time recognizing me.

"Are you still all that surprised?" I looked at them and asked.

"Yes." Dana nodded her head, "It's not every day that you see someone loses thirty pounds of weight in a single hour."

"It was way less than an hour."

"You look handsome now," Aria added from the side. "I can imagine my sister being with you now. Previously, it was painful to watch you sleep with us in the same room. Now it's more tolerable." She said all that in one breath and without a single pity. My eyebrows were twitching.

She thought of me what before?

"Well, you seem to grow a tongue!" I looked at Aria, who focused on putting the peanut butter on top of the biscuit. We found these large ones in the house we stayed in a few days ago.

"So, this means you are much stronger than before?" Dana asked.

"Yes, I am at least three times stronger than before."

"All because of some godly gift that you received?" Dana looked me in the eye.

"Yes, how many times do I have to say it. You were useless before, and now you are even more useless." I got up and headed towards the door. "Pack up as fast as you can. Don't waste any more time. We need to get out of this freaking town as soon as possible." I felt like even my voice was sharper than before. That's a good thing. I like most of the changes that the system has brought. I also hated a few things, like I am having to grab my pant while walking. As I got slimmer, these didn't fit anymore. Let's see If I can get a fashion house nearby to snatch a pair of pants. If not, I can just use a rope as a belt until I find suitable pants. The T-shirt was also sagging, but that was easier to endure than the pant.

Before heading out, I grabbed an iron pipe. This is another weapon that I had before. The baseball bat is left in the purple demons hideout. I don't even want to think about that place, let alone go and retrieve the bat.

I went out into the street, and everything was sunny and peaceful. Only if the world stayed like this even in the night!

I walked a bit in the eastward direction. Cannot see any shops or showrooms that used to sell clothing. This section of the city might have been only used for commercial purposes. There were a few coffee shops, but that's it. I have found an apartment building. I can find clothes in there, but I don't want to take any risk waking up those monsters. The ghouls might be just like that purple demon. Sleeping in the day didn't mean they slept like the dead. I walked a bit here and there and found nothing. Then decided to go back. The girls were stupid, but they would not move an inch into the streets unless they were with me.

Just as I was heading back, I saw a small thing behind an abandoned car on the street. I got close to it. It was shining in the sun.

A small folding knife. Small enough to keep in the pocket and large enough to do some primary self-defense with this. I picked it up. Maybe the owner left it in a hurry. I opened it once and then closed it. It was smooth and had no sign of wear. I opened it again and made a stabbing motion. Not bad; the blade was large enough to damage ghouls severely. I folded the knife, kept it in my pocket, and then walked towards where I came from.

In front of the building where we stayed last night, the girls were standing with ready bags. I went towards Aria, brought the folding knife from my pocket, and offered it.

"For you, merry Christmas!" I said with making my voice as hard as possible. I didn't want to be too soft with her. She is the worst of these two. If she gets to do what she wants, we will be dead within a week or less.

"Thank you!" She took it and checked it once, then tried to jump at me to hug me, and I pushed her away. She didn't mind that much as she handed me my bag and started playing with it. I didn't show her how it works. But I think she will find out pretty soon.

I looked at Dana, and she smiled at me. I wanted to hit her beautiful face and that smile. Last night I almost died because of her and her sister. But instead of hitting her, I only creased my brows and showed her how annoyed I was at them.

"Let's go." I turned towards the road and started walking. I had the iron pipe in my hand. Before, I didn't carry weapons in my hand during the day. But last night or evening's experience changed my thinking. These demons and monsters are not what we think. And whatever I have learned about them so far should only be a fraction of the truth about them. I should not let my guard down anymore.

We walked for an hour or so in the streets. The abandoned cars made it harder to move forward. I always liked to walk in the middle of the road after the apocalypse. Anything could come from either side; I should not take any risks. Some demons or humans could snipe me from a distant position, but I doubt that I am an important or valuable enough person to be sniped by humans, and I also doubt that any demon would do that. If there was a demon, who could do that. I hope God makes it so there aren't any demons like that.

"Hey, look, there are some people out there." Aria pointed to a tall building. I couldn't see anything.

"What is it?" I was annoyed.

"Look at the roof." Dana and I both looked at the roof of the building, and there were a few human heads like things on there. Judging from the position there were in, they were scouting us. I raised my hand and waved at them. All of the heads went down behind the railing. I blinked and looked at Dana; she was surprised too.

Then before I got to say anything, the heads resurfaced, and now they were standing upright. Most of their upper body was visible. They also waved at us. I waved again. They then pointed at the bottom of their building and then crossed their hands.

I was surprised again. What are they want to say? They again pointed at the bottom of the building and crossed their hands. I understood then, they did not want us to go to the bottom of the building. This meant there was a nest on the building's lower floors. Most probably ghouls. If there were any demons like that Purple Demon, I don't think they would survive and live long enough to learn more about these creatures.
