Chapter 9 Behind

|(Before Leila escaped...,)|

LEILA CROSS

After seeing my reflection, I stand up from the chair I am sitting at and walk towards the knight peacefully sleeping.

I walk slowly and take a seat at the side of the bed that causes the bed to move so as her. I can't help the smile that's trying to slip out from my lips as my heart beating fast for I am too excited for my escapade.

"Hey, little girl!" I playfully call her but I receive nothing from her. Instead, her snort came across my ears.

I roll my eyes and something flickers in my eyes.

"Hmm, you're not getting up, huh? Well...," I rose from the bed and take slow steps until I reach the vanity table wherein I neatly fixed a mini-box on top of it.

As I lift it in my hands, I look at it closely and a smirk crept on my lips. Just by looking at it makes me thrilled.

I can't wait for it to happen.

I'm busy imagining things that will happen once I successfully escaped when I hear the knight's groaning. Signed that she's now awake.

"Morning, lunatic girl!" I cheerfully greet her making her jump in surprise.

"You-," I raise a brow and I laugh when she abruptly stops and behaves like a good dog.

Well, nothing's new. She's a knight serving her king as it's like a dog serving its master. But a dog and a master can't click together as it is to both of them. Ironic right?

"Now that you're awake, I no longer remember what I need to say. So, let's sleep some more, hmm?" With one snap of my finger, she slowly closes her eyes and falls into the bed.

I raise my right hand and look closely at the thin thread in one of my fingers tied as I follow where it is ended. My gaze goes at the mini vase on top of my vanity table wherein the nameless flowers are neatly fixed in a vase.

One snap of it, the scent of the flowers will explode and the subject or person I want to be the target will easily fall asleep. It'll only last for five to 10 minutes but enough for me to be away from this place. They can never chase me again. Or that's only my intuition.

Carrying one long thread, I walk towards the door and tied it on the doorknob, and let it connects to the flowers in the vase on my vanity table. Once a person opens this door, the scent will be all over the room and tada!

They will soon be affected and in that time, I'm already free from this cage.

I clap my hands twice and smile widely.

As for Wyatt, I knew that he will not be affected that easy that's why days ago, I slip out a bunch of flowers in his office. Do you remember the time when he calls me and he thought me fire magic?

That's when I put those flowers to make him intake the scent for days.

And now, today is the perfect day to make all my plans go success. How brilliant, right?

I walk towards the veranda of my room and settle myself at the edge while I close my eyes to concentrate. I raise both of my hands and clasp them together align them to my chest and take a deep breath.

I let the surge of power inside me and flows together with my blood. I feel the familiar sensation that I felt days ago when I tried to do this in Wyatt's office.

This time, I need full concentration as the power that I need to let out is not that simple. I'll make this room fills with fire. I will burn all of it, except the knight lying on my bed.

As much as I want her to be burned with the fire, I can't. She's still needed in my plan.

I shake my head mentally and concentrate on flowing my blood with the power of fire. Instead of feeling hot as it is a fire, I feel like I'm turning into a block of ice as it feels colder than usual.

Creating a massive fire is hard as I expect it to be.

It's a good thing, for the past days before this day, I condition my body or else, I'll be doomed.

If I can't make it, there's a tendency that it'll make a big impact on my body, or worst, I'll die. So, it's important to maintain my concentration and do my purpose for today.

Breathing exercise, I let the wind blows around me as I can now feel the power surging through my veins. It slowly reaches my heart up to my shoulder until I can feel it flows down in my hands.

I let loose my clasp hands and spread I like I have wings on my back, ready to fly my way out. The sensation becomes colder than before but I control it.

Lips quivering, I clench my jaw and try to relax my body.

The wind helps me throughout the time I am trying to control the power inside me. I'm still not used to this but I am trying.

And when I feel like it's ready, I release it within my hands and point at my room.

My eyes are closed that's why I can't see what's happening. Minutes pass and I still do not feel like there is fire.

Slowly, getting impatient, I open my eyes. That's when I realize, I look like crazy pointing at the room as if I am throwing my power but instead, there's nothing.

I frustratedly mess my hair and sigh.

How could it be that nothing happens?

It's unacceptable. I really feel that I release the power. The fire. But what's happening?

My knees wobble and I reach for the railings to have them support my weight. I lean on it as I stare at the room.

There's really nothing. It looks normal. I tilt my head and still stare at it as if I am trying to look for something that can cause me to not be able to let out a massive fire.

Upon staring at my room intently, my eyes slowly getting big as I catch a glimpse of a little bit of fire from the surface of the window.

I slowly stand straight as I watch how the little fire spreads throughout the room until my eyes can't catch ut anymore. I raise my arm when the fire explodes to stop it from hurting my eyes.

The fire blinds my eyes cause me to close it and when I really feel like I will be burning together with the room, I ready myself to jump down from the veranda.

I no longer think of the possible outcome of my sudden jump and land in one of the thick branches of a tree beside my room.

It's not yet sinking into my mind that I did it.

Not later that moment, it's like a lightning bolt strikes me, and what happened rushes into my mind.

I nearly jump and shout in victory when I realize that I am on a branch.

"Yes!" I exclaim and look at the fire in my room. The fire looks fantastic as it dances with the wind creating a sizzling sound. Or that is what I'm trying to imagine.

At the corner of my eyes, I see a knight guard running towards the Castle. Maybe he notices the fire.

Before he can manage to see me standing on a branch, I use my Vampire strength and jump from tree to tree to get away from that place.

The wind hits my face and hair but I did not mind it. All in my mind right now is I'm free.

I'm now free from that cage and I can look and investigate what had happened before waking up as Iris Brown.

Wearing a victorious smile, I fasten my pace until I feel like I'm miles away from the Castle.

I look ahead and my eyes shine when I see a place perfect for me to see what's happening in the Castle right now.

I put strength to my right leg as I bend ut forward and ready my left foot to jump.

When I know that I'm in the right position, I gather all my strength and jump as high as I can into the rooftop of a building that I found just earlier while running.

I hiss when I did not manage to land perfectly. I raise my hand and grab the railings and use my feet to stop the strong force of my jump. I am basically hanging on the edge of a rooftop. Tsk, what a pain in the ass.

I use my last strength and jump until I land safely at the surface of the rooftop.

When I settle myself, I turn and watch the fire miles distance from here. The clouds are turning dark gray due to the thick smoke from the fire.

"Now, that's what we call intense,"

Smirking, I turn around and make my way out of this place.
