Chapter 48 - Old Wounds (2)

By the time they were done with the burial, the woman had walked to the grave, still sobbing heavily. Filled with grief, she threw herself on the heaped soil, crying out in pain.

Akito looked away, as seeing the woman this way was sickening—not because he felt any compassion for the old woman, but because he felt it was all an act to make him feel sorry for her.

He packed the tools he had brought with him and headed out, expecting all of them to follow him, only for him to get several feet ahead of them with nobody behind him.

The woman's mourning was very vocal, and no matter their presumptions on her character, they felt the pain from her wails and could not bring themselves to move while hearing them.

Then he looked back to see Jin, Mia, and Ken still standing there as if they were frozen.

"What are you guys doing?" "Let's go!" he said, to no response.
