The guards of the Wave

Elijah spoke for herself while observing the shape of the lights attached to the four corners. Interesting shape, like a firefly. They are not artificial lights like in the human world.

Out of curiosity, Elijah idly approached a lamp. When it was close, she could see its true form. It's similar to fireflies, only they're bigger. Elijah used her palm to touch it. How surprised she was when it flickered and her head turned to her. The shape of the object then moved backward, both eyes pointing at Elijah.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to bother. I ... I ... don't know... I'm just curious," Elijah walked backward, confused, and crossed her mind that it is possible to swallow her alive. Her heart was beating fast and loud like a hammer banging against a wall. Cold sweat was already pouring out and her legs were limp. She's sitting down. At that moment, someone appeared and stood strangely staring at Elijah.

"Azalea! help! Looks like it could eat me!"

Azalea saw a creature familiar to her standing upside down against a wall.

"Ornic! back at work!" Azalea's orders.

Ornic followed Azaila's orders instantly. After that, Azalea ran up to Elijah.

"It won't eat anyone, are you okay?"

"Ornic?"

Elijah was astonished. She returned to her feet which were still slightly trembling with Azailea's help.

"Yes. In the human world, it may include fireflies, glowing insects."

"It's very similar!"

As she said this, Elijah looked at Ornic again. She was worried in case the Ornic moved and approached her suddenly.

"No need to worry, Ornic might be surprised. Are you trying to touch it?"

Elijah disturbed her stiff and regretful.

"Ornics don't like to be touched," Azalea said. Her gentleness made Elijah calm. Elijah's fear disappeared when she saw the other Ornic quite calm in its place.

"Are they all named Ornics?"

"Yap. Just like fireflies, humans call fireflies."

Elijah was stunned and felt it was inappropriate. But at the time, she couldn't propose anything. Never mind giving a name, all her senses are busy accepting the new fact. It was fitting to light itself, no one turned on the switch, Elijah's mind was still in shock.

"They're very intelligent," Elijah praised clumsily.

"They know their job. So they move automatically without being ruled."

Elijah nodded. Then she thought, lest some of the statues and paintings she saw were also living things. Maybe they're just reluctant to move.

"Is there anything I can do for you now?" Azalea was polite.

"Ah, no, I'm just still surprised. I didn't think this place had no electricity."

Azalea smiled understandably.

"Please, sit down, I'll be with you and have a chat with you."

"Thank you."

They sat down on the sofa. Still surprised, Elijah tried to reduce her new tension by taking a snack and eating it casually. She also offered Azailea her favorite snack, but she refused.

"So, you've met another Azalea?"

"Aren't you Azalea?"

"Try to pay attention to the appearance of the Azalea you met with me."

Elijah then noticed the details requested. "The Azalea who was wearing maid clothes before, while you... like a bodyguard."

Azela also smiled. "That's right. I am the guardian of every space. I patrol every time. Azalea Maid with Azalea the Guardian of space is different. The Azalea Maid's attitude was calm and polite. As for me... you can see for yourself..."

"Could it be that he is your twin? you twins?!"

Azalea clung to her shoulders. "Let's just say so."

"Oh, great!"

Elijah laughed. Azalea's attitude which was still polite but trying to be casual was interesting to her heart. She then thrust the snack in front of Azalea. They then enjoyed the snack together. From then on, Elijah also asked Azalea to use my expression only instead of mine.

"By the way what does Theria do in the kitchen? Is he watching people cook and giving orders?"

Azalea was quite surprised by the expression.

"Ah, no, he's the one cooking, the others are just helping him prepare the ingredients. I should have helped him too, but he told me to accompany you here."

Elijah was surprised again. All day I don't know how many times I was surprised by everything that happened in the Melianor Mansion.

"You seem to have a lot of respect for him."

"Ah, he is much older than me, senior here, a teacher, and also he is Melianor's trusted right-hand man."

Elijah tried to understand the hierarchy. Although she felt bad for the conservative side, she decided to accept it. This is probably the best and most comfortable move for everyone until later.

