Waltz of Chaos

It was friday afternoon in the gym and Ms. Silvenda was letting us all practice our skit with a partner. Camm and I, of course, went to practice our first few scenes together in a corner of the gym. However, it didn't take long for things to spiral out of control, literally.

Kayhari and Lance must have been practicing the ball scene where the evil prince and I would meet, because they were waltzing. Well, Kayhari was making up steps as she went, claiming it to be in the plan, and arguing with Suki who watched them. Lance, as usually would have rather be anywhere else in the magical world than be involved in whatever was taking place in the middle of the room.

"I have to dip Lance at that part. It's in the plan!" protested the pink-haired girl. Her hysterical shouting made class all the more... interesting.

"But that's what he's supposed to do!" Suki attempted to reason with her.

"Are you saying I'm not enough of a boy to do it?! He ways as much as me... I think."

Suki sighed, deflecting her mocking. "No, I'm just trying to keep the dance and the show in the same time period."

Then Kayhari proceeded to grab Suki by the shoulders and shake her back and forth. Suki was to tired to put up with her, "Just, just do whatever you want."

The poor girl limped away as I turned to Camm. "Anyway, where were we?"

"It's your line, after I say 'the world fall apart without the king,'" replied Camm, flipping through his script. "Did you highlight yours?"

"Were we supposed to?" I asked, starting to go nuts at the possible consequences. "Is that part for a grade? Do we need to put our names on the scripts?"

He chuckled the slightest bit. "Here I can do it for you later. Use my script for now."

He handed me the newly banded papers, colored in neat notes and underlining. "Did you already memorize your part?"

"Just up to the scene we are on. It's short," he ruffled his brown hair. When did he find the time?

I read the lines off the page as I imagined myself as the dazzling mermaid princess. "The world should crumble if not for his kind rule and should crumble around the one he associates as my future husband!"

"My lady there is not a soul that would agree with the last part of your statement," Camm replied. "Don't make it the reason it falls."

"But there is so much more than the life everyone told me about!" I shouted hopefully, getting more into character. "Don't forget the time we snuck away to eat candy in the village."

Camm grinned. "Princess, I don't believe I recall."

"An obvious lie! You took me just last week," I continued with rage in my voice.

"You deceive yourself. It was no more than a dream of colored illusion!" Camm crossed his arms as he raised his voice. Soon, we were two Mer-people arguing in another time period. But, disaster stuck again when Kayhari seemed to use Lance more as a punching bag than a dance partner. She flung him around, managing a moderately graceful yet chaotic twist on a classic waltz

In the locker room, after everyone had left, Aqua kept me behind. "Hey, I need to talk to you about the necklace."

"What is it?" I stood up from the bench I was sitting in to put on my shoes.

"You need to be a little more careful when it flashes like that," Aqua suggested, but I didn't know what she was talking about.

"What do you mean?"

"I would have expected you to notice by now," replied the cat in an exhausted tone as I looked down to see that it was flashing a small bit. "Humans really are dumb."

"I don't feel like talking to you today," I turned to leave, but saw something... Two people standing in the doorway. They had likely caught wind of the entire conversation. One girl's eyes widened as she trembled, as the other one looked deeply disgusted.

"Lily?" Suki and Laura asked in unison. "Your human?!"

The next thing I knew, they were out the door and running down the hall to catch up with Ms. Silvenda. My identity had been reveled. Aqua, for once, flew as fast as she could to catch up with them before the girls started spreading rumors on the way to the authorities. I was on the verge of losing it as I ran down the hall behind her.

Dashing and turning around every student, Suki and Laura busted through the door of class M-5, "MS. SILVENDA!"

The few students that had already congregated there looked up. Ms. Silvenda stood up and rushed over to them with intense concern for their entrance. "Are you two okay? What happened?"

Laura looked down as Suki stood taller, her anger emanating. "Lily's a traitor."

Everyone looked over to see me in the doorway of the classroom. Aqua and I looked at each other. This wasn't going to end well.
