Chapter 4 Rejected

"Anaphel.. do you know her?"

When the words left my voice I could see she became slightly uncomfortable. Am I really that scary? I again questioned. I need answers.

"Anaphel answer me... Do you know my mate?"

When I said that I heard a few gasps from Sapheus and Henrietta as they didn't know she was my mate whilst Anaphel's eyes shot up and looked at me in surprise. This confused me but I lost that feeling when she began to talk...

"Yes Alpha. I know her. She's an old friend. Is she really your mate??"

To say she caught me of guard would be a lie. Not only does she know my mate but she suddenly gained the confidence to question me. What happened to the timid girl from a second ago?

I could see I wasn't the only one caught of guard. So was Cristus and the others. It was the first time Anaphel talked to me whilst looking straight into my eyes without fear.

"Yes she is my mate. Why do you ask?" I answered her in a less calm voice as I was not one to accept any signs of disobedience in any of my pack. Don't get me wrong, they are allowed to be confident but they are not and will not use a disobedient tone with me by questioning me.

"No reason. I'm just surprised that she's here. I heard they all died so I automatically thought she was dead too." She replied unfazed by my change in tone but showed a hint of sympathy and relief.

But something caught my attention. Died? She almost died before now? And who are they?

She must have read my thoughts when she replied. "Alpha.. If she's your mate I think its better to tell you something about her. But in order to do that, it's better you understand the relationship between her, me and the pack as a whole."

I automatically nodded my head and sat down on a chair next to Daemon, whilst we began to listen to Anaphel.

Anaphel's POV

"As you all probably know I'm from a pack that enjoys their privacy. In other words, they don't like other packs interfering with the way they run things and don't make any treaties with others." I looked up, I see all the boys and Henrietta looking at me as they all nod to me. I took that as a cue to carry on.

"The main reason for that is that they run the pack slightly differently. You are respected by not only strength but also for your popularity. In other words, those who are popular and strong rule the pack. It doesn't matter if you are an alpha or beta, you won't be respected if you aren't worthy. Strength is everything and without strength you aren't part of the pack and are outcasted. It's not a pack like this one. In fact the word family doesn't exist there. The strongest survive there whilst the weak.. Well they die.."

Once again I look up to see sympathy within the eyes of everyone. I love this pack truly. I experience so much love and happiness with them. I don't regret my choice leaving and now with Sienna with me, life will only get better. Cristus tightly hugged me as I realize that I had let a tear leave involuntary. But can you blame me. That place was horrible yet it was my home and was bearable because of my savior.

"I'm fine thanks Cristus. Anyway despite the rules, life there wasn't all that bad. In fact, I enjoyed it because I knew the rules were there to protect us and for our future. Not to mention, I had a dear friend. That friend was Sienna."

I lifted my hand and pointed at Sienna who was still sleeping. I then turned back around and was met with the face of Alpha Eldrich which had lightened up. I'm guessing he just learnt her name. I let a slight giggle leave me but then stopped when his gazed turn back to me with a blank face. Oops guessing I wasn't suppose to see that. Taking the silence as a hint I carried on...

"Sienna was the daughter of one of the best fighters in the pack. He was a proud and loyal member who everyone looked up to. The same was said about Sienna. She was the strongest female wolf in our pack. She was known to be quick and agile so she used that to her advantage during a fight. Her family was quite high ranking and just like all other high ranked families they were arrogant and heartless. They wouldn't care about those that were weak and at times would even abandon the weak and defenseless stating they were useless.

It was impossible to talk to them if you were in a different rank and even if you were in the same rank, if your family had a lower rank than you, you were seen as an abnormality and bullied by the others. It was the worst type of bullying. Yet Sienna was different.

She actually cared and helped those who were weaker then her. She also stood up for the weak and wasn't afraid to talk out to those of higher rank than her to protect other. Therefore Sienna was quite popular amongst the pack members though she did get hate from the higher ranks. She was perfect to us all on the outside. Strong, kind, beautiful yet she was also imperfect. Sienna never showed her true emotions to anyone. She always wore a masked and due to this no one knew what she was going through. Not even me, her best friend." My voice began to crack as I remember everything that I saw that day. The day my view on Sienna changed completely.