"Oh, that's it. So Theria also cooks?"

Azalea nodded.

"The food you ate last night was also prepared by Mr. Theria himself."

Elijah then remembered the food she ate with Theria. It's his cooking. It's fitting that he didn't want to eat it at first and also seemed very happy when I said the cuisine was good. Why isn't he honest if it's his cooking?

"Mr. Theria is a deft and conscientious person. Not only did he make food for Melianor, but he was also the one trusted to organize the whole house."

Elijah's eyes were wide-eyed.

"That means the whole order of this house, including the arrangement of the lights, is done by Mr. Theria himself?"

Azalea nodded, "That's right, Mr. Theria did it all."

Elijah was flabbergasted. Her eyes went around the entire room. The composition in the room was very slick, and comfortable, for her, there were no minuses. His taste is incredible, said Elijah in her mind.

Azalea's smile gave the impression of warmth and sweetness. Elijah was impressed with the smile she saw for the first time. Elijah begins to suspect Azalea likes Mr. Theria more than she can imagine.

"From then until now my family has always been servants to Mr. Theria's family, his ancestors led a large clan with Melianor's ancestors. The good, cheerful, and full of life between us happened before a major event. After that incident, we have lost so much that we decided to stay together for a common purpose."

"You mean between Mr. Theria and Melianor?"

Azalea nodded.

"To protect each other, they live together. Mr. Theria took me. If not, I don't know what to do either."

"Then is there anyone else working here?"

Azalea nodded. In her heart, she boasted of her comrades. Without being revealed it is seen from the way she tells about them.

"Some of them have worked with Melianor since the beginning, and some are those who worked with Mr. Theria's family."

"Should there be a lot of people here?"

Azalea calmly explained, "There are many, but they remain in the shadows until Melianor or Theria orders them to come out. But I hope that doesn't happen."

"Why is that like that?"

"During times of peace like this, we don't have to do anything. Mr. Theria was one of the guards of the Wave. His bodyguards and everyone he worked with were connected to him. If Mr. Theria wants a calm the Wave, of course, our job is simply to align ourselves to keep the Wave stable."

Elijah felt her brain capacity was unable to understand Azalea's explanation. Azalea, who thought Elijah could follow her story, continued, "Most of us remain in the shadows. I hope we don't have to do anything. I don't want another big event."

"It seems like that big event has had a huge impact on your lives."

Azalea's gaze looked back in time. Elijah could feel longing and feelings of regret at the same time from Azalea's attitude.

"What can we do, we used to go too far."

"What do you mean?"

"There was a group of scientists in the past who went too far. They create a wide variety of mixed creatures. The clan elders had tried to stop them, but the cessation effort resulted in a leadership revolution. Bad things kept happening, mixed creature experiments continued, and clan leaders and followers couldn't stem it all. Then... Ms. Melianor's ancestors predicted a massive impending disaster as punishment for our generation who had gone too far against the laws of nature. Some even think of themselves as the Creator."

Elijah felt something bad happening to them like it happened just yesterday afternoon.

"... and it was through trust in Ms. Melianor's ancestors that we survived, but after that, we made a pact not to interfere in the lives of the next generation."

"What does that mean?"

"The next generation in question is the generation of ignorant human children, slowly we are getting out of the way, making barriers so that they never again access the experimental sciences that will destroy this world again."

"Do you mean you deliberately kept a dark secret with yourself?"

Azalea nodded.

"We've always worried that the dark secret would be bad if it were discovered by the next generation that human curiosity could be a great motivation to get them beyond themselves.

"Curiosity can create destructive waves and at the same time can create waves that beautify the world. The thing is, the ambitious side of any creature can also create monsters. We're worried about the birth of that dark side. Ah, I'm not good at talking about this, maybe you can ask Ms. Melianor or Mr. Theria by yourself."

Azalea ended her story with a face of shame.

"Although I don't understand everything... I think I can understand how you feel because I understand some of your stories, essentially I grasp the impression that you will be faithful forever to Mr. Theria."

Azalea smiled. "Thank you."
