Would That Even Be Possible Out Here?

The boat shed was the only finished construction project that was visible from the ocean. Maya floated through the gap in the trees down the unpaved road,  taking in the view as her husband walked below.

"You seem like you're having fun," he noted.

"Duh! I'm flying! What isn't fun about that? Can I have the controls so I can go super fast?"

"No."

Maya groaned. "Aww, why?"

"I don't want you breaking anything else," Vincent said in a tone that brooked no arguments.

"You're no fun."

"I'm fully aware of that."

His tone was matter-of-fact but she felt a stab of guilt. She didn't actually think he was no fun. He wasn't nearly as much of a stick-in-the-mud as people thought he was. He was surprisingly good company.

"I didn't actually mean that," Maya said quickly. "I do have fun with you. I hope you know that."

Vincent didn't look up from the controls as he replied. "I do."
