A feeling of energy surged inside my head. For a moment, I could feel the blood rushing through my veins, which felt like they were being penetrated by something invisible.
Where was I, again?
I must have died.
What am I feeling? As if my body is screaming me to move. But I don't feel my legs, my arms, I can't even move my fingers and my head.
Everything was in complete darkness. That's weird, there's no such thing as reincarnation or doomsday, right?
"Ah, so this is happening" Is what came onto my mind, I was full of happiness and relief.
I'm not breathing visibly, yet there was no feeling of suffocation.
I opened my eyes until I could see a strong white light towards my eyes. This light was unbearable, at the same moment I closed my eyes. I was angry, why would they put light in the face of someone who is sleeping? It must be someone very unhappy.
Maybe it was because of anger, I tried to turn away to the light stop shining in my eyes. Surprisingly, I managed, all the numb feeling I had suddenly disappeared, along with that, I felt an cool air enter my nose with a deep breath.
That weird feeling in my arm is visible now, there was an IV injecting something in me.
started to feel a tingling in my left chest. With an urge to scratch, I ripped off the electrode that had been glued to my chest.
By the time I pulled out, in addition to the tingling sensation gone, I got a shock. I came to the conclusion that shock caused me to remember something: Why am I here?
----------------------------------------------------
"Kade, your parents told me to wake you up." She said as she turned on the light.
The woman who just walked into my room is named Mery. She is something like a servant. My parents pay her to clean the house twice a week, which is really big. Besides, she also takes care of me and my meals, even though I know how to cook and how to take care of myself.
A few years ago my family won 30 million in the lottery. To be more specific I won but they didn't tell me this so I pretended I didn't know even though I looked at the results on the internet.
My dad decided to split ⅔ of the money to him and my uncle, while ⅓ went to my mom. My uncle tried to open a restaurant and invested in it, but unfortunately his associate stole everything he had invested and ran away, I don't know what happened to him next, nor his partner.
My mother is traveling most of the year, even with 10 million, she spends a lot. A poor man once said "Whoever has a lot of money spends a lot, whoever has little money spends little.". In fact, this is true. She almost never takes me with her on trips, as my family stays home for New Year's Eve. Even so she calls me every Sunday to see if I'm ok, I don't know if she really cares or if it's just to pretend doing the mother role.
As for my father, he invested the money in the company he had, apparently it worked, now he is always working and I know almost nothing about him, as only sometimes we exchange "Hi-Hi Bye-Bye" only and I never really know where it is at.
As for me, I'm just a normal young boy coming from an upper-middle class family. If I had to point out some unique characteristic of mine, I'd say I don't like people, nor my parents, they make me go to events where the whole family goes, some faces I remember from when I was younger, but I still don't care about none of them.
Right now, Mery is trying to wake me up, as I turn over in bed and pull my pillow over my head.
"Okay, okay. I'll get up."
She left my room.
"The day has come, huh. Fufufu."
Last year, when I was still in the eighth grade, I talked to my parents at the end of the year. When I turned 15, or to be more specific, went to high school, they would send me to another city, to study at a full-time high school. I've always wanted to study at a full-time high school, probably because it's easier to learn that way, or at least that's what I think. No one has told me where I'm going yet, as to convince them I used the argument of gaining experience living alone. They promised they would send me some money each month.
I got up from my bed and went to the bathroom. After wiping the water off my knee I brushed my teeth, obviously I washed my hand first. I don't have the habit of showering in the morning, but I think I'll try to start doing that when I get in school.
I went back to my room and changed into the set of clothes I'd already laid out the night before when I packed my suitcase almost at the last minute. I probably already have everything packed, clothes, cell phone, some books and toys, what else could I be missing?
After spending 5 minutes thinking, I spent another 10 minutes rummaging through the house for what else I could take.
"Oh yes, that. This is important, this is dangerous, I can't put it in my suitcase." I picked up a wooden hinged box, which had the outside painted in black.
"Kade! Get here fast, we re going to leave," Mery called me, screaming from outside the house.
"Ok I'm going! Wait 1 minute, I'm getting the bags." Just like I said, I took a medium size suitcase, inside it were my clothes and among other things related to hygiene.
Hanging from one arm as I walked down the stairs, was my backpack with some personal belongings such as books, a phone, laptop etc.
By the way, I put the black box inside my backpack.
----------------------------------------------------
Already inside her car, an old Fiat Uno, we was traveling almost 3 hours straight. As I said before, I packed my suitcase almost at the last minute, but being more specific, because of the anxiety, I got distracted and forgot to pack before, so at 2 am, unable to sleep, I suddenly remembered and organized my things. Because of that I ended up waking up very late, on the trip time to be exact, so I had to skip lunch.
"Can I have a bottle of water please?" I asked the driver, Mery.
She, I, and everyone knew that our house is in a remote town and surrounded by a huge desert, yet it has the reputation of being a rich city.
Knowing that during the day in the arid climate and the vegetation of the Caatinga it is extremely hot, she prepared herself with a thermal bag filled with water bottles, a very big one.
"Here, take it." She didn't park the car, as the narrow road was empty, there was no such need.
She put her right arm behind her while her right hand was on the steering wheel.
The suitcase I was carrying was in the trunk, while the backpack was in the backseat with me.
After drinking non-stop the 1.5L bottle untill it was empity, I opened my backpack and placed the black box on the side, and zipped up the backpack.
"What is it?" Mery looked in the rearview mirror and saw that I pulled something a little suspicious out of my backpack, but she probably just asked out of curiosity.
"Oh, this box? It's just some cookies I set aside to snack on, on the trip." I said in a half-hearted tone, maybe that way I can kill her curiosity, or maybe more than that.
"I didn't bring anything to eat on the way, what cookies are there?"
Damn, she continued the subject, this complicates my situation, I don't know what excuse to use now.
Not gonna lie, I'm a little bit nervous. After all, I didn't plan anything before leaving.
"Hmm, I don't know. I got it from my dad's bookshelf, it's probably the sugar-free diet ones."
"Then never mind." Her face was turned forward, but I can imagine her putting on a disappointed face.
Sigh, Now I can get started with my plan.
Opening the black box, there was a plastic bag marked "sodium hypochlorite", and 500 ml beaker with a paper written "ethyl alcohol", among others chemical materials that I had for study purposes.
With the water bottle already empty, I carefully and discreetly poured the alcohol into the bottle from the beaker. In the next step, I remembered something, I didn't bring a funnel.
Realizing my mistake I started looking for something that could replace a funnel. An idea popped into my head, but immediately I thought better not. An idea came to my head, a straw! Where can I find a straw in the car? I probably can't.
Will I really have to do this? I don't think I have any other choice.
I took my cell phone from the bank and took off the case.
This will probably slow me down later, what if the cell phone explodes?
It's a shame I don't have any other options now.
I placed the case on top of the bottle, with the camera hole in the neck of it. After balancing the bottle and case between my legs, I took the chlorine bag and opened it, then dumped it into the cape, where the camera hole is.
There was a lot of dust in the bag, it took me almost 10 minutes to get everything in there, but now it was the easy part, but the most fun.
I closed the bottle with the cap and started shaking the bottle.
"What are you doing? Can you stop? It's bothering me." I listened to what she said, but I ignored it, didn't even look at the front seat, but continued to mix what was inside the bottle.
"Hey, can you stop?" She asked again, getting no answer.
"..." She didn't stop the car, but tilted her head a little to the left and looked at me sideways, seeing me shaking the bottle.
She doesn't know, I think.
