Fright Night

I felt sorry for him as he truly seemed ashamed to be judged like that, I gave it a thought a lot I knew I could take care of myself, and besides how worst could it be? What could he do? If he tries to flirt I would just slap him harder and I and Cris could take him down on our own.

After thinking about it from every perspective I yelled out "Wait!"

He stopped where he was and turned his head a little just to hear me.

"I… I'll be there!" I said.

In the evening I got ready, I wore this red shirt and black pants with it, I wore heels and combed my hair.

"Bye!" I saw my aunt off and left the house, Wow! The town seemed empty, chilled wind breeze was passing through tree leaves and touching my face making me realize what a good decision it was to get out.

Nature is a therapy for sure I must say, I was going to reach school when I realized there was no one "Am I late?" I thought and turned on the screen of my phone, it turned out I was early, 5 minutes only but still, I was early.

I kept walking with shorter steps and I looked up at the sky, stars already began to sparkle in the blue sky as if velvet is carrying thousands of diamonds within.

I smiled, right after I heard some noise, it was so far away from me to understand what it was, I lowered my eyes back to the road just to find the squinting bright car light approaching me, it was the sound of a car, I jumped aside and fell on my knees.

I quickly stood up and wiped the dirt from my clothes using my hands, I also looked around and it left me surprised when I found the road as empty as before, there was no one, no car nothing, "Where did it go?" I thought and kept staring to the side where the car went.

I turned around and the entire scene almost repeated, again there was a car now at a little less distance and brighter lights.

This time it began to follow me wherever I went, I started running in the opposite direction, I was scared I took long steps and ran harder until the car was left behind and I reached an abandoned warehouse.

I quickly got inside the warehouse and closed the door.

I breathed heavily, I felt as if I am re-experiencing everything I have been through, I just felt as if someone is coming to kill me, and he would just break through that door pointing a gun over my head, I fell down on my butt and dragged my self back until my back jolted against the wall I breathed heavily as the sound of the car kept getting closer.

I was so numb I had no idea I should have called someone for help, the police perhaps?

It was only a matter of time before the car just drove away in the other direction, I kept shaking and shaking until I heard someone laughing.

Not that I am a fan of this Freddy but I presume it was he who was laughing, I peeked out of the dirty window the glass was covered with dust but it was still clear enough to show me some blurry figures.

There were two guys, Freddy and his friend I do not know who was the second one.

"I thought you finally got a donkey kick on your face! But she really came!" The second guy laughed like an animal, gasping smaller in the middle and almost snorting.

"Did you see her face?" Fredricks laughed hysterically.

"Yeah! She was going to cry!" The other guy coughed as he placed both of his hands on his knees.

"Let us go!" Fredricks said.

"What about her?" The other guy turned around, I lowered my head trying not to be seen.

"Do you think she would still be here? She would probably be hiding her face under her pillow crying her eyes out!" Fredricks said and here they go again laughing in the most devilish way possible.

I clenched my fists harder I wanted to go out and slap the shit out of him but my hopes went down when I held the lock just to find that the door was locked now.

I pulled the knob and turned it left and right but it won't budge, but I did not give up just there, I turned back to the window and attempted to open it but it was all rusty and stuck I failed to open the window too, and then I realized that both Fredricks and his friend were already gone, and I was stuck here, alone.

I sat by the door and wrapped my arms around my knees, I buried my face under my arms and cried, I felt humiliated, I relived the fear I lived a year ago, I could not take out the image of my father's dead body from my eyes.

After crying enough to lighten my heart I realized if there was a door there might be a key, duplicate if not original, I pushed myself up off the ground and wiped my tears.

I took out my phone and turned on the flashlight, what I saw first was a wooden ground with charismatic carvings, every plank had the carvings making a connection with the other, when I was done praising the artist who put his/her hard work in those beautiful carvings in my mind I realized I was looking for a key, not the design.

I looked around and saw the left wall that had big wide windows but was dusty and rusted and on right there were wooden shelves with thousands of books covered with dust and spider webs.

I hated touching those books covered with a thick coating of dust but I had to, I rearranged a few of those books when I saw a spider crawling on one of those books that I was holding, I freaked out and dropped it, right when the spider fell down I smashed it under my slipper and picked up the book when my eyes dropped on a plank a few steps away that had completely opposite carving from other planks.

I touched it realizing not just the floor was completely clean but also that this plank I touched was loose.

"Maybe the key is under this plank," I thought, and even though my brain was telling me not to touch it I could not hold back from touching it, I pressed it, and it sunk in from where I pressed it and rose up from the other end, just like a lever.

And soon I cursed myself for doing it, because in the silence rose a sound as if too many planks are moving from one way to another and before I could even blink the ground broke down from under my feet and I started to fall inside, it was not such a shortfall but still, I did not feel hurt or my phone which fell on a little distance was just as scratchless as me.

I stood up shook the dirt off my clothes and turned on my phone's flashlight. What I saw was a darker room, much darker than the room I was in before.

It was like a small office but with antique furniture, a royal kind of antique, golden material, golden desk, maroon covers of the sofa's maroon curtains hanging on the window maybe, I was not sure because it was covered behind the curtains.

Spider webs were telling the old stories of the abandoned house, the dust coating was so thick that made me cover my mouth and nose.

On the left was this golden desk and behind that desk was a long back armchair with golden floral borders and maroon covers.

On the right of that table was a portrait of an old man, who had a mustache, and under that portrait was written "Xavier Paragon-Founder of the Mistwood since 1001 While I was examining everything my toe struck against something that made it slip away.

I pointed my flashlight at the ground and a big smile appeared on my face, it was a key "There was a key after all" I crouched to get the key and stood up then turned back realizing that I just fell down, there was no way I was getting back through that hole, I turned back with disappointment when my eyes stopped on the door, this was the place may be used to get in and out of the office.

I reached it but to my surprise, I kept touching every inch of the door but I could not find the keyhole, not even a doorknob, I gritted my teeth with anger and I turned back and walked and again I turned back, that's when I saw a first aid box made of plastic and glass on the right side of the door, there was a keyhole in it.

I looked at the key in my hand and placed the key under the keyhole, as I turned it I heard the sound as if that single key opened thousands of doors.

The sound repeated multiple times each sound came from farther and farther away until it could not be heard anymore.

The door that had no knob was now open, I pulled the lock with a smirk on my face "I am coming for you, Freddy!" I mumbled to myself.

When I opened the door I found a bricked path that had too many freshly fallen leaves on it with trees on both sides, there was no wind but the environment was damn chilling and at this time of the night it was making the view scarier, I peeked on each side and jerked back.

When I was trying to gather the strength to step out I heard a squeaking sound, when I looked everywhere I found out that a tree had a swing under it, even when there was no wind it was swinging, as if someone just got up from it.

I started to get goosebumps, so I stepped back and I closed the door, I quickly turned back just to find that the hole where I fell from now had stairs, "I am pretty sure it was not here before" I thought and I rushed upward, as soon as I reached the door from where I entered the warehouse I tried to enter the key.

But it did not work, "I have had enough" I kicked the door as hard as I could, and the door opened.

I took a sigh of relief and ran, ran without looking back, ran without thinking twice until I reached home.

As soon as I entered the house my aunt was waiting for me, when she saw me she got worried and rushed toward me, I did not want to make fun of myself so I waved my hand and stepped back "I am fine I just fell on my way back" I excused and hurried back to my room.

It was hard for me to sleep that night, I kept getting startled by small things, it was a fright night! A night I can never forget.
