Chapter 50: Boyfriend Blues

I walk through the bleachers at the packed stadium, looking for Gwen. The marching band blares our school's fight song-correction-my old school.

When I spot her silver head, a few rows over, I nearly trip climbing over the benches to reach her. Rachel is sitting next to her and even though I knew they were friends now, it still stabs me to see it for myself.

"Hi Gwen," I say loudly with as much syrupy-sweetness as I can.

She gapes, but schools her features. "Have you been stalking me? I'd be flattered if it wasn't so pathetic."

"Give me the purple prism and I won't fry your ass right now."

"See what I mean, Rachel? She was violent at the academy too."

"Cut the bullshit, Gwen." I clench my fists. "Give me my men back that you stole."

"What is it with you and ghosts?" She rolls her eyes. "Maybe you should visit the Academy's counselor."

"They were out of diet soda so I got you a ginger ale," a familiar voice behind me says.
