-Chapter Six

"I know you have school today, I can drive you there if you want?" Nolan invites while washing his coffee mug. "Well-... No thank you, the bus is fine", Magnus rejects politely. "Oh okay, maybe next time then," Nolen says, as he takes the younger's mug.

"I have some time left, but I should probably fix up my uniform so I don't do it last minute," Magnus says.

Magnus arrived on the bus as normal. He took his usual seat near the window upfront, there weren't many students, because he was one of the earliest stops. So he would get to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Maybe it was the fatigue that was finally catching up to him... but he couldn't stop thinking about his coffee this morning. Maybe it was due to the presence of another, but it tasted much better than the standard. To be honest, all of this felt like a weird dream, he's been living so peacefully these days, that he had lost the track of what it was like without that peace. It wasn't pleasant.

A few stops later and Yanet comes in to sit next to him. "G'morning" Magnus says quietly, "morning, how's it going? You look tired" She announces, as she sat down.

"Do I? I drank some coffee this morning" He asks, with a small yawn. "Guess it needs some time to activate," He continued. "Maybe.." She retaliates. Yanet let out a deep sigh with her eyes closed, as she leaned her head back on the seat of the bus. "What's wrong?" Magnus wonders out loud, the other looked torn.

"Mh? O-oh, I was just wondering about Jimmy... I've never seen him so depressed before" she admits with a frown.

Magnus gave her a sad smile, "you're really sweet you know that? even if you act tough sometimes." Yanet blushed before putting on a small frownil, "I-I'm being serious about this! I just keep thinking what I would want someone to do for me in that situation… and can't think of anything good" she confesses.

"Hey it's okay, it's Jimmy, he's pretty strong when it comes to these things, I'm pretty sure if it was me in that situation, I wouldn't even be able to come to school," The older one says.

"You really think so?" She asks with a sigh, "I can honestly say that I do" He answers truthfully. Yanet gave a small smile trying to believe the other "I hope you're right", she responds.

School was as it was. Accept when Magnus tease of exposing Yanet for her worrying on the bus. Which Jimmy ended up making a huge deal out of.

When Magnus walked into the entrance home before he could announce his presence, his mother's distressed face from across the room to the left caught his eyes. She looked as if she was about to scream, Magnus was near running before he notice Mr. Miller- or rather, Nolen taking steps near her mother.

They talked a few, and then they hugged. Magnus quickly reached them, "I'm back", he announced.

They turned toward him. "Am I interrupting?" "Hey sweetie how was your day?" his mother responds with a smile. He stared without saying a thing, so his mother continues, "I just realized that we ran out of cream to make one of your favourites, Semla, do you mind going to the store and getting some?" she asks hands on his shoulder.

"I want to momma I do, but I have homework to do today" Magnus spoke honestly.

If he doesn't get his homework done right after school when he has homework, it will never get done that day.

"Fine, Ray and I will be going grocery shopping then", She says firmly. Nolan gave the young man a small welcome smile before Sanna walks them away. It was surely a strange interaction Magnus thought, but thinking about that now would definitely cause a headache. As there seemed to be more things to worry about these days, he went up to his room to do his homework.

Today's work is simple and doesn't take long, so he doesn't bother to take his uniform off before his doing it. It was only September,I hopes that school homework calms down later in the year. September… Jimmy's birthday is coming soon.

He heard a car from their garage leave, and he puts his books back in his backpack, already done with his work.

Magnus decides to get a cold snack from the kitchen before changing from his uniform.

When he made it to the hallway near the staircase, he noticed the door of room of his two sisters being open. So he peeked inside, his face bland with confusion as he sees the room set up filled with a few unpacked boxes. 'Why would Mr.Miller move in here if he's newlywed to momma?' the blonde asks himself. Then the colours from his face seemed to vanish when he realized what was going on.

'They didn't want to bother me with sharing a room… aw~ but this is a little too far. They do know I have headphones right' Magnus thought, walking away to retrieve his snack like he planed. Not wanting to be tempted any further to snoop.

Magnus already felt like a burden on most bad days, but this takes the cake, he wishes he could go up to his mom and say it's okay, but that would be a very strange conversation he wouldn't want to have. Maybe Nolen then?... Who knows, if he gets the chance he might just go for it.

Magnus went and opened the front door, knowing that the car just parked. It wasn't till the kitchen was filled with the few ingredient that was needed to make sweet rolls.

Nolen and Magnus were only ones the kitchen now. "Your mother won't be able to help in the make these today, she has a headache" Nolen mentions. Magnus gave a look of concern, "I should probably go check on her-" he say. "no that won't be necessary Magnus" the taller man quickly interrupts him. "We can order something if you'd like?" He raises an option, "…I'm not that hungry right now, besides, there are leftovers" Magnus replies.

"Well then, wanna help me make these semlas? I've never tried them before, and I bet it'll make your mom feel better" Nolen goes on saying, making Magnus laugh lowly.

"I'd like that, they are pretty fun to make!" He says, before getting measuring cups and bowls.

"No, if you do it too gently like that, we're gonna be here for a while" Magnus mentions, as he witnesses Nolen's attempts of mixing the batter.

He was a bit surprised as to why the man held off from using those lean muscles he noticed on him.

"Let me, in the meantime you can make the almond paste I explained earlier" he says, as he gets to mixing. "Whoa, you're doing that really strongly for someone so-…" Nolen stops in his track of words as Magnus makes eye contact. "For someone not as built?" The blonde guesses with an eyebrow raised, "n-no not like that, for someone so- you know! dainty?" The taller finishes unsure.

Magnus stops mixing completely, "well I have been lacking on working out these days", he says, and Nolen takes a breath of relief as the shorter starts mixing again.

"Haha, the chilly weather will do that, but as long as you stil try , it'll still be fun! and you're body is actually pretty impressive" Nolen says with a smile n his face showing his dimples. Magnus looks up from the bowl he was working with, he blushed from the complement, it felt good to hear something nice in a while.

They finish preparing the Semlas with little casualties, it was a good thing that Mr. Miller seemed to be a fast learner.

Magnus adds the final touch of powdered sugar on top of the treats before plating. He forgot how fun doing some of his old hobbies other than video games was, it was surprisingly a breath of fresh air. "Alright we did it!" He says, reaching to grab one.

"Since you've never had one, you should be the first one to eat out of our batch", the lad says. They made about seven in total, with some batter left. Nolen grabs one and takes a bite, "oh my gosh… this is delicious!" Nolen says happily, before Magnus takes his bite. "Not bad, but I can do better next time" the shorter critics. He hasn't made these in a while.

At first, Magnus was worried that this new strange situation was going to be the end of his peaceful world. But he was surprised to feel as though he might just be able to not feel uncomfortable around this new presence. One step for Magnus and one giant leap to growing their relationship 'normally'.
