Followers Of The Baihu

Despite being human, they've got different abilities, so this might be a problem. Knocking them out might not be as easy as I would have predicted. I took up one of the papers named 'Legs.' A crap title if you ask my personal opinion.

But of course, it represents the part of the White Tiger so I can forgive that. As I pondered on, I stopped reading.

"Do you know these people? Did they have lives before being called these names or serving the White Tiger? Because from what Vincent said, the Baihu didn't surface until only recently, right?" I asked, looking at the men with worry.

"Yes, it only appeared half a year ago, after the Umbras had been quelled from the Five Domains. It didn't pose a problem, but the locals were getting... Too annoyed with the Beasts lurking in their backyard and have sent some of us to kill them," explained VK.

"Jeesh... And you thought I was the sadistic one... But if that's the case, do these papers say anything about the followers' previous lives? Because to be a follower of the Four Symbols Beasts, you need to have faith in the Beasts."

"And for the Skill to be bestowed upon you, it takes years of fellowship. So how did these seven people manage to do that? Aren't the people in Albion Christian or somewhere of that religion?"

I absorbed the details on the papers, discovering that none of these people were even native to Albion. But they didn't look too right to me...

"You are not wrong... These followers look odd to me, especially because they only appeared when the White Tiger surfaced," said VK nonchalantly.

My eyes widened as I snapped my neck to shoot a glare at VK.

"I'm sorry... Run that by me again?!"

"The followers only appeared when the White Tiger came out. Why do you ask?"

"That means that they aren't humans... They are a part of the White Tiger, so it has become a must to defeat them. And because of such a sudden appearance, I can't fully confirm their stats yet. But I would assume they have similar powers to the White Tiger," I explained, tapping my finger on the table.

"And what about the rest of the Four Symbols? Are we going to have the same plan throughout, or it's only a special case for this one?" questioned Vincent, furrowing his brows.

"We are going to use this basic strategy for all the Beasts. However, attacking them might differ..."

I stopped tapping and glanced at Vincent in curiosity.

"You said that there was a guy in the middle of the forest that we had to be careful of... Who might that be?"

"Oh... Him? Well, as I've said, he is a bit of a hermit, so there are not many records about him, nor have I seen the man. But, I know he is a retired landlord loaded with gold and jewels while also being proficient in Magecraft, though I'm not sure about the type," replied Vincent.

"I think he wouldn't be an issue if we move the fight away from the house... So, that leaves the dirty work of killing the targets. How shall we do it? Split or together?" I suggested.

"I would say split, but if the followers are too powerful, I'd rather we fight together. But we are tag teaming for the Baihu's fight, right?"

"Of course, no way I'm going to face the Chinese Constellation all by myself... Else I won't share the loot. Perhaps we should seek the first target together? If that guy is too powerful, we stick together. If not, we split the targets in the middle. You take three, and I take three. Deal?"

"Yea, that sounds fair. And don't mind me, I'll just be using Avarice repeatedly..."

"What's that? Some pet or Skill?"

"It's a Skill that allows my blade to swallow the target or item in front of me. With that done, shall we settle on who we are targeting?"

"Ladies first..."

This man... I can't tell if he was genuinely trying to change for the better from being a cheater in his past life or if he's trying to get a fling. Either way, it won't happen because I'm too hell-bent on finding adventures and monsters to slay. And suddenly, I have an interest in Monster Hunter...

But I quickly shook my head and glanced down to read the followers' profiles. And I chose the Three Stars, Legs, and Net. When I saw the hand-drawn picture, these few people didn't look like local people. Instead, they had different colored hair and eyes and tattoos all over their bodies.

But as I read further into their profiles, I finally understood why reports of the locals wanting to get rid of the White Tiger would surface.
