Chapter Eight - My encounter with Jayden Bennett

In The Library

At Skye Evander High School

After entering the colossal crescent building which happened to be the library, I took my time to familiarize myself with the building. It had ancient and intricate designs and I could tell that it was newly renovated.

"Thank Goodness, this school has a library." I mumbled happily to myself and breathed an air of satisfaction. Back then in Hamill Dayle High School, there was no library at all. There was just an ancient lair where unwanted books and other stuffs were dumped and anybody could go pick up their choice from the book piles.

"Of course, this library has everything one needs. Course books and manuals and this and that..." Caitlyn said to no one in particular. Seems like she hates going to the library.

On the other hand, I could see Shelbie scrawling on her note pad. She started assigning some tasks to the other girls and I. Such a bossy girl! I wonder if I she had ever smiled. But her face still looks smooth and fresh but she never smiled, how is that possible?!

"Khloé, you'll search for books in the historical aspects." She said and Khloé dashed off immediately.

"Caitlyn, you'll search for books in the literal aspects such as anthologies, gothics, dissertations, poems and non fictions." She commanded and Caitlyn went away grumbling and mumbling.

"And you Jemima, you'll search for books in the religious aspects." She said and went away to get her own books from whatever aspect. God alone knows where the shelves for religious books were. Luckily, I found Khloé. She also seemed to be confused so I quickly walked up to her, maybe she could help me find the way to the religious aspects or something like that...after all, a problem shared is a problem solved.

"Hey Khloé! Seems like you're perplexed?" I asked with worry in my voice. Of course, I could see sweat beads mustering up and her emerald green eyes filled with desperation. Who wouldn't be confused and desperate when given such a hard task to do?

Khloé then saw me and sighed in relief. "Thank God you are here! Please can we switch tasks? I'm not very good in history and Shelbie knows so. But I'm very good in religious studies."

"Oh!" I exclaimed. "Seems like you're related to a priest or religious head?"

Khloé then nodded in affirmation. "Yes! My grandfather was a clergyman, I used to spend my holidays with him so he teaches me some religious stuffs. My cousin's stepfather was a layman and they visit me frequently on weekends so..."

Wow! That was enough reasons for me to take up her history tasks. I love history but the subject was too complex, full of dates and mystifying names. I decided to take her task.

*****

"I'm almost done with my tasks. I'll just take these few books and hop back to Caitlyn and Shelbie. They're at the other end of the library." She said and was about to leave. There she stood awestruck like she saw something celestial or dazzling.

"Hey Khloé! Why are you standing still like you're paralyzed or what?" I asked her not minding if she could hear me or not.

Khloé then snapped out of her daze. "I'll just leave you with your visitor..."

"Visitor?!' I asked myself. I wasn't expecting any visitor at all. "What visitor are you talking about? I'm not expecting any visitor."

Khloé then picked up her books and her stuffs and left while singing out her words. "Seems like you've got a tête-à-tête with a big shot...?!"

I sighed out of anger and then turned around to see this visitor. He was walking majestically towards my cubicle and I could sense his intimidating, powerful and asphyxiating aura.

"Hi, I'm Jayden Bennett, from the Flintstone Family. I'm sure you're the newbie that just logged into this high school. Nice to meet you." He said with a such friendly tone and fuzzy smile, extending his hand for a handshake. The name 'Flintstone' echoed in my ear. As if I heard it somewhere in a random discussion but I pushed it all behind as I focused my attention on him.

"The... pleasure is... certainly mine..." I replied as I forced myself to speak. His palm was soft to touch yet he looked and acted like a hardie guy. I separated myself from the handshake and smiled back. He looked so handsome, very handsome that I could melt in his gaze. His shoulder length chestnut colored hair and ultramarine eyes complimented his masculine beauty. His perfect contour and alluring lips fit for a kiss were all top notch.
