I Don't Care

"What else did you tell them about me?" Maya asked skeptically. "I have a hard time believing people who have known you for a while would actually believe you fell in love without talking me up."

Vincent shrugged. "I said that you were an architect and that we had a lot in common. I also mentioned that you were a good conversationalist and brought some fun into my life. All of those things are true."

She was both shocked and pleased by the compliment. That was perhaps the nicest thing he had ever said to her. "Thanks."

"…there isn't a need to say thank you for telling the truth."

"I think there is. Getting compliments out of someone like you is like pulling teeth," she said with a shrug. 

Vincent actually looked slightly abashed by her teasing. "Am I really that terrible? Actually, don't answer that."
