Chapter 14

Joshua's P.O.V

Precious invited me over for lunch and we found her mother drinking tea with a certain lady in the kitchen. Well Mrs. Simons was happy to see me at her home and I assume that it's because I was gutsy enough to stand up for her daughter. She allowed us to sit in Precious' room but ordered us not to close the door, like any other parent would. She was still with the lady but this time she was preparing lunch for us.

I sat on the chair beside the bed, Precious' room was such a girly room, the wall painted in pink and so many girly quotes pasted on the wall and the mirror, but she was a girl after all, I can't complain.

"So, you want to talk about what happened today?" I asked.

"How many girls did you kiss in your life?" she ignored my question.

"You can't answer a question with a question," I replied.

"But me, answering your question with a question," she said "simply means that I don't want to answer your question."

I giggled and we exchanged looked.

"You have beautiful eyes," I said.

"You have such green eyes," she replied.

This girl had a response for everything I said, I looked at the mirror and there were colorful notes pasted there. I went close to read what she wrote and one caught my attention, a note written, "A RARE PRECIOUS BREED"

"What is this?" I asked.

"What?" she replied.

"A rare precious breed," I said "what is it?"

"It's just a phrase I came up with," she said "when two unlike species get intimate, they create something unusual, something so special."

"For example," I replied "if a werewolf and a human being got intimate?"

"Something like that," she said "but werewolves never existed."

She really didn't buy this werewolf story and since I was one, I couldn't just come out of my closet just like that because she was going to freakout. She strongly disagreed with the fact that werewolves actually existed, imagine if she found out that one of them was in the room with her. I went back to the chair.

"So, what makes you believe that werewolves do not exist?" I asked.

"You being in your right state of mind," she said "do you think that a normal person can believe in wild dogs that can change into a human being?"

"Well…"

"Exactly," she interrupted me "it's nuts, this is just a popular myth we are being told. IT'S A SUPERSTITION!"

"But you'll never know," I replied.

"GUYS FOOD IS READY," Mrs. Simons called us from the kitchen.

Precious rolled off the bed and led the way to the kitchen probably glad that the conversation ended when her mother called us. I thought that Mrs. Simons was preparing any kind of meal, I mean it was just lunch but what I came across when I go to that table was a serious feast. Mrs. Simons could cook, just like my mom her food was just as scrumptious as my mom's food. We all settled on the table then Mrs. Simons glanced at me but I pretended like I was not aware that she was busy looking my direction.

"Thank you for looking out for my daughter Josh," she said.

"Well, it's all a pleasure ma'am," I replied.

"Mom, you're making him nervous," Precious said.

Mrs. Simons laughed and began eating her food, well Precious was right about her mother making me nervous. Since the time I saw her angry in Mr. Johnsons' office, I knew that her daughter was none of those girls you weren't supposed to mess with. I just smiled and started eating my own food too. After eating, I said my goodbyes then Mrs. Simons started doing the dishes while Precious walked me to the car.

"Your mother is amazing," I said.

"She has her moments," she replied.

"Like today in Mr. Johnsons' office?" I asked.

"Yeah," she replied "I don't like her when she's angry, that's why I never say anything to her when I get bullied. She just gets possessed by this weird demon when she gets angry."

"Like you today," I said.

"Go home Josh," she pushed me while laughing.

For some reason Precious didn't want to talk about what happened in class earlier today. When I got home, people were laughing and joking, I pushed through the front door and everyone was in the sitting room including my mother. They were all having fun like they never had a very big fight the previous night. I slowly walked to the room they were in, I was confused and when my dad raised his head, he noticed me standing at the doorway.

"Hey buddy," my dad said "come sit."

'Are they drunk or something?' I asked myself. My mother and my grandma have never in a million years shared a single joke but right now they were actually laughing and patting each other's back like best friends. My dad speaking loudly and laughing was so unlike him. I sat beside my dad, which was right opposite my mother, they all looked genuinely happy.

"Son, you know that you are the future of this family, right?" dad said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"What your father means is that you will soon be the leader of this clan," my grandfather said.

"I know that," I replied "but why are we having this conversation."

"There's a division in the werewolf kingdom son," my dad said "since the kingship has been handed over to your uncle, he wants everything the werewolves do, to be humanly and for us as werewolves to be led like humans."

Uncle Bas was more of a black sheep in the family, I grew up knowing him as a very bad person. There was a time he was accused of slaughtering his own family and then that resulted in him being banished from our clan. He was clever enough to gather a pack of werewolves that were wrongfully accused just like him, and came back to prove his innocence then also fought for equality between werewolves and the humans. The previous year, my dad and his friends attacked a group of humans so the kingship was stripped off my dad and it was given to uncle Bas, who was the current king in the werewolf kingdom.

"But I thought that's what you all wanted?" I asked.

"It kills our nature and our culture," my grandma said.

"Grandma is right son," mom said "we are werewolves, we can never be like the humans, no matter how we try."

"Mom you're supporting this?" I asked "I thought all you wanted for me was to be more than just this vicious species. I don't hate humans and I love being around them."

"We just to protect our culture and you are the future of this culture and this tribe," my granddad said "don't be like your uncle."

I stood up and looked at my mom who somehow supported this nonsense that my dad and my grandparents were proposing to me. I wondered what changed her mind.

"Count me out," I said as I walked way "and you can banish me if you want to, I will move in with uncle Bas."

I walked to my room and threw myself on top of my bed, I couldn't believe that I was slowly gaining some compassion for the humans. It felt weird but deep down I knew that I was doing the right thing. I opened my phone and there was a text from Precious saying "thank you,"

"I told you that it's my duty to fight for those that I love," I replied her text.

Precious was just amazing and kind. Although I saw her get on top of a table and revealed to the half of the school that the naked girl on the picture was her, nothing changed to me. In fact, she showed me that she could be brave if she wanted to. Samantha was left speechless. She sent me so many texts after she realized that I ditched her for Precious.

"How can you choose that slut over me?" she said in one of her texts.

I went on that date with her because I was still unsure about Precious but when I found out that Samantha was putting her through something like this, I had to stick around for Precious. Right now, Samantha was at war with both me and Precious. As I was still in deep thought, there was a knock on my door.

"Come in," I said.

My mom walked into my room.

"I hope you are not here to convince me to accept whatever it is that you guys are pushing," I said.

"Sweety just look at the bright side," mom replied "we are doing this for you."

"No, mom," I said "what did they do to you? How did they manipulate you into agreeing with this?"

"Honey, we are not humans, no matter how we try," she said "we can live in humanly houses, walk in their form and eat their food but we are not them, you need to understand that."

"Mom, can you please leave my room," I said.

My mom gasped and then her tone changed from sweat to pissed.

"First of all, this is my house," mom said angrily "my house my rules."

"Okay then," I replied as I rolled off the bed "since it's your house, I'll leave."

I grabbed a coat since it was a little bit cold outside and I could feel it when I was in my human form. I walked out of the room as my mom came after me yelling.

"Where do you think you're going?" mom asked "Josh! JOSHUA, I'M TALKING TO YOU."

Without answering her question, I rushed through the staircase and jumped into my car as my mom tried to stop me. Dad joined her and tried opening the door but it was too late I started the engine and drove out of the garage, before they could even do something to stop me, I drove away.
