25 December 1991.

Potter Manor.

Harry pov:

Harry sat on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate while little Lily is sleeping in his lap, his little sister fell asleep leaning against him while sitting in his lap. Lily had a big day today and all the fun and excitement tuckered her out.

While enjoying his drink Harry is watching his parents decorate the giant Christmas tree next to the fireplace. Mom and Dad both have their wands out as all kinds of decorations slowly floated out and placed themselves on the tree. Both of them are giggling and lovingly bickered with each other as they moved around the giant tree.

With House Potter being so old and our long history, we don't really celebrate Christmas or other muggle holidays as we have our own traditions and practices that have been passed down for generations. But with Mom being raised as a muggle, his parents decorate a tree on the evening of the 25th every year and exchange gifts.

This tree in front of him might look like a Christmas tree but it is not, his father always picks up some useless mundane things every year and transfigures those things into a tree and Christmas decorations. While Harry's mother temporarily enchants these transfigured objects to produce all kinds of effects.

Like the fact that even inside the manor there is light snow drizzling on and around the tree, some of the decorations are sparkling like stars while others are glowing with all kinds of colours, there are even magical creatures made of golden mist running around the tree.

Harry felt warm and comfortable watching his parents being happy and just enjoying their life with their family. This alone makes all of the sacrifices he made to come back worth it.

While Harry was watching his parents his sister Rose came and sat beside him, she leaned against him putting her head on his shoulder. Rose and Harry just sat on the couch in comfort just watching their parents decorate the tree in silence.

After a while, his parents stood leaning against each other in front of the fully decorated tree. They admired their work with loving smiles on their faces but the next moment to Harry's horror his parents started kissing each other.

Harry quickly turned his head to look anywhere but his parents while his sister Rose yelled "Gross! Do that in your room, your young impressionable children are sitting right here."

Thank Merlin that his parents stopped but they both have huge smiles on their faces like they somehow found their children's horror to be adorable.

Rose's yelling woke little Lily sleeping in his lap, but his little sister just opened her eyes and stayed nestled in between his arms.

Their father chuckled "Don't worry Harry, in just a few years you and your brother would also be kissing girls. You two will show the school's broom closet to plenty of girls just like your father." His father would have gone on but mom stopped him by pulling his ear.

"Never listen to your father. School is a place to learn, and you shouldn't disrespect such a sacred place by messing around. I know my children are smart so they will listen to their mother and go to school to learn and just have a little fun with their friends and nothing else, right?" Mom spoke in her sweet voice but Harry could see the sharpness in her eyes. This is a warning and not just a simple advice.

Harry nodded but Rose spoke up "But you guys dated during school and even got married right after graduating."

His sister Rose might be smart but she clearly needs to work on her social skills and spending all of her time with Hermione is also not helping with this problem.

Before mom could respond the six-year-old in Harry's lap reached for the mug in his hand but it was already empty. Seeing this mom picked up little Lily.

"My baby wants her hot chocolate, don't worry mama will get you a mug right away." Mom told the toddler in arms.

"Lily also wants marshmallows with chocolate."

"Yes, mama will put lots of marshmallows in your mug." With that mom walked away while carrying the toddler. Their father also followed behind them while rubbing his ear.

Rose from the couch looked at their leaving parents in confusion for a few moments before once again leaning against Harry.

"Harry, Hermione was asking me about what to get you as a Christmas present." Rose suddenly said.

"So what did you tell her?"

"I told her the truth that you don't like getting gifts"

"I like gifts, I just don't like receiving random crap from people who don't know anything about me." Harry corrected her.

"Whatever it means the same thing. I think Hermione has a little crush on you ever since the troll incident."

"So?" Harry replied.

Rose slapped him in his arm "I just told you that my friend likes you and all you have to say is so."

"Hermione doesn't like me. Right now she is just feeling grateful because I saved her life. You are just confusing her feelings of gratitude for affection." Harry clarified for his sister.

Rose stayed silent for a moment before saying "maybe."

"Harry remember last christmas when Charlie, me and you all fell asleep snuggling next to the fireplace. I still recall waking up and seeing Charlie's drooling face on your chest. Then in his sleep, he wiped the drool on your clothes. I still laugh every time I think about that." Rose said while laughing.

Harry smiled "I didn't fall asleep that night. I chose to sleep there because I didn't want to wake you both sleeping on top of me. It reminded me of those times when you guys used to sneak into my room because you were still not used to sleeping alone in your own room."