"You don't need to say anything else if you don't want to. Please don't cry."

Cristus took me into his arms as a waterfall erupted from my eyes. I wanted to curl up tight in his warm embrace and not say anymore but i wanted to tell everyone more about Sienna.

"For the first time in my life I saw Sienna weak and defenseless. She was in a cave a little way from the pack and hurled up in a ball whilst crying her heart out. When I approached her she immediately stopped crying and hid her face from me and tried to act cheerfully. The fa?ade didn't fool me. I knew something was wrong and wasn't going to let it go. After some tickle torture, which I must say is the best torture for her to spill things, she finally told me that her mother had passed away. What shocked me wasn't that he mother passed away, it was rather how she did.

Sienna had lost her mother during one of the packs fight in which Sienna was the target. Apparently her mother had found out that the enemies main reason for attack was to kill Sienna. If they got rid of the brains and strength of the pack then the packs gone. Her mother had covered her from and attack which was cause by a silver bullet. A bullet shot by a human. The shot killed her mother on the spot. Sienna said she didn't know about this until the end of the fight till she saw everyone surrounded her mum's dead body. To make it worse her father and brother didn't shed a tear. In fact they used this as an opportunity to get Sienna temporarily suspended and she was temporarily expelled from the pack. She couldn't attend her mothers funeral and she lost everything. They didn't give her anything food wise and just threw her out the house. I had heard that her father and brother were jealous and heartless but this was going too far and everyone knew it.

Despite all this Sienna still smiled and made camp in the cave. I saw her everyday and every now and again we would get some children and extra visitors which made Sienna smile from ear to ear. Unfortunately I had to leave her soon after due to finding Cristus, which let me say I don't regret. Though I wanted to take Sienna with me she refused to go and wanted to stay to watch the pack to repent for her 'sins'. I left her after a few goodbye tears and good lucks and I hadn't seen or heard about her till now. I did receive news that the pack was all obliterated a few months ago and I assumed that Sienna was also killed too. But I'm glad she wasn't."

I turned to Sienna and smiled at her face that hasn't changed much apart from some small alterations. I could see the sympathy on everyone's face and a few tears from Henrietta who was now in Sapheus embrace.

"That's all I can tell you. I don't know much apart from that. Except if Sienna is going to be our Luna then I think this pack just got even better."

I turned to Eldrich and smile to which he, surprisingly, recuperated. I could see he was about to say something till there was a knock on the door. It was Ulysses. The 2nd beta of the pack. He called Eldrich, Cristus and Daemon saying it was important to which they all looked at each other then left after Cristus pecked me on the lips. Soon after Sapheus and Henrietta left and I was alone in the room to babysit Sienna. It was silent till I heard,

"Sienna? Is that you?"

Sienna's POV

After a severe headache I could hear a few murmurs in the background before they fully disappeared. I tried to open my eyes, but to no avail as bright light blinded me; rays slipping in through the windows and penetrating my eyelids.

After a few useless attempts I rubbed my eyes to try once more and surprisingly I began to see the unfamiliar scenery around me. White ceilings. Squishy pillows. comfy mattress. Silver bed posts. Quiet beeps from some machines.

Whilst admiring the room and all the luxury that was decorating the room, it hit me that I didn't know where I was. I racked my brain in an attempt to remember what had happened and slowly everything began to return to me. My pack. My family. The incident. The chase. And my mate?

That thought brought me back to the scene before I fainted. If I remembered correctly he told me his name. But what was his name again?

Elrich ?

Eric?

Edrich?

I can't remember...

Whilst trying to rack my forgetful brain, I noticed another presence in the room. It was a she wolf. I was about to go in protective mood before I noticed her figure seemed familiar. Her scent too. I had smelt this apricot smell before. That's when it something clicked. Apricot. It can't be.

'Anaphel? Is that you?' I involuntary croaked with my sore throat.

Part of me was thinking it was a dream yet I was also slightly hopeful. When the women turned around my eye's widen which was mimicked by her two. It was her. Anaphel. I'm sure of it.

