Road to Manchegorsk No. 015

This would be an important first hour of my trip, as it would be a test to decide if my adjustments would hold out or if I would have just a broken bike.

Two hours in and I hadn't broken the bike yet so I can say it was a sucess. It was getting later than I thought it would and decided to go over to the side of the road and set up a camp. There was a small grove where I set up the tent in only a few minutes. I grabbed some nearby loose sticks and made some support for it and covered the canopy with leafy sticks, luckily my tent was a dark grey, perfect for snow and dark nights.

After an hour, I had finished setting up my shelter, I brought my bike over and laid it down and brought the cart to the left of the shelter I had a feeling it would be cold, so I grabbed the shovel and made a pile of dirt that covered the unprotected opening of my tent. It would be a cold night so anything that was soft and could retain heat I brought into the tent. It was at least December, so if it was snowing in the morning it wouldn't surprise me.

***

It was nighttime when I was woken up, I say woken up because I felt something was off. I laid there for 15 min, warm, but not hot, listening. Another 15 minutes passed, and I heard it, the howls. The howls were loud, loud enough for me to realize if I moved, I would be found out, and torn to shreds by the wolves who knew something was up.

It became a waiting game.

Them outside, me inside, them in the single digit temperatures and me in my tent.

If I hadn't of camouflaged the canopy and covered the entrances, I would have been killed in my sleep, and that isn't a fun thought to think while you are waiting to see if you will be killed while you are awake.

I had enough rags and extra clothing on that I had a few inches of extra protection.

I waited and waited it was already past sunrise by the time I had even moved from my spot. I slowly rotated my head to look up and check the outside from under my cart.

There weren't any wolves or cats outside from my view, I pulled my Makarov out and made sure the safety was off.

As I started to crawl out I took a look around my base and saw it. A mauled carcass of a wild boar.

This was my first time seeing anything this big, even the mutated Lynx wouldn't be a fight based off of the size of this beast.

I immediately packed up my tent and scrambled off to try and get some distance, because if a group of wolves had killed that, I would just be mincemeat.

I had around two, two and a half hours left between me and Manchegorsk that I would need to travel and if I ran into any wolves or boars, I wouldn't know what to expect.

An hour into the trip, I slowed down, I saw a car jam up ahead, effectively it was a road block that I would have to clear.

There were a bunch of cars I would say around a few dozen or so.

I slowly walked around the cars and saw that they had all been burned out in the fiery accident that must have happened, I finished the search and ran around back to my stuff and continued on. I would be having to continue on to try and get there before midday.

One hour later I slowly started to see some signs of a city, I could see buildings and pulled my bike over to the side of the road, covering it with some branches, I left ot go see what city this was even though I knew which one it would be.

After 10 minutes I walked into the city, the signs had been destroyed, but there was the second best thing, a four story building that seemed to be designed as a municipal building.

As I entered I looked around checking to make sure I wouldn't get attacked, as I have had a handful of encounters so far.

As I went behind the desk I found what I was looking for,

Manchegorsk Municpal Order No. 168

I was in the right city.
