I'm Not Real, Remember?

Unfortunately, the wrist guard shattered instantly as Mordred was forced back and became a kicking bag for the Valkyrie's pleasure. Even if Bryan was in that form, Mavislin's fighting abilities and attitude controlled the illusion's movements.

Mordred knew she couldn't keep up anymore and conjured a giant orb of red and black Elemental Energy into her palm. She waited for the opportune moment and shoved the ball of Energy into Mavislin's leg, causing the Valkyrie to wince in pain.

Mavislin quickly dodged another swing from Mordred and backflipped back to safety. The Valkyrie gingerly examined the area that got hit by the weird orb before finally realizing its effects. Mavislin glared at Mordred while the Knight laughed.

"So you get it now? My powers are superior to yours because you'll turn into me once you touch my Elemental Energy. A Corrupted version of the Spirit. But I've got no clue how it works on the living, so perhaps you can be the guinea pig and-"

Mordred's sentence was cut short as the Valkyrie quickly sliced off her entire leg. The Knight of Rebellion was dumbfounded as the portion dropped off while blood splattered everywhere. Mavislin shrugged as she lifted the stump and wiggled it slightly to shake off the blood.

"I'm not real... Remember? So that means..." said Mavislin as she grinned at Mordred.

The Valkyrie instantly grew back her leg and appeared in front of Mordred, ready to try the new limb out by using Mordred's neck as a test subject. The Knight instantly slammed into the ground with a broken neck as Mavislin jumped up to land another kick on her enemy.

But the Valkyrie wasn't the only one who could heal fast in that wasteland as Mordred rolled away from the terror and jumped back into a battle stance. The Knight grabbed hold of her sword and thrust the blade at Mavislin's head, hoping to catch her off guard.

"You think I won't see that from a mile away?" asked the still Valkyrie as she moved her head to the side, avoiding the attack.

And to stop the blade, Mavislin merely used two fingers to catch Clarent while Mordred was in shock and forced to halt the attack. It was a lovely way of showing the middle finger without doing so. Mordred cursed as she tried yanking it out of the enemy's grasp.

Once she tried, Mavislin smiled and changed her grip on Clarent while pulling it forwards so Mordred could fall frontwards. The Valkyrie then used her free hand to switch her blade's position to point it backward and tried to stab Mordred.

This sudden attack forced the Knight to release the blade and back off, allowing Mavislin to spin around and hurl Clarent like a spear towards the running Knight. Mordred quickly regained her balance and caught her flying sword just in time to clash with Mavislin's strike.

"Using Mavislin's memories to my advantage against you was the right choice. Your footwork and reaction time is fantastic as a combatant. I dare say it rivals my senior. If you join our side in taking down that kidnapper, I can erase your red flags and get you into the Barren Pillars."

"Or you can get a chance to fight Mavislin after we've dealt with Fabian Brookes. Either way, it's a win-win for both of us. So what do you say?" asked the Valkyrie as she raised her eyebrow.

"Hmph! So you are boasting about using others' powers to your advantage? And you expect me to work with you? Hah! Don't ask for the impossible, kid, because I am the one and true heir to the throne! Even I won't stoop so low to win a fight," replied Mordred as she pushed Mavislin back.

"Oh, really? Then enlightened me on why you hold that sword in your hands... That thing was stolen from the King, right?" asked the Valkyrie as she stomped forwards, making Mordred back off from the clash.

"Huh? Since when? Mavislin gave me this sword as a gift before abandoning me, saying that I needed a powerful weapon to fight against the King."

"So you don't know about the origin of that blade? Despite using it for so long? Don't you realize that the sword's intention bore a resemblance to Caliburn?"

"Should I know about it? All I understand it's that it was embedded with Mavislin's Valokian Authority. And it has Crimson Lightning whenever I pour some Elemental Energy into it. Although, when I was still alive, I never used that feature."

"That sword that you hold in your hands belonged to the King of Knights. A very old friend of Baldwin's was a Metal Mage that could merge something called Merits into the blades or armor he forged. And yours was called Clarent, the Ornate Sword of Peace and Glory."
