"A God"
"..."
The boy tidies himself up and stands up right. He bows in a 90 degree angle and says,
"Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you sir. Thank you for all of your hard work in creating our world and making it and giving it life."
"Uhh, yeah, sure. You're welcome. Now can you please stand up right? It's making me feel a bit uncomfortable."
"Uhh, sure sure. By the way, can you read my mind?"
"Uh, no. I'm not that omniscient. So basically, the reason I put you here is because-"
"You just said that you were 'A God'. Does that mean that there are multiple gods?"
"Yes, there are multiple gods. So back to what I was saying, I put you here because-"
"If there are multiple gods, then do the names correspond with the Greek, Egyptian or Norse gods?"
"The names correspond to all three of the pantheons. OK, now… I put you here because-"
"But like, how does that work? What if there was already Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths in Greek mythology, but then there's also Ptah, which is the god of creators and maker of things in Norse mythology. Would one of them just disappear or would they just combine into one?"
"The different gods of each of the mythologies have different names but the same task assigned to them. So they would only have those combined names but with only one being. Sort of like how if you have Zeus in Greek and Thor in Norse, you would have a god of thunder that can be called both Zeus or Thor. Now can I please speak without you cutting me off?"
"Oh uh, yeah sure, sorry"
"So basically, I put you here because-"
"But wait, if there are multiple gods, then what god are you?"
"I'm the god of rude children apparently because I am assigned to YOU"
"Oh, uh, ok. I'll be quiet."
"Finally, thank you. All right so I put you here because I need you and your other classmates to save another world. This world is in the midst of a war between multiple races, though only grouped in two, the unbalanced and the balanced. Though that is what we gods call them, the beings that live in that world call the unbalanced, demi-humans and the balanced, humans. You can sort of think of it as a world war in which most of the world is participating in this war and that it has been going on for more than a century. The races who are participating in this war include the Humans, Elves, Beastmen, Dwarves, Giants, and Mermen. The humans are the opposition of the other races. Basically saying that the humans are fighting the other races in this war. The Elves are very agile and close to nature, which means that they thrive in a forest-based environment, although due to this, they weren't able to get good technological advancements and are stuck to the basic types of weaponry. The Dwarves are very skilled in creating, but due to the short height, they do very poorly in combat situations. The Beastmen are also very agile, whilst very good in quick attacks, their sharp claws helps them in injuring their enemies, although due to their close relation to animals, their behaviour can be very predictable, which is a huge disadvantage in a war type battle. The Giants have great power and destructive ability, their defensive capabilities are also really high, although due to their very large height, they aren't very agile which makes them a really huge and easy targets. The Mermen are very fast and agile in a sea/water based environment, although this would mean that they aren't able to go on land which restricts their access to various types of areas. Humans are very balanced creatures. Their capabilities can expand to other areas, they're basically a jack of all race, in which they are able to learn every type of technique but aren't able to completely master them. This gives them a huge disadvantage due to the fact that they aren't able to use the more advanced and more powerful techniques that have been used and created by the other races, although due to their large and ever increasing birth rate, they are able to overcome this and get a huge advantage in the war, which are overwhelming numbers. Now, why am I telling you this, you ask. It's because you can choose which race you want to become. Would you like to stay as a human or would you change your race into one of the demi-humans? But you aren't able to know what your other classmates picked until the end of the choosing. Everybody else was given the same choice and the same explanation. Now before you pick, are there any other questions?"
The boys face, shocked in amazement, screams,
"THERE ARE DEMI HUMANS?"
"Yes"
"AND THEY'RE AT WAR?"
"Yes"
"AND I CAN CHOOSE WHICH RACE I WANT TO BE?"
"Yes"
"Ok…Are there dragons and other mythical creatures?"
"Yes"
"THERE ARE DRAGONS?"
"Yes, you literally just asked that"
"AND THERE ARE GRYPHONS TOO?"
"What are those?"
"They have the body of a lion and wings and head of an eagle."
"We call them Griffons but yeah"
"AND PHOENIXES?"
"Yes, though only 5 left in the entire world"
"Wait what, why?"
"They refuse to reproduce, thus the lacking population of them. Though they do live to about 500,000 years, about double the lifespan of a dragons"
"Wooooaah, can I pick one of those creatures to be instead?"
"Yeah you can, though that would mean that you lose all consciousness and memory of your last world because they don't have the society that exists that all the other races do. You basically get reborn as a young offspring of that creature and your friends wouldn't even be able recognise you because you don't have the common face. So, you can if you want, that would just mean you die and get reborn with no memories unlike being summoned."
"Oh yeah, no. That's bad…Umm, can I be together with my friends?"
"Only if you all pick the same race."
"Oh, ok then. Ummm, which side is the correct side? Like which one is in the right?"
"....There is no correct side in a war. There is only the victor and the loser. The victor will write the history that makes them seem like the good guys whilst the loser is framed as the bad side. There are always bad things on each side. Murder of innocents can happen that isn't an official move made by that race. For example, bandit elves, beastmen or dwarves can appear and kill innocent humans which would make the demi-humans, the evil side. But there can also be instances in which human bandits kidnap elves and beastmen to sell as slaves and that would make the humans the bad side. But there are also good people on each side. So there are no definite evil and good sides in a war, there can only be a victor and a loser and there's no two ways about it."
"Umm ok, ok. Hmmm, I'm having trouble picking again. Uuuh. Ooooh. Should I pick-? No, that's a bad idea. Or maybeee? Eeeh noo. Hmm. How bout this one? But what if regret it later? Uuuh, this is so hard. You know what, I'll chooooooose thiiiiiiiiiiis. Wait no, this. But what if they don't pick the same one? What would the others pick? Uhh, maybe this ones really good. Or this one, but this one's good as well. Uuuh, mmmmh…"
As the boy mulls over his choice, the god sits on a cube he made and rests his head on his fist. And somehow with a face looking as if he's regretted his life decisions, despite not having a face, waits for 2 hours.
...
"Ok, I've decided on which race I'm going to pick."
And with a deadpan voice,
"Oh yaaaay, that's great. Now pick."
"Ok, I'm going to piiiick…"
