Unexpected Freeloader

*Noel*

"WHAT?!", I yelled at my phone after its endless ringing. We tried to ignore it but it just ruined the moment.

"Well, hello to you, too.". Oh, it's her. "Sorry Liv, I, um… What is it?".

"I'm sorry if I ruin your night but I think you should get back here, the Alpha is very much annoyed at the moment.".

"Alright, I'm on my way.", I then ended the call. Jenny had then handed me my coat and helped me put it on. She placed her hands at the rim of my coat collar as I tell her, "I'm sorry we had to shorten our night, I am needed back at our estate.".

"It's okay, we can always go out again.". She looked so cute, I tried to lean over for that kiss but she shielded my lips with her index finger and said, "Na-ah, I'm still mad at you for letting me go.". I let out a disappointed but amused sigh. I straighten up but then she gave me a kiss on my cheek by holding down my coat collar and then giddily ran away. Is she teasing me? I swear if ever we get another chance on that one kiss, I'll definitely do it and nothing will stop me.

After I got Jenny home, I went straight to our estate. When I set foot, I was generally confused about what was happening around me. Some of our pack members are running around so much, that it's like they're on a rampage. Few of them notice me and greeted me with 'Good evening, Beta'.

"Noel!", Mother emerged from the chaotic household. She also welcomed me with a warm hug which I also did in return.

"What is going on here, Mother?".

"Oh, my son… Kyle came rushing here earlier and ordered everyone to clean the place. Apparently, it was short noticed to him.". Short noticed…? He should've let me know. "He also instructed to clean Eleazar's room.". Father's room…? Why would he do that? Unless it is what I think it is. Mother looked worried but I assured her that everything was fine and there was nothing to worry about. I then proceed in finding our Alpha.

'Kyle…? Where are you?'.

'At Father's room…'.

Entering Father's room brought back memories, memories that the family cherishes. But when I opened the door, I saw that one wolf that I hoped to never see again.

"Hello there, matey!", the brat is back and casually sitting at my father's chair. I looked at Kyle who was less happy with what is happening right now. I then asked him, "What is he doing here?".

Before Kyle could answer me, the brat interrupted yet again. What is it with him and interrupting people? "Oh, I'll be staying here for quite a while. I really found Portland a very homey place.". What? All of a sudden…?

"I don't want to disrespect but what about your pack, Kaleb?". Kyle asked with clear confusion on his face.

"Don't worry about them, they can manage by themselves, besides my Beta is there. Dante can handle everything.". I can't help but raise an eyebrow. He left his pack to his Beta…? I know his pack is the strongest of us all but without their Alpha, it might do them no good. Then again, we're talking about the Alpha King's pack, the Black-Mist pack. I think they have it covered.

"Anyway, let's get down to business, shall we…?". A sudden change of aura was reflected on his face. "We have received your request for a meeting in regards to the demise of the Yellow Hills Pack with its young Alpha and surviving members in your care. To be honest, I don't really care about it but the elders kept on and on about the matter is important. It became quite annoying if you ask me.". Huh, some King you are.

"C'mon Kaleb," Kyle seemed to be so done with his drama. "Get on with your point.".

"Eh…? Someone's getting touchy." This brat is teasing my brother who was having none of it tonight. And I think Kaleb knows it though he just simply doesn't care. "My point is that even though it's annoying, I accepted your request and will hear what you have to say. And I've also called the others and they'll be arriving here any time soon.".

"Wait… You called the members of the High Council HERE?!" Kyle's reaction gave me the impression that this is all news to him again.

"Yes, I don't see why not.". He smirked then had the audacity to put his feet above our Father's desk like he owns the place then added, "The admired Blue-Moon Pack has been one of the most welcoming packs in this region, surely you won't deny a request from your Alpha King, would you…?" A request you say, more like we don't have a choice. He is mocking us.

"Of course, we won't." A female's voice echoed through the room. Though her warm presence contradicts her bold words.

"Lady Celeste!" Kaleb's mocking persona was suddenly replaced by his childish demeanor, "It's nice to see you! Please come in!" He quickly stood up and offered Mother a seat though she signaled him that there was no need.

"Your Highness…" Mother gave him a bow upon entering the room. Behind her is Olive who immediately went to Kyle's side. "You've grown young Majesty, and it's just been a year since I last saw you.".

"Well, I'm still a growing young man.".

"Growing indeed.". Wow, my mother had put a spell on this brat. That may be because she used to be his teacher. She was part of the Black-Mist Pack before marrying my father and had to leave that pack. Though the previous Alpha King and Father respected her wish to continue teaching. That is until my father died and she had to guide our pack, the Blue-Moon pack until Kyle was old enough to be proclaimed as our Alpha.

"My children are busy these days. Would his Highness be kind enough to give us some time to do preparations? Maintaining a low profile from our neighboring human populates is not really an easy task.". Hmm, my mother is trying to woo the brat, I don't like it but what Mother said is true.

"Blah! The humans again…" Kaleb exclaimed bitterly. "But for you my favorite teacher, of course, I won't mind."

"I thank you for your kindness, young Majesty." Mother bowed before him as we followed suit. She was about to leave when Kaleb brought up something, "Say, Lady Celeste… Haven't thought about changing your mind on my seat offer…?". Mother halted for a while and then smilingly replied to him, "No my dear, I won't be part of the council that took my Eleazar away from me.".
