Why Was The Mafia Involved?

"These rules are strictly enforced when children get involved. We've got child trafficking, but only to a very mild extent, and even I don't approve of it. The Mafia and traffickers aren't the same things, which prompted us to investigate more on Fabian Brookes."

"The man had joined the Mafia a few years back, and we could tell he wasn't in the best headspace to work with us. But we kept him because VK thought he looked pitiful without something to do. Besides, he had an outstanding Element of Puppets, which was useful for a while."

"But then, when he started making toys, VK thought to cut him off and send him to Briton. After that, he never heard from us again, and that's how we showed that someone wasn't needed in our ranks."

Oof... That was harsh. Imagine being sent away by your work for an extended business trip to learn that your bosses have no use for you anymore. And that's why I don't travel for work.

"But what brought us back to the case was the giant house on top of a hill," explained Vincent.

"So it looks like Fabian building a house for all to see would be a beacon for everyone to hunt him down... It makes it hard to believe that the man tried his best to lay low. I think he would have lived a bit longer if he had built an underground facility instead," added the Slayer.

"I think anyone who had a clear head would hunt down Fabian after his actions. The man's a lunatic!" I yelled, angrily shoving a hotdog in my mouth.

"So VK sent you to hunt down Fabian? But why wasn't it sooner? And I refused to believe that was all..." shot Tomoe, folding his arms across his chest.

"You got me there, Fox. VK mentioned this case with Fabian during our last meeting, which wasn't flagged as a true threat until Elizabeth took on the job. Then, with news that the Arks were formulating a group to target the man, VK ordered me to check what was happening."

"I never thought Fabian would gain the Arks' attention by killing human children and using them as foundations and dolls. However, I was informed that most of the Founders within the group were part of the Congregation, a group notorious for breaking the peace amongst humans and Mages..."

"Never thought that they wanted to help the humans out. The Headmaster was someone I could never dream of working with, so I don't have a good impression about him," elaborated Vincent, with fear and worry in his words.

"Be careful; you are speaking ill of the Headmaster in a building created by him... And you are right about the Founders being formerly associated with the Congregation, but it doesn't mean they are all bad. And it's not uncommon for the Arks to get involved in these situations."

"The Arks' personnel are everywhere to do their job of patrolling the Five Domains for any misuse of Elements or Magecraft. Whatever they see on the job gets recorded for the Founders to monitor, which is why each Founder takes up a Domain to handle."

"And they only send in people to handle the case if it involves Magecraft. Little squabbles or problems within humans aren't a reason for us to get involved. Normally, we would have been on this case since it was abusing the Element of Puppets to hurt others."

"But because Fabian is quite good at dodging people and hiding, the Arks couldn't detect him earlier. And he was quite smart to operate in an area that couldn't be accessed by normal means unless we reached an agreement. For that to happen, it must be something big."

"And I'm talking about hundreds of people getting sick or being injured kind of thing in a short time span. But Fabian had everything planned out and wasn't greedy when talking in fodder. As for the Major Mission, the job had been on the Board for so long."

I felt sick when Bryan nonchalantly mentioned the requirements to be on high alert. Do you need permission to investigate something that has been taking the children of your nation after about a few hundred go missing?! About one or two, I understand, but until a hundred?!

Now I know why the people were dying left, right, and center during the Bubonic Plague or when the pandemic struck the world countless times.

The group of clowns that talked about upcoming pandemics being 'mundane and controlled' had to cut their tongues off because of what came after.

Nearly claiming over a million deaths, they finally thought to say, 'This virus is sure deadly!' or 'Hey! We shouldn't be giving guns to children!' Gosh, the mentality of some adults makes them rival a mentally incapacitated person...
