Chapter 121: Hot Stone

Ty

Ty clenched his hand into a fist to lessen the burn throbbing through his palm. As soon as the damn stone touched him, he'd nearly bellowed and thrown the thing onto the ground. It had leeched something out of him. A vision. Something he glimpsed for a second then it was gone, and he couldn't recall what, like a dream forgotten.

He shook his head. No, he didn't know what the rock did, except even now as they exited the werewolf cave, his hand stung like hell.

If he'd tossed the object into the dirt, he doubted the werewolves would have appreciated his treatment of their holy relic, so he gritted his teeth and dumped it into Carla's hands. She didn't seem affected. He watched her face carefully for any twitch indicating it hurt her. Nothing.

Outside, she took a breath. "Thank you so much, Ty. I-I didn't think we'd be able to get the moonstone back, but you worked a miracle back there."

Her words elevated his spirits.
