Chapter 19

Adrian learned a threw things through this whole ordeal. He now knew how perfect his life has been until now. All the people he had met up til now, had all been nice and helpful to him. The world is much crueler than he had thought it would be.

The second thing he learned was, that he did not bad an eye when killing another human. He just killed 9 people, and damaged 2 so bad, that they could not walk the rest of their life's. This did not make him feel any remorse.

They all made their way towards the biggest house in the village now. It was brotus' house. He wanted to see how his family looked, or if he could even find their bodies.

The house was a small mansion, it didn't look fancy at all. It just looked like a normal village building, just a lot bigger. At the moment one could see broken windows and holes in the walls, because of the slaughtering earlier.

As they walked into the mansion, they could not really see that anything ever happened here. But when they made it into the living room, a big red pool was in the middle of the room, with a body, that had probably tried crawling away, laying right before the entrance.

Brotus, Alice and Henrick all recognized the body. It was the body of Alice and Henricks mother, and brotus' wife. Alice and Henrick collapsed in the pool of blood, crying. Brotus just looked at his wife, with a sad look, he had already anticipated this. He just sighed, before walking into the other rooms.

There was not really a lot to see in the other rooms, except all the broken things. There was a lot of broken windows, with all the glass scattered around on the floor.

It was then time to get into the kitchen, where all the maids and the butler usually was. It was much worse in there, than it was in the living room.

There was blood everywhere, on the walls, the floors, the kitchen tables, everywhere. As they looked around, they found four naked bodies of maids, and the body of their butler. There was also a single body, that was not from the mansion, it was one of those soldiers. He had a knife sticking out of his chest.

Alice and Henrick really just wanted to throw up, all this blood, this stank and these mutilated bodies. It is not something anyone wants to see.

Adrian was just in the back, his face was ice cold. He had now found a mission for his life, make this kingdom a better place to live.

He didn't know what to say to this small family, he couldn't really do anything. So he chose to let the family be, and mourn, hwile he would go to the guard with a missing leg, and get some information.

When he came out though, the soldier had killed himself. He didn't know how he did it, but he had froth around his mouth, and his eyes were lifeless. He then looked over at Sebastian, it did not seem like he had the courage to kill himself.

"Hey, bastard! What happened to this guy?" Adrian asked while pointing to the dead soldier.

"He killed himself!" Sebastian didn't really want to answer, but he had a feeling he should.

"I can see that you idiot, but how?" Adrian was annoyed already.

"Some magical pill they all had, and they have to use it, as to get give any information" Sebastian had an ice cold look in his eyes.

"What about you then? why didn't you eat it?"

"B-because I don't want to die!" Sebastian finally showed a fearful look in his eyes.

"Coward! Anyway, do you really think i will let you live? after this?" Adrian thought he was both a coward and an idiot.

As Sebastian heart this, he suddenly had a realization. The kid was right, would he really get out of this alive? No he wouldn't, he had slaughtered a village, but failed to slaughter his target, the target had actually captured him.

"Now, time for interrogation!" He still looked at Sebastian with an ice cold face. He did not like doing anything like this, but he had to this time.

"First, why did you do all of this?"

"I already told you, revenge?"

"Revenge for what?!" Adrian had been curious about this for a while. How big was brotus' crome?

"He stole the whole market of work in all the villages, leaving nothing for other merchants!" He said this with anger. He had lost so many work partners because of this.

"So, you slaughtered a whole village ... because of lost opportunities? is that correct?" Adrian sounded cold and calm, but on the inside, he was fuming. He was so angry, that he had to hold himself back, from sticking his spear through Sebastians chest.

"Y-yes, I lost so much money!" He was getting scared, he could feel the anger coming from Adrians calm face.

"Is your wealth worth more than a whole fucking villages life's?!!" He yelled this out at Sebastian, he couldn't hide his anger. He still had his cold façade, but the anger was clearly shown in the eyes.

Sebastian chose to not say anything, because he could feel he would only make things worse for himself. Adrian really wanted to kill this bastard, but he promised Brotus, he could do whatever he wanted with him.

An hour passed, before the three others came out to Adrian. They all had tear stained faces, and it looked like their eyes had been dried out.

Brotus went straight over to Sebastian, and gave him a hard kick in the face. A few of his teeth fell out, and his face began to swell.

"I wont kill you Sebastian, I will take you to the capital, and give you a trial!" Even though Brotus was angry, and merchants were known to be sly. He was a very honorable man, and would not do anything underhanded. That was probably also why, he could secure trade with all the small villages.

Alice, Henrick and Adrian all looked at Brotus in surprise. They all had thought he would kill Sebastian, but even in his anger, he chose an honorable road. Adrian was very impressed by this, because he knew, he himself would have killed Sebastian.

"We are going to bury this villages bodies! Adrian, are you going to give a hand?" Brotus was still quite sad, but he had to get through this. He only had his children left, he had to be here for them.

"Of course I will, tell me what to do, and I will do it!!" Adrian said, if this could help them, of course he would do it.

"Thank you Adrian, it means a lot" Brotus said.

"Yes, thank you very much!" Both Alice said this after Brotus. There was sorrow in their voices, but they were very grateful to Adrian for what he is doing.

Alice and Henrick began to dig the graves in the villages church. Adrian and Brotus were handling the bodies, taking them all to the mass graves. It was a long work, there was a lot of graves to be dug.

Two days later, they were finally done with the grave digging. Alice, Henrick and Brotus wanted some more time alone, to mourn the death of their mom/wife.

So Adrian sat himself in the center of the village, to check how his stats were doing.

Adrian looked at his stats, very excited about his 2 new skills. They were quite strong, and very useable in battle.

He also saw something he didn't pay attention to through the battle. He had leveled up from 8 to 12 in this fight, for killing 9 people. So he used his 8 new undistributed points. he put 3 in strength 2 in agility and 3 in vitality.

He was thinking that he should go for stamina and bravery for the next few levels. He needed a lot of stamina for fighting, and he just wanted his bravery to go up, so he could fight for longer and with stronger people.

1 hour later, it was time to leave the quiet village, and go towards the capital.
