Chapter 4

"Master, please wake up on time today.", Lucian sighed the next morning, approaching the earl's door. "Your friends are concer-", he halted as he opened the door to find an empty room.

"Master?" Lucian asked, looking around for the boy.

Oh god, she will murder me, Lucian thought as he concluded that the master was not in the room.

"Camille," Lucian called from the doorway. "We have a situation..."

Not even a minute had passed and Camille was already towering over the butler, who was cowering in the doorframe, inching his way into the room.

"What situation?" she said in a deadly tone.

"The-the master's no-not in his room…" he stammered.

"What?!" she screeched.

The household had made their way to the earl's door in confusion. The lady Eliza was dressed in a robe while Margaret and Edward were still in their night clothes and quite groggy.

"What's wrong Camille?" Eliza asked the maid.

"The master's missing," Camille replied, glaring at the butler.

This snapped the siblings awake. "Vin's missing? What do you mean he's missing?!" they demanded.

"He-he's not in his room…", Lucian answered feebly.

At the back of the group, Robert cleared his throat. "I believe that we should spread out and search for him over the mansion grounds. There's a good chance that we can still find him."

"I think Robert is right,'' Eliza agreed.

Camille and Lucian searched the ground floor and the basement, Robert and Alexander searched the first floor, the lady Eliza and Margaret searched the second floor while James and Edward searched the gardens of the mansion.

After around 10 minutes, James heard Edward shout from the other side of the garden. The gardener thought that the boy may have fallen and rushed to his side. What he saw surprised him. The young master was asleep in a bush near the wall of the mansion.

The boys rushed back in to inform the others. The group gathered near the earl. Camille stepped forward and gently shook the boy awake.

The boy groaned, opening his eye. "Can't I get five more minut- wait a second, why are all of you here?"

Everyone just stared at him blankly. "You're asleep in a bush outside the mansion. What do you think happened?", Ed asked.

"How did you get here, master?" James asked.

Vincent looked up. His balcony was just there. He bit his lip. He had meant to get back before sun up.

"I- uh- I sleep walked here.", Vincent said, giving a nervous laugh. His friends did not look very impressed. The Vincent they knew did not act like this.

Lucian helped the boy up. Then something caught his eye. "Master, why is the back of your night shirt torn?"

"What?", Vincent turned. He couldn't see much but the wings never left signs. This has never happened before.

"I-I guess it must have gotten stuck in the twigs and tore," Vincent tried covering the situation.

"Whatever it is master, you should go wash up and change. I take you're feeling better today sir?" Camille lead him back to the manor.

"Yes Camille."
