Merlin The Wanted Mage

"I had thought the King would be kind enough to accept Mordred as the rightful heir since they looked alike and had great skills in combat, but the King rejected his son. So Mordred declared war, and I helped fuel everything by giving her Clarent, a sword specifically made to destroy the King."

"After both had died, I met Merlin one last time, who was angry at me for destroying what he had strived so hard to do for the prosperity of Camelot. We fought amongst the fallen soldiers and ended with a tie since Merlin had escaped after I wounded him with Heaven's Wheel."

I couldn't believe what I heard from Mavislin's confession... So, she was there when King Arthur was alive?! Of course, it shouldn't come as a surprise, but it didn't seem like her to suddenly interfere with others' affairs. She didn't strike me as those kinds of people.

"By the time Camelot fell, Merlin was a wanted Mage by the Congregation for performing a spell forbidden by the Council. You knew it well, yet you didn't stop or kill him. Why?" asked Baldwin, looking as shocked as me.

"It was simple. I didn't know about the existence of the Congregation and had never heard of such things until I met Abi, who told me her father was in such a group. But, of course, I wasn't reporting on the whereabouts of the Congregation to Merlin either."

"Merlin is counted as a Mage of Dreams, having to absorb people's dreams while they are asleep as sustenance. His powers of the Dream Element are a direct descendant of the Illusion Element and Life Element. Because Merlin was such a terrible guy with Magecraft and chants..."

"He said using a sword disguised as a staff would be better for combat. And he claimed that his main skill would be 'Escape.' But one more thing about this Mage was his sub-Element, the Element of Clairvoyance. So he could predict where the Congregation would deploy their personnel."

"Thus, evading the Mages from the Congregation. Merlin became famous for telling prophecies and spending his free time in the Red Light District of Albion. And I had nothing to do with it. I was there in my volition to understand why Merlin was pushing so hard for Artoria to become King."

"Another problem was that Artoria was no longer human and had something to do with the weapon she wielded, Excalibur and Avalon. But after the battle of Camlann, the weapon was forever gone since Sir Bedivere took it to return to the Lady Of the Lake."

"Notice. The skill 'Escape' is an ability that allows the Mage to pull themselves out of any dangerous situation. Upon use, the Mage would be transported to the nearest safe place in the area. You have it in your list," explained Vania.

Ah great! Where was that when I nearly became pieces by the Flower Mage?!

Mavislin's explanation made my head spin as it gave more questions than answers. But for Baldwin, he seemed to stand down and stopped having an angry expression. Baldwin then placed his hand on Mavislin's head and ruffled her hair.

"Sorry about accusing you earlier... I had thought you were the one who sabotaged our task to find Merlin. The guy was a creep who kept creating artificial dolls to stuff human souls into but failed. As a result, the Mages gained a bad reputation from the mess he created."

"Thus, our ultimate goal was to destroy him, but we were always one step behind. So, to make it up, I'm going to cook you dessert tonight, alright? And breakfast tomorrow," promised Baldwin.

I guess I was wrong about the Angry Man being some criminal that doesn't know how to use a door. Z also sighed out of relief that his room didn't turn into a warzone. But the two men were overwhelmed with Mavislin's stories about being on the planet longer than most.

Mavislin instantly sighed and changed into her child form before jumping into Baldwin's arms. After that sudden change of topic, I was still curious about how the Black Knight came to be, and Z seemed to understand my curiosity.

"Mavislin, do you know anything about the Black Knight and her rampage? Baldwin drew a connection between you and the Black Knight being together since you willfully ignored the matter. What's that about?" asked Z.

Mavislin blinked several times before asking Baldwin to go closer to the Galaxian Mage.

"The Black Knight has been killing young men who had been caught sexually assaulting the Flower Girls of the Red Light District. I didn't bother about it since she was doing me a favor. If I meet her, I would rather ask her to join me like an underling for all her trouble."
