SIERRA ANAPHEL s POV
"I m Eldrich. What s your name?"
Hearing his name gave me a weird electrifying feeling that I couldn't describe. He really is my mate, isn't he? I mean these are the symptoms Alpha and dad talked about. Feelings of joy, love and ignition of various emotions which made me delusional to the point I would never wish to leave their embrace.
I continued to look deep into those entrancing brown eyes that drew me deeper into a euphoria that I had never experienced before. Feeling like hours had gone by, I continued to stare at his perfect features: cute puffy cheeks, a perfect jawline that could slice rocks, his alluring eye smile, which was illuminating the dark forest surrounding us, his plump lips that I want to kiss, alluring voice that could make you feel heavenly when you hear its music and his perfect build which made it clear he worked out. I continued to stare forgetting his question and all the pain I was in until he spoke again,
"Are you okay? Can you hear me?"
Snapping out of my dream like stance, I was about to answer him when I felt a sharp pain course through my body like a bolt of lightning. I felt my body becoming weak and everything going blurry until it all went black.
ELDRICH s POV
I saw my mate open her mouth to answer and suddenly, she turned pale and collapsed on to me. In fear I shook her to try and awake her, but nothing happened. Touching her face, I felt her skin freeze my hand. Fear and worry filled me as I held her lifeless body. I felt tears that I never knew I had filled my eyes as reality hit me.
I was going to lose my one and only mate.
Snapping back into reality after gaining a yelling from my distressed wolf, I picked her up only to feel a warm liquid. I looked down to see a large wound on her arm which looked like bite marks. Anger was soaring through me. Someone had the audacity to not only make her injured to this extent, but they also touched her with their filthy wolf. I was going to kill not only the wolf, but the pack that decided to raise the filthy monster that touched my mate.
I sprang into action as I felt her warm breath slow down. I ran faster than I ever had before and mind linked my brother, Sapheus, the best doctor in our pack, and his mate to meet at the pack house immediately. They had to save her, she was my mate, my luna.
I ran through the forest right to the pack house to be met with the concerned eyes of Sapheus and Henrietta, his mate. They didn t know what was going on as all they heard was me yelling furiously yet anxiously in the mind link to meet at the house immediately. I had cut my link straight after my order and didn't explain anything else.
"Alpha? You called us—" Sapheus started to only be interrupted by my loud growl, which I had never used against the elites. After all they were my closes friends.
"Brother, please save her!" I yelled in panic as I placed my unconscious mate, that I had yet to know her name of, on the operating theatre.
Henrietta gasped as she saw the state of the poor girl unconscious and lifeless. Without a second thought both Sapheus and Henrietta jumped into action. They didn't know why but they had an urge to protect this girl.
Sapheus took me out though I wished to stay, but deep down I knew brother was right. Against my will I left my mate in the hands of Henrietta and Sapheus as I waited outside feeling like the world was coming to an end.
I knew deep down that she will be fine, but I couldn't help but worry. I finally found my mate after all these years, but I am about to lose her. I don't even know her name or why she was being chased but I felt like if I lose her, everything will be over.
I lifted my head to be met with Daemon and Ulysses. I felt the closest to them, excluding Ulrich, probably because we were all around the same age. The first one to break the silence was Daemon.
"Eldrich, what happened? Who was that girl and why are you covered in blood?!? Are you oka—"
"You re asking too many questions?" Ulysses nudged Demon before he could finish with his bombardment. I knew he cared when he questioned anyone like that, but it was quite annoying sometimes. And Cristus too understands the annoyance of the 'Battle of words' as he calls it. Being the only one that can keep Daemon quiet, excluding his mate, I leave the 'control Daemon mission' to him. Out of the guilt of responsibility I choose to answer their questions.
I will explain the whole story later. The girl is my mate, and that blood belongs to her, not me."
I heard my voice cracked at the end of my sentence, but I didn t care. They were friends. Yet I couldn't remember the words of dad echo in my head. I can't show my weak side. I am not allowed as an alpha. Shaking off the voices in my head, I watched as the two took in the new information. There was a deafening silence for a few seconds until
"Your mate?!?" Both Daemon and Ulysses yelled.
"Wait, that means that's our Luna!?!" Bellowed Ulysses in realization.
"And she s injured?!?" Followed Daemon.
Before I could answer Sapheus came bursting through the doors. I stood up in anticipation and worry. I could see that something was wrong. Brother never treats things harshly because he would have to clean up the mess later. He must have seen the worry in my eyes as he smiled. But I could tell it was a fake one, it can't be
Sapheus opened his mouth and said, "I m sorry."
