Meeting The Boss Again

"Neat! Thanks a bunch; this bow truly feels powerful and great to use! Say, if you tag along with me in my travels, you could get a lot of loot! Come on; it'll be fun! Like old times... Though I don't remember much of it..."

"I mean, it's been a year and a half of me dwelling in this world, so I can barely remember much about the past, say for you and a few others. I knew you from afar because your body is still the same shape..." proposed Vincent.

Then, I froze and realized something was amiss with Vincent's words.

"Vince... Are you sure you've been dead for a year plus?" I questioned, tilting my head to the side.

"Well...I'm sure since I've been alive in this world for more than a year... So why are you asking this?"

"Because you were dead for nearly five years when I died in the previous realm..."

The whole room was silent that a mere turn could make my ears bleed. Vincent had nothing to say as he wrapped his head around the truth.

"So that's why you couldn't recognize me? Because I've been dead for so long? But then... Unless, I've been here for a long time, and I don't know it. I'm so confused..." complained Vincent as he sank onto the floor.

I rushed towards the man while the Slayer backed away from us. I knew how disoriented someone could be when they discover they've got the time wrong. From so many cases of kids being kidnapped to babies not even seeing the light of day, time disorientation is no joke.

Sometimes, people's psyche aren't as strong as we think and they start to break down when given the truth, that time had flew past faster than they could realize.

"Yo! It's alright... I didn't mean to make you worry like that... I still trust you, but I don't know if I could go on quests with you. I mean, I've only been here for barely a few weeks, so I don't think moving around too often would be a good idea..." I said, smoothing Vincent's back.

"I promise I won't go far... It's within the Five Domains, so it shouldn't be a problem, right?" asked Vincent, hoping for a positive answer.

"There is... I can't go on a Mission with you because I'm working for the Arks now. I need to fulfill my duties as a Swordsman Pillar. Although, the sound of going on an adventure seems quite fun. I'm just worried that Mavislin won't approve of it," I said, with my tone growing sadder.

"Approve of what?" asked a familiar voice, opening the door.

Gah! Mavislin walked into the room without batting an eyelid at the newcomer and went directly toward me with a stern look. Oh crap... I must've taken too many leaves in such a short period... But to my sincere surprise, the Valkyrie merely smiled and ruffled my hair.

"Good to know that you are still alive after what happened... I was beginning to worry that you would die after the fifth day of not waking up. And you still have the energy to kick a Kitsune out of your room, so I guess you are quite a strong girl," said Mavislin.

"Tomoe was causing a problem in my quarters, so I thought the best way of quelling the issue is to throw him out before he damages the room. And I don't think I can die from oversleeping. Though, it would be a better way to go out than a fire... Ah! Forget that I said that."

Something struck me like a lightning bolt as I turned to face the people in the room... Didn't someone tell me that you needed special permission for an outsider to be allowed into the Old Chapel? If Bryan had been so wary of Vincent and Tomoe was ready to kick him to the next life...

Then who led the guy in?

"Uhm... Can I ask a question before talking about the past Mission? Why is Vincent allowed here when Tomoe and Bryan don't have a good relationship with him? And I thought we don't work well with the Mafia?" I asked, raising my hand.

"Well, you can thank Duncan and the Ankou for that part. They insisted that Vincent was a trustworthy person, so we allowed him to come. But he only showed up this morning, asking about your condition. If my Duncan thinks the person is okay, I will uphold his thinking."

"Besides, from what I heard, Vincent swooped in with a high-level spell to save the two of you from the Qilin, right? I've yet to thank you, but I've got an itch to scratch first," explained the Valkyrie, with a fang popping out from the corner of her mouth.
