Why Do You Work For Him?

But the Knight shook that relief off and glared at the standing Valkyrie.

"Faker! Shut up already and end this hell hole! I've had enough of this thing, and I'm getting sick of your phony attitude! You are mixing Mavislin's memories with your judgment, so don't you dare talk about her like you are her..."

"It's disgusting!" shouted Mordred as black and red lightning hailed from the skies and struck down the Knight.

"Not as disgusting as siding with a philanthropist kidnapper. Don't think I won't use my connections when I'm up against a Knight of the Round Table. No matter the cost, I will go for it if there's a chance to get even with the enemy."

"I'll turn the tides in my favor even if you are a legend or powerful warrior. A person is still limited to what they can feel. I'm using your emotions against you because that's your downfall. That was also why you couldn't be King."

"Besides, why are you defending Mavislin's emotions when you claimed that you want to kill her?" questioned the 'Valkyrie' as she defected a stray bolt away.

"Tch! You've been going on and on about wanting to know why I work with Fabian Brookes, and it's beginning to annoy me. If I tell you the reason, will you stop nagging about it?" asked the Knight as she swung her sword in annoyance.

"That's all I wanted to know... Why do you think I came here in the first place?! If I was that bored, I should've gone to sleep! Instead, I'm spending my off days in a dungeon; god knows where and underneath some rich person who doesn't know the meaning of Orphanage!"

"And my nagging is irritating you?! Give me a break! Did you seriously think I've got nothing to do?!" shouted the Slayer with the same appearance as the Valkyrie.

"Well... You are part of the Arks... Rumor has it that your job is to take up tasks to-"

"Uphold peace between the Mages and humans... Yes, I know. But there are some instances that we don't have to look into unless it's blown out of proportion. Take this Mission as an example. Unfortunately, the Headmaster isn't stepping in to help for such a terrifying problem."

Mordred was caught off guard by the Slayer's sudden outburst but sighed after getting over it. The Knight then stabbed her sword into the ground and tilted her head to the side, signaling the opponent that she wasn't going to pounce.

"The reason why I sided with the Baron was because of the agreement we had. The man had revived and placed me into a body so I could roam around again. Other than that, I can't remember much because someone else used their Magecraft on me, controlling me like I was their puppet."

"That girl from earlier, the one who fought me in the tunnels with the fox spirit, she was the one who cut the strings, so now I'm free."

"So you were being controlled by another Mage? Do you know the name of the person?"

"I'm not sure, but what I could recall about his powers was that he was fluent in the Poison Element. Don't quote me on this, alright? Other than that, I never knew about the children's kidnapping or the mass death that the rich man caused."

"I'm here to do my job and serve the one who brought me back to life. Although, I'm starting to lose interest in the fellow..." confessed Mordred, taking her hands off from the pommel.

The Valkyrie stared at the Knight with disbelief while Mordred looked confused.

"What? I told you what you needed, so why are you looking at me as if I was a lunatic?" questioned Mordred.

"Well, after what you've said, maybe I see you as one. Not all your dogs are barking up there, Son of the King," said Mavislin, tapping on her temple.

"Excuse me?! Do you want to get beheaded right here and now?!"

"I thought you were trying to do so for the past half a Chime? Or were we playing around? Anyways, if you have lost the will to serve your boss, why the hell am I still fighting you?!" shouted the Valkyrie angrily, stomping in frustration.

"Huh? Of course, I've been trying to kill you! Why do you think I busted my armor for this?! And for the record, you were the one who started the fight first! I was merely having dinner! Look, at this point, I couldn't care less if you are Mavislin or some other person from the street."

"The only way to wake up from this thing is to kill you, so that is what I will do!" shouted Mordred, grabbing her sword and tossing it into her other hand.