"I'm sorry"
My breath hitched as Sapheus started. Nothing but negative thoughts were racing through my busy mind.
She's gone.
My mate s already gone.
I met her just to lose her?
I couldn't protect her.
I could feel fresh tears begin to form.
I felt like everything was on the verge of collapsing. I didn t want to hear what Sapheus was gonna say. It was obviously something bad. It had to be. I mean he's upset. Yet, I couldn't stop myself from listening to him, praying it was a joke.
Part of me still had the hope that my mate was still alive. I mean I'm not going crazy yet.
"I'm sorry...but could you all SHUT UP!!!" Sapheus bellowed at the two wolves in front of him, completely not realizing he's making the most noise. He clearly was talking to us all but only faced the other 2.
I felt anger fill my veins much more than my fear when he yelled at my 2 elites and me because,
1. I'm the Alpha and no one can tell me what to do,
2. He is clearly making more noise then us and
3. My mate is injured, probably on the verge of death and he decides to come out only to tell us to be quiet whilst he could be helping my mate. I thought something happened to her when he came bursting through those doors. Maybe something did but he clearly doesn't care enough.
If he wasn't my brother or part of my elites I would have punished him for yelling at me. But now is not the time for this. I need to know her condition.
I stood up and faced Sapheus whilst ignoring the other two who were pouting because they were yelled at.
"Brother is she okay?" I stated in my most monotonous voice I could muster but I could hear the minute crack in my voice.
Sapheus immediately stopped glaring at the youngsters as he turned to me with a more professional stance.
" Well I have good news and some bad news. Which one should I report first?" He answered in a serious tone with a hint of tiredness masked within.
I could tell he was tired from all the injuries that he has had to deal with this week, on top of being with his mate that he finally found 2 months ago. It was stressful for him as his job was important but so was his family. I honestly couldn't be happier with the commitment he has but I don't want him to be like this. After this is over I should probably give him some days off...
"Just report her condition like you always do" I answered. Honestly it doesn't matter which news comes first. You would receive both news at the end whether it's bad first and good last or vice versa.
"Okay Alpha... Her condition is stable at the moment though she has lost a lot of blood. She's healing surprisingly fast even for a werewolf which caught me off guard but in this case it's a good thing. By her speed of healing she should wake up in a few days..."
I sighed in relief to hear that she was going to be fine but then I remembered Hyung hasn't said the bad news and I begin to worry. I place my full attention back on him.
"Having said all this...there are some negative aspects.."
Sapheus paused and took a breath. This caused worry to run through me.
"From her physical injuries she seems to be healing perfectly however her mental waves are irregular. The waves are erratic one second then calm the next. It's almost as if she has no control over herself."
"Sapheus! Come here quickly!!" Henrietta's voice interrupted my thoughts. She seemed panicked. Sapheus ran in instantly and me and the other two, who were still pouting, ran in after them.
"What's happeni-?!?"
I started to only be halted by the sight in front of me....
Eldrich s POV
There a silhouette stood with tears dropping from her eyes whilst her mouth was covered with her trembling hands. Surrounding her were the shopping bags from different stores in the humans' town not so far from pack territory. Her gaze was stuck on the lifeless body in front of her whilst her body began to limp and she would have fallen if not for the fast movement from her mate.
"Anaphel! Be careful! Are you okay? Let me see!" Jenson caught his mate in his arms whilst examining her face and body to see what happened to her.
Jenson had found his mate a few years ago. She was from a pack which kept themselves hidden from others. How did they meet then? Well according to Cristus during a mission he had hurt himself and before he passed out smelt an intriguing smell which made him forget the pain. Just before he fell unconscious he remembers someone asking if he was okay. He woke up in a cave with someone helping him and that someone was, you guessed it, it was Anaphel. They had marked each other on that day which led to Anaphel joining us.
Anyway, soon Jenson quiets down after making sure his mate was absolutely fine but Anaphel was still sobbing whilst muttering 'sorry' countless of times. Cristus had gotten her to calm down after kissing her mark a few times. How I wish I could do that..
Once Anaphel had completely stopped crying apart from some sniffles I began to speak..
"Sierra.." She visibly tensed when she heard my voice which caused a growl to erupt from Jenson. It was natural to become protective over your mate therefore I allowed him to growl despite him growling at the alpha. Under normal circumstances he would get a punishment but I had to talk to Sierra. She knows something about my mate. I can sense it. The only kind way to do that is to talk to her whilst her mate is here. So in the most calmest voice I could muster I began to question her...
