Chapter 1: Potions Class

Harry headed down the stairs to the dungeons with Ron and Hermione by his side. People glared at him as he walked by.

"Ignore them, Harry, they're not worth it!!!" Ron said, trying to cheer Harry up.

Hermione glared at him. "Really Ronald? Can't you see Harry's clearly not in the mood?!"

He and Hermione once again started bickering as they always did, and Harry was sick of it.

"WILL YOU TWO EVER SHUT UP?! YOU NEVER STOP BICKERING!!"

Ron and Hermione paused and looked at Harry as if he just slapped them across the face.

"EVERY DAY YOU'RE AT EACH OTHER'S THROATS, JUST GIVE IT A REST ALREADY!''

They continued looking shocked as Harry turned away.

He stalked down to Potions class, getting there too early for his liking.

Great now I have to be in this blasted place longer than I have to be, Harry thought as Snape rounded on him like a bat searching for its prey.

"Well, well, well. Mr. Potter, I see you've decided to join class early today," Snape said as he stepped in front of Harry.

Harry looked up to his cold dark eyes.

"Yes Professor," Harry said with all the spite he could muster.

He then went near his chair.

He slammed down his potions book on his desk as he sat down. Hermione and Ron walked in and tentatively sat down in the two seats next to Harry.

"Harry we know we always bicker but you shouldn't have yelled at us either, we're on your side," Hermione said after nodding at Ron.

Harry looked down into his lap and mumbled, "Sorry, I know you're on my side but it's just annoying when you're constantly at each other's throats."

Snape strode to the front of the classroom.

"You will be changing seats today, grab your stuff and go to the side of the room," he said in his nasally voice. "When I call your name, go sit down in your chair."

"Potter sit there," he said, pointing to a chair in the front of the class, "Malfoy, you're in the seat next to Potter."

Harry looked at Ron and Hermione desperately, even though they couldn't do anything about it.

Snape got everybody seated and started his lesson. Harry kept trying to listen but it was hard considering Malfoy kept saying things like, "Chosen One not listening in Potions, what a shame."

Harry stomped on Malfoy's feet after dealing with him for most of the class. Malfoy looked at Snape gleefully as he sneered, "Potter tried to break my toes, sir."

"Potter, if you can not behave then I will have to give you extra work," Snape said with relish as he stared at Harry.

Harry was about to say something when Umbridge came out of a dark corner.

"Hem, hem" Umbridge coughed with a false smile.

"Yes Dolores, do you need my services?" Snape looked as if he had just bitten into a sour candy.

"Well, it's just that they should both be immediately punished because they broke the rules," she said.

Snape had a displeased face.

"If you do not assign them extra homework then I will just give them detention," she said in a dangerously sweet voice.

"Don't worry Dolores, they will both have extra work that they'll have to do together," Snape said knowing what her detention consisted of.

Umbridge walked out of the room and Harry was looking at Snape.

Surely he wouldn't give Malfoy extra homework, thought Harry.

Harry was wrong.

"Potter. Malfoy. You need to make a potion of your choice, but it has to take 1-7 days."

Harry and Malfoy both started cursing at Snape. It wasn't pretty. When Harry and Malfoy finished cursing at Snape, they were both red in the face.

"Potter we do not use that kind of language here, 25 points from Gryffindor," Snape said triumphantly.

"But Professor, Malfoy was yelling too!" Harry yelled as his temper rose.

"I only heard you, Potter," he said greasily as he turned around to grab a textbook.

Harry was so sick of Snape always being unbearable. Harry's face turned red from anger and he stalked out of the room in a silent rage.
