Chapter 11: Detention!

Harry ran over to Hermione. Out of breath, he was trying to speak but was unsuccessful. When Harry had almost fully regained his breath he managed to cough out "DON'T TELL RON." Everyone in the hall turned and looked at Harry as he realized how loud he accidentally said that. "I didn't mean to yell, I was out of breath and trying to talk!" Harry said as everyone turned back to their occupation.

"It's fine, Harry" Hermione sighed and continued " And of course, I won't tell Ron, but that doesn't mean I don't want to talk about it, it's definitely very….. um…. different... that you fell for your enemy," Hermione whispered.

Harry looked around and whispered back, "Don't jump to conclusions, I myself am not sure at what's happening."

Harry felt his face getting hot again and tried to change the subject.

"We should get to class," Harry awkwardly said as he started walking towards transfiguration.

Hermione obliged and followed.

Now that he was in class, time seemed to be going extremely fast as if it wanted to hurry towards the detention. In what felt like a minute it was time for Harry's detention. He waved goodbye to his friends and went to Umbridge's office.

Each step echoed his impending doom.

When he finally arrived he said the usual good afternoon and sat down on the seat of the desk. He looked at the quill for a second and then grabbed it and started writing, "I must not tell lies."

As he started writing he felt the cut reopen and pain shoots up his arm.

He didn't let out as much as a gasp though, he didn't want to give her the satisfaction. The paper had almost been filled up and he looked over at his hand. There was blood dripping from the top of his hand onto the paper and desk. The first paper had finished so he grabbed another from below it that had already had bloodstains on it from the previous paper. Harry stayed there for what felt like an eternity. But as the minutes turned into hours Umbridge finally dismissed him after 8 parchments filled with "I must not tell lies." Harry examined his hand as he walked out. After all the detentions, his cut had gotten deeper and deeper.

Harry examined his hand again and saw that blood was coming out at an alarming rate. He decided he would have to go get bandages from a store cupboard somewhere. He would have gone to Madam Pomfrey, but Umbridge might see him and then she would think he was weak.

Harry tried to think where bandages would be and remembered there were some in the classroom he and Malfoy did the work in. So he redirected and went to the classroom.

When he was finally getting closer he saw a shadow walking around. Harry tried to gingerly walk around but while still looking at the shadow he crashed into an armor stand making a loud crash cut through the silence. Harry saw stars as he tried to get up but he ran into somebody that he supposed was the shadow he just saw.

"You ok, Pottah?"

The shadow offered a hand and then Harry put his glasses back on because they had fallen off when he fell.

When his eyes adjusted he saw it was Malfoy.

Harry took his hand and pulled himself up.

"I'm fine," Harry said as he gingerly took the hand that was the bleeding hand out of Malfoys grasp trying not to get blood on him.

However, Harry's hand was shaky from the detention and his hand shook slightly, just enough to wipe blood on Malfoy's hand. Malfoy must have noticed because he looked down before Harry could hide his hand. Malfoys face flushed, getting rid of the little color he did have in his face. Malfoys spoke in a hushed voice. "I forgot you had detention tonight."

Harry just hid his hand as he tried to keep walking towards the bandages but Malfoy put his arm out stopping him. "Yes, Malfoy, what do you want?" Harry said, knowing Malfoy wouldn't let him by.

"Can I see your hand? I've only seen it from far away," Malfoy whispered again, sounding concerned.

Harry did NOT want to show him his hand but he knew he wouldn't let him through unless he did. So he reluctantly complied.

"You might not be able to see from the blood," Harry said, without a quiver in his voice or tear in his eye.

Malfoy just looked at him for a second as if he were mad.

Harry held out his hand and Malfoy grabbed it. He examined it closely. He saw all the rigid edges of the cuts and how deep they had gotten. Looking shaken, Malfoy looked at Harry.

"We need to go to Madam Pomfrey!" Malfoy exclaimed as he let go of Harry's hand as if it had burned him.

"I just need some bandages! That's where I was going before you stopped me! SO if you would please move I will be able to bandage the injury," Harry said as he was getting annoyed now.

Malfoy kept his arm there and plowed on, "Fine but I'm coming with you!"

Malfoy let his hand down and Harry started walking with Malfoy trailing closely behind him.

"Can you back up a bit, you're very close!" Harry said as they arrived at the classroom door.

Malfoy took a couple of steps back as Harry opened the door. He went inside and went to the same medical cupboard as before. He started unwrapping the bandage but his hands were now shaking violently and he couldn't wrap it around his hand. Malfoy came up behind him and went around to where he was struggling to put the bandage on. Malfoy put Harry's hand on his and then grabbed the bandage that Harry was struggling with. Malfoy let go of Harry's hand and started to gently wrap the bandage around it. As Malfoy was doing that Harry was trying to stop his hand shaking but it was unsuccessful.

"Sorry, my hand is shaking so much." Harry apologized as he once again tried to steady his hands.

"It's fine. You don't have to apologize, I understand why they're so shaky." Malfoy said thoughtlessly, still concentrating on the bandage.

Malfoy finished getting the bandage on and Harry thanked him as he turned to go to the Gryffindor dormitory. But Malfoy grabbed his arm before Harry could walkout.

"Yes! What now!" Harry said angrily as he just wanted to get some sleep.

Malfoy let go of Harry's arm."It's late, you'll need a prefect to get you to your common room!" Malfoy said as he walked out the door motioning for Harry to come.

Harry reluctantly went with Malfoy. They awkwardly walked side by side, their hands brushing against each other, then slowly their pinkies hooked and they just kept walking as if nothing had happened. They continued walking like that until they got to the Gryffindor common room. But while they were walking they didn't notice someone watching them. The shadow was watching them from behind a head of greasy black hair.
