Downfall Of Mordred

The Knight of Rebellion nearly had enough with the Valkyrie's words and shouted to the skies, cursing at Bryan for forcing her to see this rendition of Mavislin, acting so innocent to the kids.

"Damn it! You are a coward for trying to show me these memories, Slayer Verna... Who the hell do you think I am?! If you want to incur my wrath, then you better show your face now because I'm not having any more of this!" shouted Mordred at the top of her lungs.

"Because I know my best friend... And she wasn't a bad person, and I loved the times spent with her... So, I wouldn't trade anyone else with the memories I made with her," answered Mavislin as the Knight of Rebellion was about to raise her sword.

Mordred halted when she heard the Valkyrie blurt those last words of regret and sadness. But what got her to put down the sword was a single tear rolling off from Mavislin's cheek.

"Did I mean so much to the Valkyrie? Did I make such a huge impact on her life that it warranted a tear? Even my father never shed tears for me when I got badly injured... And this person I thought had abandoned me is feeling sorrow for me?" questioned Mordred as she lowered her blade.

"I truly regretted leaving Mordred all alone to fight the King... Had I known it would lead to her death, I wouldn't have left. But if I did, the world would have burned down..."

"Huh? I only managed to make Camelot burn, not the entire continent... What is she talking about?" asked a very confused Knight.

After so long, Bryan finally made himself known to Mordred as he answered her thoughts, shocking the dear life out of her.

"During the King's end, the Mages of the Congregation were at war with another entity. After the death of Vortigern, a Familiar of the Corrupted One triggered a mass event called the Wave of Husks. This one was the second to occur throughout the Earth's History."

"The Wave from Vortigern was called Amber Rush as the Husks took in victims from the Fire Elemental Sectors of the Congregation. The result was the world nearly burning down if Mavislin hadn't embarked on a pilgrimage of the world to rid the Husks."

"In other words, Mavislin went to several global points to launch an all-powerful spell that saved Earth from losing to the Husks. But of course, with such a glorious victory comes with a terrifying setback..." explained to the Slayer as his voice rang throughout Mordred's ears.

"And what's was the setback?" asked Mordred.

"Mavislin had to give up her wing to make the spell work because she was using the most powerful spell within Heaven's Wheel Stages, Ground Zero: Sacred Onslaught. It is a spell meant to be done with several others, so by doing it alone, Mavislin was already pushing the boundaries."

"I thought the Valkyries could grow back their lost limbs? That doesn't sound too much of an issue because I've seen Mavislin lose all of her limbs and walk it off the next Tick like another Tuesday morning," asked the Knight of Rebellion.

"Her wings are a different matter. If Mavislin loses a wing, she loses half her Elemental Core, similar to losing half a heart. So I'd say that's something you can't walk off like another day. Anyways, hear her words of regret before you go wreaking havoc... "

"Because that's your downfall."

With the last sentence beckoning Mordred's temper to flare up, Bryan's voice was gone, leaving the Knight to watch Mavislin and the kids again. The children huddled close to the Valkyrie, asking more about Mordred's achievements.

From slaying enemies to stopping the waters from being invaded, Mavislin poured her heart and soul into her words to make sure Mordred sounded like a hero. Yet, despite all these, the Knight Of Rebellion was still angry, especially when the final question came up.

"Then why did you leave?" asked the children.

"I left because the Mages were suffering a war as well. Someone bad from the other worlds had landed, and I was tasked to help them. And after saving what I could, I came home to see that everything was gone. Camelot had crumbled, and my friend was no more..."

"Because of me, my friend died. And I'm not sad because she's gone... I'm sad because I didn't get to say goodbye properly. I didn't get to tell her how much of a hero she was to me... By being my friend during that era."

"Aw..." chorused the kids as they all looked sad.

"It's alright... I took some time to heal and tried finding my next adventure."

"Where did you go next?" asked little Jenny as she started jumping.
