To show herself out now would only bring her more trouble. Then she would have to explain to Juliet, and if Juliet got angry, she'd have to speak for George again—this kind of messy entanglement was something Aria found terrifying just thinking about.
In the few steps it took to return to the pool, Aria casually picked up another can of cold beer, and even as she was about to get into the water, she felt it wasn't enough, so she turned back for one more.
"You have to tell me who was on the phone just now. You seem entirely off, and if you don't tell me, that's really keeping me at a distance, isn't it?"
Juliet never considered Aria an outsider, so of course, she hoped Aria would treat her the same way. Juliet wanted to be someone Aria could confide in about any problem, and she would try her best to solve it, even if it was out of her reach.
So Juliet really felt uncomfortable seeing Aria keeping worries bottled up inside.
