As the event ended, the guests started leaving.

Song Jue left with her siblings as she had been called back to the ancestral house.

Yang Li, Mei, and Xue left together. Yang Ling invited the siblings to meet the elders but they refused. Yang Li sighed and bade them farewell.

Now, only Yang Ling and Yan Ya were left.

Yan Ya said, "Sister Ling, why didn't they come with us to meet the elders?"

Ling shook her and said, "There is deep resentment between 2nd aunt's family and the rest of the Yangs."

"However, after meeting sister and Yang Li they seem to be indifferent to the family. It is worse than I thought."

Yang Ling gave a deep sigh as both of them walked back toward the elders.

Next Day-

Yang Li got up early and finished his daily exercise routine. He found his sister Mei and Bing Xue in the kitchen when he came out for breakfast.

Xue was teaching Indo cuisine to Mei.

Yang Li quietly walked toward the 2 ladies and stood behind them. Both Mei and Xue didn't feel his presence. They were immersed in the preparation.

After watching them for 5 minutes, Yang Li finally broke the silence and said, "What are you guys preparing that is so interesting?"

"AAHH!!" Mei jumped in surprise. She was completely spooked by his sudden presence. Even Xue felt the same. However, she managed to stop herself from screaming.

"WHY are you creeping around us Li?? You scared me. Next time you do this I'll give you a beating."

Yang Li was scolded by his sister.

He quickly left the kitchen and took a seat at the breakfast table in the living room.

Mei said to Xue, "He used to do this all the time when we were younger. I had to beat him up a few times to make him stop. Because of his f**ked-up training, he moves silently like a ghost."

Xue started imagining the younger Mei beating up the little Yang Li. She started grinning foolishly.

When Mei saw her, she said, "And now why are you grinning like an idiot?"

She replied, "Nothing, I was just thinking about something."

Both of them carried the breakfast and sat down with Yang Li.

Mei had learned a new Indo cuisine from Xue. Yang Li liked the dish prepared by Mei. It was a flat unleavened bread that was stuffed with an assortment of vegetables. It was served with curd and pickle.

After the trio had their breakfast, they left for work.

Mei and Xue left together in Mei's car, whereas Yang Li took his jeep.

When Yang Li reached the office, he went to Zhou Jin's cabin.

Zhou Jin said, "Mother Yu wants to appoint a permanent CEO for Zenith Biotech."

Yu Rumeng had told Zhou Jin to call her mother but he felt embarrassed about it. After much insistence, he agreed to call her 'Mother Yu.'

Yang Li said, "Is she thinking of appointing Han Xi?"

Zhou Jin replied, "Indeed. She has a clean background. She is brilliant and has done great work till now. She also has great references. Everything checks out."

Li said, "It's cool then. Why did you bring such a simple matter to me?"

Jin said, "It was Mother Yu's order."

Li replied, "Stop being such a baby all the time. Do you have to do everything she tells you to do?"

Jin said, "Of course! I have to. Also, Wentian wanted to talk to you, but he couldn't get through to you. Call him when you are free."

"Also, I am going to Zenith. Mother Yu wants to finish all the formalities by today. So, take care…i'm off adios amigos!"

Saying so Jin bolted out of his office before Yang Li could say anything to him. Li smirked as he saw his bolting figure but he didn't stop Jin.

He then called Wentian.

The call was picked up only after ringing once.

"Why is your phone switched off boss?? I've been trying so hard to reach you."

Yang Li heard the excitement in Wentian's voice.

"What happened? Is it something serious?" replied Yang Li.

Wentian said, "Although it is not serious, it is about Sister Mei, therefore I wanted to inform you ASAP."

Li replied, "Is it the Xi family? They must be trying to dig out her background."

"Bingo! Absolutely correct, Boss. They have been snooping around. What should I do? How much should I allow them to see?" asked Wentian.

Li replied, "Nothing."

"Only what is known to the general public. Also, plant a trojan in the internal servers of their main enterprise and wait for my command to activate it. Also, monitor their underground dealings, especially drugs and prostitution. Find definite proofs of their illegal trades."

Wentian was excited on hearing this. He said, "Boss you have finally decided to eliminate the Xi family! Awesome. I will get on it."

Li said, "Nope, I won't eliminate them. Someone is needed to regulate the underworld and the Mo family is worse than them. There is also no guarantee that if I eliminate them the new ones will be better."

"I just need the information to control a dog who is sniffing in places where he shouldn't. Hopefully, he stops, otherwise, I will have to kill it."

Wentian was surprised. He said, "Boss who is it that is finding trouble with Sister Mei. Is it that Xi Fan? I heard he is a famous playboy."

"Stop yammering and start working," said Yang Li as he ended the call.

At the workshop

Qin Wentian thought to himself- 'Is it really that Xi Fan who is causing sister Mei trouble?'

Wentian shook his head as he thought about it. If it was Xi Fan and if he continued, he won't live long.

Very few people were aware of Yang Li's true nature. And even fewer had seen him in action. Wentian was one of them.

He still remembered the first time he saw Yang Li in action. He puked for half an hour afterward. Even to this day, he would shudder when he thought about the things he saw that day.

Yu Rumeng was working in her office when Zhou Jin arrived. She had talked to Jin about her decision on the CEO position. Jin had notified Han Xi.

She would arrive in half an hour.

Rumeng was reading a document when her secretary opened the door and led Zhou Jin into her office.

Jin said, "Mother Yu all the arrangements have been made. Now we just have to discuss it with Han Xi."

Rumeng smiled and said, "Good work Jin. Convincing Han Xi will not be too difficult. She is a good kid. She has been working as a researcher for 7 years already. I've inquired about her. She is diligent and meticulous. I believe she will be a good fit."

After half an hour there was a knock on the door. Rumeng told the secretary to send the person in.

Both Rumeng and Jin saw a graceful lady enter the office. She was about 166cm tall. She had lustrous black hair and gentle brown eyes. She had an upright posture as she moved towards Zhou Jin and Yu Rumeng.

As she greeted them, Zhou Jin signaled her to take a seat.

Before Jin could say anything, Han Xi spoke, "Mr. Zhou before we talk, I would just like to say that I am a huge fan. You are the CEO of two of the largest companies in the country at such a young age. You are a source of inspiration for all of us."

Jin looked at her and said, "Miss Han, thank you for your kind words. Now let us begin?"

"Sure." Replied Han Xi.

Jin said, "But before we begin, I would like you to sign a confidentiality agreement with regards to this meeting and its contents."

Saying so he took out a document and placed it before her. She read the contents of the document twice before signing it.

Jin said, "Now we can begin."

And the discussions began in the Chairman's office.

The next day the newspaper headline read-

'Miss Han Xi, has been appointed as the next CEO of Zenith Biotech.'

The article emphasized her age, and background and pointed out that recently she was the third person of the younger generation who had been appointed as the CEO of a major corporation.

This piece of news once again caused a stir in the business community.