'Anaphel, you're awake?!'

Her voice is the exact same as it use to be. Calm and lady like not at all like my own. Seeing her tear up I too began to tear up slightly as I slowly lifted myself up ignoring the stinging pain of my back and arm. Within seconds I was engulfed in a heart warming hug as I began to cry on the shoulder of my best friend and she did so on mine.

We must have cried for a good 5 minutes before finally calming down but still hugging each other. Anaphel wiped my tears as I did hers. She began talking about her time in the pack as we caught up on we missed. She did majority of the talking as we both avoided the topic on the dead pack.

30 minutes had passed with us talking about random memories and checking on each other. All was fine before a question from Anaphel made me blush extremely. I became a tomato that very second whilst feeling a sense of relief due to being reminded of his name with a new piece of information.

"So you're mates with Alpha Eldrich? That's cool but totally not unexpected. I think you go well together, Luna!!" She teased.

"He's an Alpha?" I asked kind of surprised as his wolf looked like an Alpha yet he didn't act like one. I mean where do you find an Alpha doing cute things and acting, well, cute like he was before? I smiled as I remembered how he tried to make me laugh despite me shoving his hand away from me.

"What are smiling about? Is it about our Alpha? Wait, I mean your Alpha?" Anaphel continue to tease. I instantly blushed even more red as she continue to make fun of me but I tried to hide it, quickly come up with a comeback.

"What are you talking about? He is your Alpha not mine! Plus what about your mate? Cristus? Do you want me to tell him about you from childhood. The girl with a choco moustache, was that what you called yourself? I'm sure he'd love to hear about that." I giggled to myself remembering that certain memory. Not to mention her shocked and embarrassed expression wasn't helping me. It just made it easier to tease her. I received an exaggerated pout from her as she faked being upset with me. She was cute when she did that unlike the ugly potato known as myself.

Before I was able to fake console her, people began flooding into the room. One ran straight to Anaphel hugging her and kissing her telling her he missed her whilst the others all looked at me. One pair of eyes caught my attention. It was the eyes from before. Once again caught up in the beauty of the them in front of me, I didn't realize Anaphel was talking to me until she shook me.

Snapping back into reality, I forcefully teared my eyes away from the brown hole that was sucking me in and gave my attention to Anaphel who was smirking.

"W-what?" Unintentionally I had stuttered which I regretted deeply as it gave more reason for Anaphel to tease me later with.

"Oh nothing. I just wanted to introduce you to my mate since you wanted to meet him earlier but it looks like you prefer to meet the alpha instead." Anaphel kindly informed me and the whole damn world too. I could see how bright red my mate turned from the corner of my eyes, and without a doubt I was bound to be that color. I get flustered way to much. I could hear the laughs and snickers from the spectators as Anaphel told them to leave with her, not forgetting to wink at me and pull out her tongue as she stood and left. I swear I need to give her a piece of my mind after this. You're so dead Anaphel!

After the room emptied I was left with my mate who had lessened the space between us without me knowing. He was next to the bed I was resting on and he sat on the stool Anaphel was on moments before. I was forcibly taken out of falling into his mesmerizing eyes again when he cleared his thought and move his luscious plump lips.

"Hello! How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere? Do you want me to call Sapheus?" He bombarded me with questions clearly still flustered by what had happened moments before. But thankfully I quickly put him out of his misery by giggling.

ELDRICH's POV

I never expected to see her awake when me and the boys returned from the little meeting. She looked a bit better yet I could still see she was pretty pale. I saw her blush when Anaphel began to tease her which was the same for me. Ever so lightly, I could feel the red tint on my cheeks too as she embarrassingly looked into my eyes for a split second and then turned away. She's so cute!! I'm going to burst from the cuteness overload.

I had zoned out to find myself all alone in the room with my mate; me sitting on the stool next to the bed. Damn the mate pull. It pulls you to them. Literally.

Not knowing what to do or say I began to question her on her well being. I might have gone a bit, I repeat a bit, overboard with all the questioning because next thing I know I am met with a little chuckle, one that was music to my ears.

