Jezza, Melanie, and I wait until after curfew, then tiptoe down the hallway under an invisibility spell that Jezza crafted. We make our way up to Gwen's dorm room.


In the hallway, two vamps come around the corner and my breath stills in my chest.


"You smell something?" he asks the other one.


"Only chocolate and popcorn. Let's go grab a snack from the blood fridge downstairs.


The first vampire looks right at me. I cover my mouth with my hand to keep from making a squeak. 


Finally, the first vamp shakes his head and they leave.


I let out a breath and glance over my shoulder to Jezza and Melanie. They both appear pale. We can see each other since we're under the same spell. But Jezza says it only lasts an hour.


A few more turns and we're outside of Gwen's dorm room. In case she's inside, I knock three times. But no one answers.


"Leave this one to me." Melanie taps on the doorknob. "Basem datorum."
