Jay's POV:
I noticed a car tailing me, and suspicion instantly crept in. My mind went blank for a second, unsure of my next move, but instinctively, I made a sharp turn into the first mall I saw. I figured wasting time inside might make them lose interest. I roamed aimlessly through random aisles for about fifteen minutes before convincing myself it was safe to leave.
Stepping outside, I scanned the street no car in sight. Relief washed over me, but it was short-lived. Minutes later, the familiar sound of tires slowly rolling behind me caught my attention. I pretended to adjust my backpack and turned slightly, confirming my worst fear it was the same car.
Panic was rising, but I knew better than to lead them anywhere near my apartment. My father had found me. There was no way I'd let him know where I lived. Only one safe place crossed my mind Jacob's. I quickened my pace, heart racing, praying he'd be home.
Thankfully, Jacob understood immediately. Without hesitation, he offered me a place to stay for the night. I couldn't refuse the fear of being caught was eating me alive. He didn't even flinch, just assured me I'd be safe. Lately, he's been my anchor, and honestly, I owe him more than I can ever repay.
Aidan's POV:
It was past 11 p.m., and Jay wasn't home. My gut twisted in worry. He usually never stays out this late, especially after training. My phone rang, jolting me it was him. I answered fast, almost yelling, "Where the hell are you?!"
His calm voice irritated me more, "Relax. I'm at Jacob's. My idiot father sent someone after me. I noticed the tail, so I didn't want to come home and risk it. I'll be back tomorrow."
I was stunned silent. Of course, his father had to be worse than my psychotic sister. "Alright… just be careful, okay? And don't forget, you're telling me everything tomorrow."
He promised, and we hung up. I lay back, staring at the ceiling, wondering what mess life is throwing at us now. First Diana… now this. And this Jacob I've heard his name way too much lately. I don't know how I feel about him yet. Jay isn't someone who trusts easily, so what's so special about this guy?
Whatever now's not the time to obsess over Jacob. We need to fix this situation. Maybe Jay should just confront his father or is that suicide? Knowing that man, it might be. Guess sleep is the only thing I can do now.
Jacob's POV:
It's 7 a.m., and I have work. I don't want to wake Jay he's been through enough. I left him a note, told him where the food was, and reminded him to lock up and take the spare key.
On my way out, something felt off. A black car, sleek and unfamiliar, was parked nearby. Two men sat inside, looking way too serious. My instincts screamed at me this wasn't normal.
I didn't think twice — I called the cops and reported the car. They said they'd check it out. Still uneasy, I called Jay.
"Jay… is the car that followed you black? Two guys inside?"
His silence confirmed it.
"It's here. Same car. Same guys. I called the police, but listen… if they're still here after all night, they're not leaving without you."
I heard the panic in his voice. No one deserves this especially not Jay.
Jay's POV:
Jacob's words kept echoing in my head. This is it I can't run anymore. If they want me, they'll get me. But not like some scared kid. I won't give them that satisfaction.
I dressed up, grabbed my bag, locked the door, and walked straight toward the car. Their shocked faces almost made me laugh. They didn't expect me to approach.
I stood by the driver's window, knocking lightly. "Can I help you guys? Been tailing me since yesterday it's boring now. What do you want?"
Silence. Two full minutes of them staring before the driver cleared his throat. "Your father wants to see you. We're here to take you to him."
That's it? That's what this creepy stakeout was about?
"You couldn't just ask?" I scoffed, half laughing at the absurdity.
"We thought you'd say no."
"No shit, I would've. But you still could've asked."
This is insane this is my life.
