Chapter 17

Precious' P.O.V

After a very disappointing day at school, Angela came through to check up on me and I could hear her and mom making noise in the kitchen, probably talking about me. Their laughs eventually stopped and Angela came straight to my room.

"What're you guys laughing about?" I asked.

"Nothing of any importance," Angela replied as she closed the behind her "I heard that you stormed out of campus today, what happened?"

"Well, let's just say the school is protection Samantha," I replied.

"Why? What happened?" Angela asked as she sat beside me on the bed.

I sat up and put my head on her shoulder.

"Mr. Johnsons said that they won't be able to investigate my case," I replied.

"What? Why not?" Angela's tone changed.

"Samantha's dad is a millionaire, dummy," I said "whatever he says, stands."

"Have you told your mom?" Angela asked.

I took my head off her shoulder and looked away from her, she knew that it was my gesture of saying no.

"Precious, you have to tell her," Angela said "you know how she feels about you not telling her when you are being mistreated."

"But friend…"

"No, don't but friend me," Angela interrupted me "you have to tell your mom or I'm going to tell her."

Mom opened the door without knocking and stared at us, my heart started beating faster hoping she didn't hear anything but the look on her face showed that she heard everything we said.

"Tell me what?" mom asked.

I cleared my throat and glanced at Angela who just looked down on the floor.

"I don't have the whole day," mom added.

"Mom, were you eavesdropping on our conversation?" I asked trying to guilt trip her.

"First of all, this is my house," mom said "I can do whatever I want."

I remained silent deciding whether I should tell her or not. I didn't want to tell her because she would go to school and cause drama or maybe even get us into trouble.

"Angela, aren't you going to say anything?" mom asked.

Angela coughed a little bit and glanced at me.

"Well, Mrs. Simons," Angela cleared her throat "Precious just told me that the school does want to continue investigating her case."

To my surprise, mom never fumed like she always does when she found out that I was keeping secrets from her. This time she came and sat beside me, then started rubbing my shoulders.

"You need to start trusting me, baby," she said with a soft tone.

"Aren't you going to snap?" I asked.

"I knew about the case and the school not investigating your case," mom smiled "Mr. Johnsons called."

"So, what now?" Angela asked.

"They are not getting away with this," mom replied "if the school has strong allies, we have stronger ones."

I looked at my mom wondering which allies she was talking about. As far as I knew, her only ally was our neighbor, the one who believed in werewolves.

"You have allies?" I asked "the werewolf lady next door?"

Angela and I laughed as my mother jumped off the bed and went towards the door but stopped and looked back before leaving the room.

"And Precious," mom said "you need to stop hiding things from me. I'm your mother, I deserve to know what's going on in your life."

I nodded as she walked out and closed the door behind her. Angela and I both started laughing at the fact that my mother said she had an ally. We decided to take a walk and go chill at the park for a few minutes. It was already 6 PM so my mother made it clear that we weren't supposed to stay more than 2 hours out there because it was getting dark, she was probably afraid that the so-called werewolves would have us for dinner.

"Where is your boyfriend anyway?" Angela asked.

"I have no idea," I replied "he's not taking my calls, he's not returning my texts and he didn't come to school today."

"Is he avoiding you?" Angela asked.

"For what?" I replied "I mean we were just fine last the last time I saw him."

"You guys didn't have an argument or something?" Angela asked once more.

"Enough about Josh," I replied "what about you? Any new boyfriend?"

"No, my life is boring at the moment," Angela said.

"What happened to…"

"Angela?" a voice came from behind.

We turned and it was the one and only Tony Jones, our 10th grade class mate, the one who had a secret affair with Angela. But this time he was more decent, he was wearing decent jeans, Nike sneakers, a white t-shirt and a leather jacket. Gosh! Where did those muscles come from? Tony was just the skinniest boy in the class and now he had those meaty biceps under that leather jacket, he was handsome this time.

"Oh my gosh," Angela jumped and gave him a hug "Tony!"

"Hello, Precious," Tony waved at me.

"Hi," I waved back at him.

"Oh my gosh, look at you," Angela exclaimed "I'm so happy to see you."

"Yeah, life has been amazing lately," Tony replied.

"I'll leave you too to catch up," I said as I walked away.

"I will see you in the morning dummy," Angela said "don't be late."

"Yeah, right," I replied "bye Tony."

"Bye, Precious" he replied.

How Angela reacted when she saw Tony was more than him being just a secret lover once upon a time, she seemed like she was still in love with him, the look in her eyes told the whole story. I unlocked my phone and I came across mom's thousand text messages.

"Precious, I said don't stay out until it's dark there are werewolves out there. Come back home NOW!"

I giggled after reading that text, why were these people such strong believers of this so-called werewolf existence? I hurried, trying to get home because I was afraid that mom might snap and come looking for me. I was kind of disappointed that even this day, Joshua was still saying nothing but I had to give him his space, if he needed it.

As I walked past a passage, not far from my place I heard woman scream from the other side of the street. My heart started racing as I started jogging, if the woman who was screaming was being mugged then definitely those criminals were going to come for me too.

"Hey, lady," a group of me whistled at me.

I increase the speed and started sprinting as they continued to whistle at me. When I looked behind, they were still coming for me. I was now running faster and they were also on the chase, I got to the corner that is not far from my place; I got tripped and fell on the ground. The group of men finally caught up with me, I tried escaping but one of them held me by my foot.

"Please leave me alone," I pleaded with him.

"Shut up," the one that looked like their leader yelled at me.

I started heavy breathing and screaming and trying to fight to fight back, one of them held me tight that I couldn't more, like someone held me with superhuman strength.

"Gentlemen," their leader said "this is meat for the night."

I started crying hoping that they let me go but one of them just pulled me by hair and I just screamed. No one was going to help me out because people in this neighborhood always believed that when it gets dark, werewolves come out to play, so they'd never go out to help every time they heard someone scream for help.

"Guy's wait," one of the guys said "isn't this Josh's girlfriend?"

They all froze and trying to see if I really was the one, he was talking about, as they were trying to figure it out, another member just opened his eyes wide and started walking away.

"Am not getting myself into trouble," he said as he slow walked away "I'm getting the hell out of here."

The other group members followed him and only their leader was left behind. He just silently stared at me and I continued shaking out of fear.

"Well, you're lucky," he said as he followed his friends.

Immediately after they left, I just stood up and ran for my life.