I could feel my cheeks heating up slowly as my mate began to laughing more at me. To say it was the first time having someone laugh at me would be an understatement so i had no idea how to react. Without realizing it, I had raised my hand to the back of my neck and began scratching it in embarrassment. Soon the little laughter had stifled and we were left in an awkward silence until she spoke up again.

"I'm fine thank you. I feel slightly sore but for a random reason I feel calm and safe. So much so, in fact, I can't feel much pain though I remember the feeling vividly, almost like I got hit by a truck."

Sienna Anaphel looked at me and for the first time she smiled slightly. She looked so angelic and I am sure that she is the most beautiful person in the universe.

"Cute"

I had intended to say that in my mind but by the look of surprise that crossed her face, I am sure that I had said that out load instead.

-: I did not just say that out loud!?! :- But to my dismay it seemed I said it loud and clear. I tried to avoid eye contact like she did. Tried. Yet it seemed my wolf enjoyed looking at her (and also maybe me) so my eyes kept a good lock on her.

"T-thank you.... You're not so bad yourself Alpha.."

-:She called me Alpha! And she complimented me! I could die happy now! She's so cute. I just want to cuddle and mark her as mine now. But I have to resist the urge to do so. I can't scare her off. And I cant mark her without my permission. :-

Having an internal monologue I hadn't realized I was smiling to myself until Sienna Anaphel focused on me again. It seemed like she wanted to say something. Placing my full attention on to her, she opened her mouth and began to speak.

"Umm... So we are mates, right?"

She stopped and looked at me to which I quickly nodded my head as I wanted to know where this conversation was going to. -: She wasn't going to reject me, was she? :-

"So..um.. I..."

Seeing she was struggling to say something I encouraged her to talk by smiling and telling her that I wasn't going to harm her in any way. "It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. Just tell me what's on your mind."

I saw she took a deep breath to which I slightly chuckled at and then stopped to allow her to continue. "Umm. Right. Well, since we are mates.. I think we should tell each other our names." She stuttered refusing to not look me in the eyes."Well I know your name's ELdrich. I mean, Alpha Eldrich but I don't know your full name." My mate mumbled rapidly. If I wasn't used to Ulysses's fast talking I would have missed everything.

After her mumbles, the room was filled in an eerie silence till she broke it before i could. "You don't have to tell me anything if you want to. I mean I haven't introduce myself either. I just wan-"

Before she started to go into panic mode, I bursted into a fit of laughter that I held in for quite a while now. Surprisingly Sienna soon joined in, so the previous atmosphere was dispelled and now it was filled with laughter and joy.

After we both calmed down I once again broke the silence though this time it was a comfortable silence. "I'm sorry Sienna Anaphel. I totally forgot about the introductions. So let's start from the beginning with the introductions, okay?"

I looked into to her eyes to see them full of life and for a split second surprised (probably due to me knowing her name). Nodding her head she asked if she could start. I agreed with "of course my lady" to which she smiled and replied with "thank you my good sir" playing along with my charade. We were both smiling goofily at our jokes as cringy as they were.

"Hello Mate. My name is Sienna Anaphel. I'm am 19 years old and I'm a delta. It's nice to meet you!"

Feeling a warm spark within me after finally knowing my mate a bit more and her also accepting me as a mate, I returned her introduction with my own.

"Hello my future Luna. It's nice to meet you too finally. I'm Eldich!"

Looking up I expected her to smile and laugh at the way we were being formal but I met the opposite. Her beautiful smile falter and fell as she backed away from me as she started yelling and freaking out. I tried to approach her to only have her slap my hand away and yell.

"E-Eldrich?! Y-Y-Y-You-.. You're that monster!? Get away from me! I'll kill you!"

My heart shattered. What happened to her? Her clear eyes from before were now full of hatred and anger towards me. But why? She was so happy before. We were so happy before. What happened to her? And what does she mean by me being a monster? She wants to kill me? Why? Why? What's going on?

Whilst I was still discombobulated and shocked, Sienna had ran out of the room not before yelling

"Your not my mate!! And you never will be!!"

My heart shattered further into a million pieces. Ones that I feared won't be able to come together again.

She rejected me.
